i would make jeremy fragrance fall in love with me and then i would start having "attacks" of a mysterious illness and pay someone to pretend to be a doctor who tells jeremy that im allergic to alcohol and certain essential oils he needs to stop wearing perfume or i could die and then when he doesnt stop i fake my death and reappear to him as a ghost so he gets scared prays to god for salvation and i run off in a plume of smoke so he thinks it works and so he decides to become a monk and devote himself to god forever and then while hes in the monastery he realizes hes gay and runs off to live with another monk in the alps

thinking about night watch again and about how john keel is a ghost for the entirety of the novel. his name is the only name visible on the graves in the present. six illegible graver markers and one which reads john keel. we know he died in the past before we know anything else about him. and we know he was important - not just to vimes but to the mixed group of people who gather at the grave to remember him.
and by the time we (vimes) realise we are there in the past, keel is already gone. hes dead, and now vimes is wearing his name as he navigates through what should have been keel's final days. and john keel haunts the narrative continuously, from before we even see his gravestone to the very end, and not just bc vimes is now keel. almost every decision vimes makes has keel's spectre hanging over it - what did keel do? how did keel think in this moment? keels influence on vimes was so huge and the impact of his death so great that u cannot separate keel from the story.
even if hes never actually in it

I kept some yogurt's lids and tried to animate on them. I made 17 frames and I am quite satisfied with the result

When people say that Melian looks like an elf, they're mostly just being charitable. It's clear, of course, that she tried very hard to make herself a proper elvish form– pointed ears, long, graceful limbs, flowing hair. But it's just... a little off. Like an artist's stylization of an elf, rather than the actual thing. Her ears are too long, set at the wrong angle, and they often move as though they have a mind of their own. The way she moves is graceful, certainly, but it is the grace of the wind or the waves, not of an elf. And no one can ever render her hair right in pictures– it has a volume and shine to it that it really shouldn't.
It is these features which Melian passes, with very little contribution from Thingol, on to her daughter. Luthien is beautiful, yes, but no less strange than her mother. And so it goes with Dior, with Elwing, with Elros and Elrond– Melian's own attempts to feign at elvishness mark them all with eeriely similar faces and forms. It takes a couple dozen generation of Numenorian kings before her features really disappear from the line.
Elrond, in particular, is not sure how to feel about this. Particularly on the days he looks in the mirror and sees his mother, but can't see himself.

theres a torchlit cave underneath the earth where the faces of every living persons different expressions are hung on the walls as masks and a lonely stone imp feeds them subway sandwiches when the corresponding person makes that expression on the surface

as newspapers today dont tend to hire children, a modern day Tintin would run a clickbait YouTube channel, except the clickbait is 100% real every single time
he starts off as an irritating conservative pundit at 14, meets Chang then leaves the think tank paying him and launches his own independent channel and blows up shortly after. Chang helps with video editing and managing his socials and they often chat on video calls between adventures. Haddock, his foster dad, has absolutely no knowledge of his earlier videos.

The Paris Olympics insisting that athletes compete in the Seine is so absurd it feels like something Terry Pratchett would want to make fun of. Like can you imagine him writing a Discworld story about a mad Ankh-Moorpark city official deciding to put on some ancient extravagant game, creating havoc in the city by bringing in all these foreigners to compete, and insisting the Ankh river, which is so filthy it's basically solid, is perfectly fine to swim in, because that's what they did in ancient times so that's how they're going to do it now. I feel like it would be a Night's Watch story about the people hired to clean the river and all the friends and horrors they discover along the way.
Good luck to all the athletes swimming in the poop water.
