i feel like if i were to ever use ‘transformer’ units of time (cycles and the like) i would probably intentionally use them as a device to make the reader as confused as possible about what length of time has passed. on purpose. it’s a great use for them

the thing about running into transformers rarepairs is that sometimes you’ll go “why are people shipping this” and just as with a lot of fandoms it turns out that the two characters have never actually had a direct interaction ever in the entire franchise and someone, at some point, went “i think that theoretically if these two met it would be interesting”. other times, and this is the one that appears to be mostly unique to transformers, it turns out that the characters in question basically made out onscreen in a comic fifteen years ago that no one read and/or everyone forgot about, and the grand total of 3 people shipping them have more basis for it than some of the most popular ships in the entire fandom

the thing about tailgate is that when you think about it he's actually a little terrifying. and im not even talking about his outlier. like you have to remember that this guy is running off of literally 2 weeks of life experience and then whatever the heck the losers on the lost light are telling him about. yeah hes kinda naive but with that in mind everything he does is like 50x more impressive. dude told like 500 separate lies and managed to cover his tracks thoroughly enough to avoid getting caught for *months*. thoroughly enough to fool ultra magnus and we all know what he's like. autopedia didn't even exist in tailgate's time. he tricked rewind into teaching him how to defuse a bomb and only ALMOST killed a bunch of people. he was bored out of his skull the entire time magnus was teaching him the autobot code but he actually REMEMBERED it. like yeah he falls for getaway's whole shtick but he's literally the only person on board who has an excuse for that kind of thing. literally everyone else has like a million years life experience on him and look at the kind of dumbassery all of them get into. if tailgate hadn't fallen into a hole and blacked out for several million years the war would have been over in 5 minutes real and true. we're all lucky that tailgate's top priority is movie night

really amusing phenomenon i've noticed

the humor of starscream being typically portrayed as particularly like, hot, by the fandom despite the fact that most of his incarnations don't have anything too special leaning towards that conclusion going on is massively enhanced by the fact that like half of starscream's whole Thing in a lot of continuities is that there are anywhere from a dozen to hundreds of guys that look exactly like him just with different paint. because this implies that either a) grey blue and red are just particularly slutty colors (what does that say about optimus prime exactly) or b) 90% of starscream's appeal is just, like, Vibes. Personality. Mannerisms. which, honestly, valid

airachnid and starscream (in tf:prime) are incredibly like-minded and if they had ever teamed up in earnest they would have promptly decimated both factions and won the war in a matter of like 2 weeks tops. that being said the universe is completely safe from this possibility as neither of them would ever, ever do this
