Vince Santiana

Vince is a tailor, and a good one at that. He is very creative and has a great eye for detail.

Unlike his twin sister, Quinn, he has not worked on the water due to terrible seasickness. However he has found a life he enjoys, and hopes to become a professional one day.

Jon Wyatt Iris

The captain of the Libèrta, Wyatt is determined and a strong leader, ready to take on whatever befalls the crew, leaving no one behind.

He has worked various jobs on the ocean, climbing the ranks quickly. When he searched for his crew, he wanted people who had known the waves the way he had for all those years.

He was with Quinn in the hurricane, and suffers from similar trauma.

Some Kotiian characters 1/3

Quinn Victoria Santiana

Quinn is very energetic and charismatic, and always exploring or finding some sort of adventure. Also she is the twin sister of Vince Santiana.

She has worked on a fishing vessel for most of her life, making her a strong sailor and swimmer. That, alongside her people skills, made her a good choice for her seat as the right hand on the Libèrta.

She was in the hurricane that destroyed Vernassa, witnessing destruction and getting very injured. The trauma left her with a bad case of astraphobia (fear of thunder/storms)

Some worldbuilding in Kotii

The island has been based off of some parts of Spanish, and Italian culture. The vibes from sailors and pirates are heavily in the mix as well.

The island is relatively small, holding three villages and one city, which is the capital. Tura, Potani, Manal, and Cuore is the capital. They are all mostly on the outskirts of the island, held up by sturdy docks.

There used to be a fourth village, called Vernassa, but it was practically destroyed in a hurricane that swept Kotii.

The spoken language is Kotiian (translated Italian)

The island used to be a haven for pirates (think Tortuga) but it settled down over a long time into a fun little place. However you can see pieces of it in the culture, or traditions left by some pirates.

The people hold their values of community and family very strongly. There is a saying: “We share Kotiian blood, so we share Kotiian bread.”
