to prev anon, this is a great characterisation of lizzy and truly such a great up an coming fic that highlights all the complexities (ha) that she has always had in cannon!! despite most of fanon's notions to ignore it and as someone who has been in this fandom for over a decade and consistently witnessed the distinct lack of care for her character in discussions and works of art its nice to have someone try!! the way her and ciel are paralled in smarts is so refreshing because lizzy has always been this calculated she HAD to be to play this perfect role that cannon provides for her without him clocking it, shes good at the social game!!! theres a particularly delicious opera scene in the fic too that highlights that for as much as they differ in strengths they have their common ground that unites them too. its so good!!! give it a read!! the worst that can happen is you dont like it :]]

Give me a sales pitch for reasons to read your fic! How do you think it stands out among other Elizabeth fics? I want to hear you gush about it 😊

LOL pleaseeeee don’t make me. how about some reasons why I decided to write instead (and if it resonates, then there’s your answer!):

1. very few good long form stories about elizabeth exist. SORRY someone has to say it. ive read maybe… 3 that still stick with me? one of which I directly mention on ao3 (GO READ IT). I guess I was kind of tired of reading the same two depictions of her: an extension of Ciel, typically in the marital sense, and the usual, horrible, misogynistic mischaracterization.

and as they say… you have to write the work you want to see!

2. her character has so much potential to build on and that’s very much something I’m exploring! she’s consistently a spectator to extreme tragedy and violence, battles with her own identity in a culturally oppressive time, and holds incredible strength and intelligence. and ALL of that is already canon? we are LUCKY to have a character like her.

guys we have so much to write about, PLEASE CLOCK IN TO AO3 HQ!!

3. this is more of a personal grievance, but if you can acknowledge every other kuro character has nuance and flaws, why is Elizabeth excluded from that? yana is very clearly setting up… something with her character and it drives me nuts that people in the big 2025 still hate her.

4. it’s been over 10 years since I first read volume 13 of kuro (campania arc) and at my very young age, I idolized Elizabeth’s character. so much so that I signed up for fencing lessons for a couple months. I’m very aware of how young and impressionable this fan base is and having positive representation is SUPER IMPORTANT!

and writing about Elizabeth, the baddie I know she is in my heart, will be the vessel for that lol.
