finally finished watching bricky's silent hill 2 remake playthrough and his chat is having the "is james evil?" discussion and there are no words for how tired i am of people being unable to comprehend anything beyond purely black-and-white "good" and "evil" and needing multi-faceted, morally complicated characters boiled down to one of the two, nothing in-between, even when it comes to a horror game made for adults. like genuinely what the hell has happened to people

as the OP and a tax-paying adult (no job though as i'm disabled) am i allowed to say that the "wahhh this discourse is so stupid, i am a tax-paying adult with a job and am so above this" tags on this are annoying as fuck.

the "discourse" is literally one side going "people shouldn't be harassed over what they do with fictional characters regardless of how gross or tasteless you find it, you should care about the wellbeing and safety of real people more than fictional characters, literally just block people who create things that upset you and move on with your life" and the other side going "no. i will send you and your family death and rape threats and doxx you and send you gore and CSAM and call you slurs and say that you deserved to be sexually abused as a child. i want to kill you so bad, even if you are a minor. i'm a good person". this "both sides are equally bad" shit is so fucking boring and it doesn't make you look like a sensible adult who's so above silly fandom drama, it just makes you look like an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about but feels the need to stick their nose into it anyway just to let everyone know how above it all they are. if you've not been affected by this shit, if you really think it's so frivolous and stupid and that you're so much better than those who have been affected by it and do care about it then you can just not reblog posts about it in the first place, how about that? find another post.
