a tint of perhaps a little premature triumph tugged at the corners of shego’s lips in the form of a mischievous smile. she had always had an eye for the weaknesses of others, taught to find soft spots to pierce her ever sharply filed fingernails in by a competitive collection of brothers and trained in the years she’d spent studying children to notice the wounds which would undeniably have their impact through no matter what development. it wasn’t difficult to notice how, in the years shego had already despised princess possible in, no one quite seemed to notice the less dynamic part of the duo. “ hego– “ the name was spoken in an exasperated sigh, her exhaustion underlined by the rather harsh closing of her door, “ –is working on a side project, including his younger brothers and the ridiculous company name ‘ team go ‘. “ her eyes glanced at ron, sceptically wandering over his figure slouched in her expensive car seats as though his presence threatened to destroy them — the nachos, however, were gone, she noticed with an arch of a single eyebrow ( she would’ve expected greater resistance on that one ) but refused to acknowledge it otherwise. instead, she started the car, finding the perfect excuse to staring of nonchalantly as she talked about her infuriating family by looking at the street. “ the company is directly threatening mine ( or drakken’s, if you will ). “ either way, her job was at stakes. “ but i happen to know hego loves the bueno nacho, enough to focus – if anything was to happen to it – “ there was a suggestive tone in her voice, her gaze briefly flickering to stoppable. “ –he would focus on that — that’s where i want your help. “
ron raised his eyebrows, curious, when shego began to explain what was happening with hego. “I uh, I think it’s kind of a clever name - hego, mego, shego...I mean, he made something good out of some pretty weird names...” but what did shego care for what he found clever? she probably thought she was far superior in intellect than ron and he didn’t blame her for thinking so. it wasn’t like he was the sharpest crayon in the toolbox, or whatever the saying was. but he liked to think he was creative and he liked to think he had good ideas. “okay - so you want me to like...keep him busy at bueno nacho? like, more hours? or you want me to like...create drama so he feels threatened and wants to work harder to stay? I mean...why don’t you and whatever your boss’ name just work with his team if he’s doing so good?”

Peyton had spent the morning with his cat Minx in his bedroom, the fluffball having had some issues adjusting to the move. Once he was sure she’d be okay if he left her again, he emerged from his room to grab a bowl of oatmeal from the cupboard. He’d heard Ron out in the other room, not paying much mind to his new roommate, until the other spoke and he wondered if the apartment would always be this lively or if this was just because it was all so new.
“H-Hi, Ron…” He greeted, skirting past the other to duck into the attached kitchen and dig through the cabinets. It took a moment to realize what the question he’d been posed and he paused his search, freezing and then awkwardly turning around. “P-Play what?”
Peyton seemed shy, but it didn’t really phase Ron - he was pretty open-minded and very accepting when it came to different people. He knew not everyone could be as outgoing as he was - but he didn’t really think of boundaries as a thing. He knew he had his own boundaries, but sometimes he forgot other people had different ones.
“A video game! I brought my Nintendo Switch, duh - “ he stated, because as soon as Ron got a job, Ron bought everything he had ever wanted. “I’m playing Super Smash Bros - have you ever played before?”

Barely looking away from the television screen ( one that was still sitting precariously on the floor while they were looking for a stand or entertainment center ), Ron greeted his roommate when he heard a bedroom door shut. Knowing that Charlie was out, he called “Hey, Pey! Wanna play - ?” Pausing, he let out a laugh. “That rhymed. I should be a rapper.” It was his first day off from Bueno Nacho in awhile and he was finally feeling free. Adulthood could be pretty sweet - he was still in his pajama bottoms at 3pm in the afternoon playing Super Smash Bros. If he’d stayed home, he’d be watching Hanna and cleaning the house to his mother’s liking.

Charlie grinned back at Ron, happy to match his enthusiasm. He was eager to move in with Ron. They hadn’t been close for a long time, but now that they were roommates, they could rekindle that friendship. He welcomed him into his home and laughed as Ron looked over his stuff. “Yeah, I’m sort of realizing I have too much shit. Maybe when we get to our new place, I can go through it again and you and P can take what you like,” he said, clapping Ron on the back. “Let’s just get this shit on the truck? I don’t think there’s anything too important in here.” He moved to lift a box, “Just be careful with the boxes marked fragile.”
It could be the start of something good. A chance to grow into the man he was supposed to be - vague memories of his bar mitzvah came flooding back, being pronounced as a man in the eyes of God - he just remembered feeling like he wasn’t enough. He wasn’t grown up yet and though years had passed, he still felt like that 13 year old boy, stumbling over Hebrew words in front of an audience - feeling like an imposter. “Hey, I’m not gonna turn down free stuff - “ Ron laughed before nodding his head dutifully. “Maybe it’d do best for me not to touch those boxes.”
#i'm not sure if you want to continue this or skip ahead or whatever#i just really wanted to write that portion for ron's sake lol#( replies )#charmingxxxcharlie

“I’m sure, like, 70 percent of this is so fake,” Kim scoffed playfully as the earbud spun tight around her finger, making her jerk it another direction to make it loosen up, “I don’t think any of these people would actually do half these things if they weren’t surrounded by producers and cameras….” she raised one eyebrow in suspicion, “Or would they?”
“Kim - this is television. People don’t lie on television - “ though he knew that was certainly not true, it didn’t stop him from saying it. He liked talking. “I mean, think about it - if you or me were on television, wouldn’t you try to look...like...really good? Who wants to look bad on television?” He posed, as if it was the deepest question of the century. “I don’t know. I just like watching stupid stuff with you.”

ron didn’t laugh, but hadley did—he’d known the other boy long enough to have a pretty good feel of when he was joking. at least, he hoped he did. “thanks,” he said as ron helped him gather everything up. “oh, it—it’s for school. extra credit, technically—i haven’t finished the main project but this is way more interesting, you know?
ron prided himself on his dead-pan deliveries and his - hmmm, moronic act? though he certainly wasn’t the town’s genius, but he was - well, average in his opinion. it was just easier to coast through life acting dumb. he raised an eyebrow. “really, man? extra credit before the main project? i don’t think i’ve ever done extra credit in my life...not unless I was failing a course...I think you need a life right now.”

“I’m usually so not about the drama,” Kim comments, lifting her head up gently from her phone, the connection to her headphones reaching up to only one of her ears as she spins the other earbud cord around her index finger, “but this is actually pretty fun to watch.” She chuckles as she looks down at the reality show shenanigans that occur on her screen.

“What’d I tell you?” Ron teased, a smirk upon his face - his eyebrows raised in a questioning manner. “90 Day Fiance gives you so many emotions at once. First of all - it’s funny. Second of all, sometimes the desperation is sad - sometimes it’s cringey and sometimes it makes you angry because some of these people...they’re awful. I love it, though.”

Summer had all but officially arrived in Sunnyside, and Anna knew that meant a few new summer-friendly wardrobe items would be necessary. After perusing through some sundresses and flip flops, she spotted someone holding a particularly gorgeous piece. “Oh my god, you have to get that!” she exclaimed, excitedly rushing over to her fellow shopper. “I mean, look at it! It was positively made for you! Oh, but, don’t worry- I’m not trying to sell you on it or anything. I don’t even work here! Or anywhere, for that matter. Maybe I should apply somewhere? Hmmm…”
“Are - are you sure?” Ron asked, a curious look upon his face. He was never into fashion - most of his clothes came from Smarty Mart and he thought the more simple, the better. In fact - he had many of the same shirts and pants so he never had to fuss over an outfit. Though with summer looming, he was thinking of diversifying his style just a tad. He held in his hands a short denim jacket - something he could theoretically throw over a t-shirt and pair with shorts. He thinks? “I’ve never worn a jean jacket before, you know - it seems kind of...bold?” He gave a light chuckle to the words that came out of her mouth next. She was quite a rambler. “If you want a job, I’d hop on it quickly. All the college kids are getting out, looking for summer jobs.”

This, Violet decided, was her worst nightmare. Here she was at Lahui Surf and Bar, fresh iced coffee in one hand and old, worn, loved copy of Patti Sith’s ‘Just Kids’ in the other. The plan had been to sit down and sip her coffee while tuning out the rest of the world in the midst of her book, but here was the kicker: every table was taken. Violet, against her better judgement, was going to have to approach a stranger and ask them to let her sit. You can do this, Vi, she thought to herself, just go with the person closest to you. She did exactly that, approaching them with shaking hands and quivering breath. “C-can I sit here?” she spat out quickly. “There are no other tables open.”

Ron, sat scrolling on his phone - running numbers on his calculator, a sheet of paper in front of him. Yes, Ron Stoppable was doing the most adult thing he could think of. Budgeting. His father was an actuary and though Ron wasn’t really a math guy - he had no fear of numbers. Barely looking up, he nodded to the voice. “Yeah - no problem.” He stared at the piece of paper in shame, writing a statistic on the side. “I’m going to have to at least cut down on at least 47% of my fast food money AND pick up at least at least 10% more shifts...” he groaned in horror. He would have spoken whether or not someone was here, but it was nice to have an audience. “Uh, I guess you’d like some context? I’m moving out this weekend and I’m looking at a budget and it’s uh, not going so great.”

“ EXCUSE ME – YOU ! “, jubileena called out to the very first person she saw near her, an enthusiastic smile on her lips – she’d only vaguely saw the back of their head, so whether she knew the addressee or not was as much as a surprise to her as it would probably be to them – as she waved over to them, motioning for them to join her momentarily. “ do you have any plans ? because there’s this movie playing at the drive-inn tonight and… well… i cannot show up A L O N E… “, she explained her case, shrugging nonchalantly as she pouted a little, hoping it’d have an effect.
ron turned around, a shocked look upon his face as he walked towards the girl. she wanted him to do what? “wait - you want me to go with you?” though it seemed as if she would have asked anyone, ron still felt kind of - special? “I mean, no - I don’t have plans. But um...are you sure? Or are you just messing with me?”

“I mean, maybe it’s not an overreaction, per se. Could be some type of traumatic experience with pineapple or something. Y’know, they tear families apart and all that. Maybe that is where the hate stems from.” It was a sad attempt at a joke. Nothing new for Tammy, though. The last time Tammy told a joke that was even relatively funny was when she was in middle school. “The perfect result? What warrants the perfect result for pizza then?” She questioned, eyes perking up at the question. “Favorite? mushrooms with pepperoni. I can’t pick just one so they’re both my favorite topping. What’s yours?”
Ron found himself chuckling at her joke. Maybe he was an easy audience - but the idea of any fruit tearing a family apart was hilarious. “They’re pretty acidic. I hear that while you’re eating pineapples, pineapples are eating you - so I can imagine the trauma one must go through.” He grinned. “Looks good and tastes good. If it’s only one or the other, it can’t be perfect - “ he stated. “it’s gotta be something Gordan Ramsey would be proud of...and wow - mushrooms? I rarely hear that response. My favorite is bacon, definitely. Second favorite being sausage. I would starve as a vegetarian.”

“And there’s coffee!” Peter included on though it’s a consolation. Hey, itlate, and he knows it. Some caffeine is a good boost for the system. Oh, andRon being a foodie is infinity-brownie points. “I got my bike outside.” Hepointed at the motorcycle a few meters behind him. “It’s about 10 to 15 minutesmax near Snack Shack.” He guesstimated, at this hour. “You get to wear myhelmet, of course.” That’s right, safety is important.
“Okay - completely sold. Like, 500% above market price.” When Peter mentioned taking his motorbike, Ron hesitated. He had never been on a motorcycle before and he could imagine all the bad things that could happen on one. “Well, yeah - I need the helmet more. Um - I’ve never been on a motorcycle. How do I uh, not fall off? I have to hold onto you, right?” Well, they might not be that close now, but they’d reach a new level of intimacy soon Ron supposed.

☆゚*·゚HANGING out with friends was one of Fawn’s favorite things to do. She loved introducing her friends to good restaurants and keeping up to date on their lives. When Ron asked her not to make him eat rabbit food, she couldn’t help but laugh. There were still plenty of places they could go. In fact, she knew a great one. “Okay, okay, fine, how does The Lost Empire sound to you? You know, by Atlantis beach. They make really good vegetarian burgers for me, so I’d be perfectly happy there. But you gotta update me on your life. I need to know all the happenings,” she explained. Fawn adored hanging out with Ron. He was always so much fun.
“Sounds amazing. I’ve been eating so much Bueno Nacho that even I think real food sounds like a great change,” He laughed. “but I have a lot to update you on - like, you’re going to be shocked and amazed. I’m not even sure you’ll believe me - but you gotta wait until we get to the restaurant! So come on, get in my car.”

“Y-Yeah, uh, Charlie m-mentioned it. Y-You’re okay with-with living with me?” Peyton asked, wary of the situation. He didn’t want either Ron nor Charlie to feel obligated to live with him. He could always work something else out. “I-I don’t, um, w-want to be a-a burden… Um…”
“Hell, at this point in my life I’d live with a fire breathing dragon. I just want to get out of my parents house - I’m 23!” He groaned, but realizing it probably wasn’t the most friendly thing to say, he added “besides, I think you’ll be a great roommate. You’re very nice and kind of quiet - isn’t that like, what people ook for in roommates? Really I should be asking if you’re really okay living with me.”

⛧┈♛ Charlie
Charlie stepped away from the pile of boxes that he’d stacked besides the stairs. His entire life was packed into a small mountain of cardboard. The height surprised him, considering the boxes contained everything he owned. While he went through the house, collecting his things over the last few days, it occurred to him just how much his dad picked out for him. Everything from the dishes to the towels in his bathroom were put in place specifically to remind him of his childhood home. It was Law’s way of subtly manipulating him into wanting to come home that backfired spectacularly. Instead, Charlie felt trapped in his room even while he lived alone. He took a deep breath through his nose before the doorbell rang. He spun and moved to open the door. He grinned at the person on the other side. “Hey, thanks for coming. I appreciate the help,” he said moving to let them in. “Phipps is at my uncle’s place during the move so we can leave the door open.”
@sunnysidestarters
“No problemo, roomie!” Ron happily stated, a grin upon his face - him and KP had already packed his room up, but it scared him how little he actually owned. He thought he would have to do some serious shopping - but when he looked at Charlie’s mountain, he thought - maybe Charming has enough to share. “whoa, dude - I can see why you need some help. I uh, only had four boxes.” But maybe it wasn’t exactly polite to point out class differences between the pair and he quickly changed the subject. “Uh, what do you want me to do first? Just load the boxes on the truck? I promise I’ll try not to drop anything,”

“ AND THAT IS why i don’t like horror movies. they’re just not realistic. “, tigger concluded the conversation he had pretty much been holding all by himself, based on the most insignificant little comment the other person had made ( in all honesty, he didn’t even remember what it was anymore – it just… spiraled. pretty quickly. ). “ not because i’m S C A R E D. pfft. please. me ? never. “, he said in his own defense, as if he actually n e e d e d to clear that up. “ anyways – got any nice plans for the weekend ? “, the guy eventually asked, all too gladly moving on from the topic with an encouraging smile.
“sounds...uh, kind of fake, man - but okay. whatever sinks your submarine.” ron was always a great listener which right now - he kind of hated. he had simply told the man he didn’t think it was realistic for him to become an adult overnight. “yeah - i’m moving this weekend. kind of...crazy? i mean, i’m not going to be alone, but my parents won’t be there. i’ve lived with them for 22 years and now it’s...over. i’m an adult. Weird.”

“come on, you know that’s not what i meant. i just mean that–– you’re not jaded like the rest of us, i think,” kim couldn’t put it into words. things were changing, and ron leaving his home to somewhere that was his was like severing the last tie they had to childhood, “so-called adulthood can change that.” her smile grew as he admitted to the assumption he’d had; it was a given that she’d be there to help him move. it was a given that she’d be there to help him with anything he really needed. “i’ll get the twins in on it, too. you’ll have the whole possible moving crew in on it,” she laughed, settling further into the comfort of her bed. she turned her face to look at him, soft smile still causing her lips to curve slightly upwards. it was routine, the closeness, the laughter, the ease, but for some reason, with the way sunnyside had changed– the way they had changed– something felt heavier this time. like a moment like this was more valuable than usual.
“not possible,” kim immediately shook her head as he verbalized the thought of hana hating him, “first of all, you’re moving out, not falling off the face of the earth, and secondly––…” she shrugged, looking up at the ceiling as she finished, “she could never. actually, i don’t think anyone could ever. especially not someone you love so blatantly.” and they fell into a momentary silence. a silence in which her thoughts took over. she tried to imagine a world where ron wasn’t, a world in which he did fall off the face of the earth, and it made her skin crawl. he was her better half of two decades, and she wouldn’t want it any other way, which is why, maybe, her own stomach churned at the thought of change, and she broke the tension with the whack of a pillow. “ugh, so much time at bueno nacho,” kim gripped her stomach and distress, “i’m going to have to start eating there regularly just to see you. my gradually slowing metabolism can only handle so much ron.”
being around her best friend brought out a softer side of kim– someone more playful, more tender. a fit of laughter followed her own dramatics before she settled in and listened to him answer the question: how do you feel. her eyebrows raised in curiosity as he dropped the names of his roommates, but she softened as he continued. “ron, no one’s good at adulthood. if they appear to be, they’re totally faking it. hell, even i suck at the adult gig sometimes. besides, mess is what you’re good at,” she bumped her shoulder against his, “mess is what we’re good at. this is just–– the first step to something greater.” kim took a deep breath and turned to him again, “and i know it won’t entirely ease your mind, but i think you’re fully capable of doing this. no doubt.” she held his gaze for a beat too long, then looked away, “so–– charlie charming and peyton bennett, huh? how’d that come to be?”
he could still see them as toddlers - him tripping over his feet (okay he still did that but still) - the innocent way they’d stand together holding hands as kids do before they realize the opposite sex has cooties. wrestling in the backyard and her climbing trees and daring him to be brave - they were just kids yesterday, weren’t they? now here they were - her graduating college, him moving out - well damn. he wondered how their parents felt seeing them still friends after all these years and watching them grow up. ron was innocent - he was naive, he was hardly bitter towards anyone (shego aside and even still - their relationship could be more of a...bickering type of thing. he wasn’t completely terrified of her.) and the world still seemed genuinely good to him. some might even say he was pure of heart. “they’re gonna start negotiating salaries for this moving company, you know that - “ he laughed. the twins were like his younger brothers. completely annoying, but...you know, lovable.
ron nodded his head as he took all that information in. okay, maybe hana wouldn’t hate him - and he’d still be living in the bayou so he could still see her and babysit her sometimes. “okay, okay - fair point. it’s gonna be kind of hard. sometimes i feel like she’s actually my child - “ he laughed. “i don’t wanna see her crocodile tears. but i’m going to try to visit her a lot.” you could never hate anyone you blatantly love. he liked that - the way she worded it. ron liked most of the words that came out of her mouth (barring the eat healthier comments) - or maybe he just liked the sound of her voice. like it was home to him. when he heard it he just felt comfortable, he could just nestle into bed and listen to her voice all day. “bueno nacho has that rabbit food you like,” he teased, purposely bumping into her side. “besides, i’ll give you the discount every time and you can just bring the food home to the tweebs.”
kim sucking at anything sounded, well, impossible. the exact opposite of who she was. he wondered if it was hard for her to live up to her name. he felt it was easy for him to live up to his. (maybe because he focused on the stoppable part and not the “unstoppable” bit) but mess was what he was good at. “the ron factor,” he grinned, the universal law they made up when they were in high school. ron messed things up in a way that made everything work out. like an avalanche that defeated a yeti - or something or other. “wait, no - that does help a lot, KP. just you being there for me after all this time does - “ he was serious for a minute, before scrunching his nose up in disgust. ew, feelings. “weird story. my mom had just called me on my lunch break at bueno nacho and said i had to watch hana because i don’t pay rent - but it was the same night you wanted to take me to a party to um, socialize or whatever - and then i hung up and went back to work but i was complaining, you know i said ‘I’ll give you free bueno nacho for a year in exchange for your couch -’ and then i looked up and it was charlie charming, which was like, ahhh - weird, you know? because of our whole falling out in middle school which he probably doesn’t even remember - “ but ron does because he always focuses on the negative. “but he legit offered me a place and i couldn’t deny, you know? like what an amazing opportunity. as my parents would say that’s The Lord himself so I took it and Peyton just became roped in.” he rambled, before taking a huge breath. “so i guess thanks for inviting me to that party i couldn’t go to?” in the end, he guessed, everything good in his life led back to kim.
