I had a thought, did Starscream have a trine in your starsky comic? If so I imagine they're dead now, right? Did Skyfire know them?

I'm just imagining him learning about that. Or the fall of Vos... So much bad stuff has happened to the Seekers, and to Starscream.

my starscream will always be an awful self-centred shitbag, like we see in the show. I don't really fuck with woobified, 'was secretly good all along and just trying his best and wants what's best for his people' interpretations (though no shade to anyone who does enjoy that, obvs!)

but

I don't think he got to his nadir of shittiness without a whole metric ton of trauma and loss being dumped upon him on the way

I find that very fun to prod at!

He's a character with great redemption potential, who consistently (in canon) chooses to turn away from those opportunities and pursue his own power-hungry ends. While he's driven by hubris, he's also driven - deep down - by his deep-seated inferiority complex and his fear of anyone else holding power (because of course, with his life experience, he presumes that anyone who establishes themselves as his superior will abuse him. He wants to snatch that mythologised status of 'leader' at any cost, so that he can abuse others rather than being abused, because he's internalised that this is what power looks like. And just - EUGH. Eugh. What a character! I'm obsessed).

Which is all to say.... uhhhhh he did lose his trine in this AU. It's why he stripped his paint (which I headcanon as being a mourning thing among seekers). But that is just one of many, many tragedies that conspired with Starscream's own terrible choices to make him the little bitch (affectionate) that we all know and love today.

He truly is 99 coping mechanisms in a maladaptive trenchcoat. Skyfire believes he can 'fix' him, but it honestly ain't gonna be that simple...
