It was clear that there was some connection there that both of them felt it, but mind was too clouded at the moment. Her thoughts were confusing as she didn’t know exactly what was a memory, what was an old dream or what was pure imagination originated by that almost magical perfume.
“I’m sure you meant a lot to her, I can feel the passion in this perfume.” Mio finally murmured as she forced herself to smile. “ I’m alright, I apologize. The scent was very powerful and it seems to have made me feel breathless for a moment.” She took one last deep breath and looked at him.
“ Have you made more perfumes inspired by people in your life? From your past? Is there a perfume that’s purely insired by you, like a self portrait.” She found herself very curious about this man and they both seemed to be playing a game together. As if there was some unspoken words they couldn’t say out loud. But she felt that asking him about his passion was a better way of getting to know him.

It was entirely possible that the woman who had entered his store was not the same woman he had once given his all to, followed blindly into battle, and paid the price dearly for her. It was possible, he supposed, but the coincidence of two women with such firey red hair and delicate features roaming Tokyo and coming into his store of all places was far too unlikely. His smile widened.
“It would be my pleasure,” he all but crooned, stepping out from behind the counter. He approached her like a frightened animal, not the least because of her expression.
“Are you shopping for yourself or is it a gift?”

Beryl didn’t allow just anyone inside her chambers, specially without being summoned. But there was something about Kunzite, the way he always presented himself to her and the way he didn’t bow in fear as most of her minions did, made Beryl want to pay some extra attention to him. She would even allow such behaviour knowing Kunzite didn’t waste his breath on pointless words.
She lazily gestured him for him to walk in to the center of the room, since she was standing on the other side and there was no point for them to speak from such distance. She also stepped coser.
When she heard the youngest Shitennou’s name, she glanced at her unmade bed. ‘’ Oh, what a a pity, you just missed him. He was here just a few minutes ago.’’ Beryl mentioned very casually. “ Maybe that’s why he came to chambers so late at night instead of... I thought he just wanted to enjoy my company.” The Queen shrugged a bit disappointed but then quickly regretted saying those words out loud. Not because it was a secret that Jadeite spent some nights with her, but she hadn’t allowed him to speak before they went to bed together. She didn’t want Kunzite to think she was unfit as a leader, letting her lust intervene with their cause. But of course Kunzite wouldn’t think such thing, he adored her too much.
The Queen invited him to sit down with her near the fire. There were some arm chairs facing the fire with a small table between them. “ What makes you think he has some useful information? Do you know something I don’t, perhaps?”

She cut an imposing figure, even in such an intimate setting. Kunzite stopped himself from taking a step back as Queen Beryl approached. A lesser man might have knelt, to hide his fear in a bowed head. To show fear in the Dark Kingdom was to lose everything, and Kunzite was not the leader of the Shitennou for his lack of mettle. He stood before her, tall and proud.
The truth was, with Zoisite away on a mission and his home empty, Kunzite had found his vision blurring over endless maps and plans to find the silver crystals, and chose to wander the halls of the Dark Kingdom. Though he might not admit it or perhaps even realize, he was drawn to his queen's power. Like a moth to a flame, each step took him towards her chambers to gaze upon her with his own eyes.
"I wished to find Jadeite's chambers," he lied, forcing himself to look into her eyes.
"He may have left information about the silver crystal. Anything may be helpful to our cause."

Mio found it hard to believe, she knew everything in this world was fake and made inside tiny test tubes in giant laboratories. Apparently they even made that why too. She could smell people on the streets drenched in artificial and nauseating scents.
He spoke spoke fondly and with passion of his work, and even though she was sceptical she accepted to try the sample. She extended her arm to him, offering her thin wrist for him to spray the perfume on it and cautiously smelled it afterwards.
The violets and bergamot hit her first like an old dream she had forgotten about. Long walks on a beautiful garden, eating fresh fruit on the grass. Then, the cerdawood violently swept those images aways. Wood on fire, anger burning inside her chest. And finally, the most painful, the rose. A heartache and treason.
She stepped back, speechless and looked at him confused. Mio frowned as she tried to catch her breath. “ There’s no doubt those scents are natural. Why did you make that perfume? Were you... waiting for me?”
