the original reposter never got back to me. but, once again on my personal account, said post wound up on my feed in reel form with over 15k likes, from another reposter. I commented with my writing account. we’ll see what happens. the whole situation is more funny to me than anything, but credit would still be nice
that moment when not only does one of your posts get reposted by a random instagram account and not only does it get over 70,000 likes and not only does it reach your personal feed, but two of your closest irls have liked it

“how did you get into writing” girl nobody gets into writing. writing shows up one day at your door and gets into you

the thing that many writers, including myself, forget about first drafts is that they're the author's draft. every other draft can be for the readers, but the first is for you and your eyes only.
and use that advantage. don't know what to write? just leave a note and skip it. getting bored? write the scene sarcastically. want to try an idea but know it will cause plot holes? write it anyway! you can do anything. let your first draft be the most self-indulgent thing you have ever created. just let it exist.

hold on there, that’s not in the budget
if you didn’t get your OCs anything for christmas, this is your friendly reminder that it’s not too late to surprise them. they’ll likely appreciate anything, but here are some ideas:
- less trauma

it’s officially the season of christmas/winter vibes
therefore, i will be ignoring the impending final projects and exams and fully embracing the season with peppermint hot chocolate, fluffy blankets, patterned sweaters, heaps of books, and hopefully plenty of writing sessions

hate that inspiration tends to hit at times like when you’re driving or showering
like, hold on, let me just pull out my notes. road safety? irrelevant. water damage? never heard of her.

what people think the most time-consuming part of writing is: writing
what it actually is: stopping every few sentences to fact-check, make sure a word means what you thought it meant, find synonyms, revert to the outline…

time passes so quickly these days, and it terrifies me. how long before it’s all gone? what if we don’t even notice it slip away?

bury me where the wildflowers grow
where the roots can bleed into my hollowed-out skull
because my worst fear is not to die
it’s to be empty

the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.

if you ever feel bad about your writing, remember that you did not publish this line:
“Aro started to laugh. ‘Ha, Ha, Ha,’ he chuckled.”
—Stephanie Meyer, New Moon
also a friendly reminder that this book became a bestseller. if this can do it, so can you.

me, writing at midnight: this is brilliant. profound. i don’t know why i ever doubted my writing ability.
me, reading it in the morning: …
me, reading it in the morning: i used a colon three sentences in a row

sometimes when you try to take a picture of the sunset it doesn’t seem to come out right. that doesn’t make it any less beautiful.
sometimes when you try to write down your idea it doesn’t seem to come out right. that doesn’t make it any less beautiful. even if it’s not how you pictured it, somebody will read it and never expect it differently. you may only see the beauty of what could’ve been, but readers will see the beauty of what is.
