"I’m very concerned about my client’s right to a fair trial in this case. He’s being prejudiced by some statements that are being made by government officials. Like every other defendant, he’s entitled to a presumption of innocence. But unfortunately the way this has been handled so far his rights are being violated. And as you know, Your Honor, there’s a wealth of case law guaranteeing his rights to a fair trial, but none of the safeguards have been put in place yet here — in fact it’s just the opposite of what’s been happening.
He’s a young man, and he is being treated like a human pingpong ball between two warring jurisdictions here.
These federal and state prosecutors are coordinating with one another at the expense of him. They have conflicting theories in their indictment, and they are literally treating him like he is some sort of political fodder, like some sort of spectacle.
He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest staged perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career. It was absolutely unnecessary. He’s been cooperative with law enforcement. He’d been in custody for over a week. He waived extradition. He was cooperative at all accounts. There was no reason for the NYPD and everybody to have these big assault rifles — that frankly I had no idea it was in their arsenal — and to have all the press there the media there. It was perfectly choreographed.
And what was the New York City Mayor doing at this press conference, Your Honor? That just made it utterly political. And as your honor knows under Loro v. Charles, the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit has held it to be clearly established that these staged perp walks to the media unrelated to a legitimate law enforcement objective is unconstitutional. And I submit that there was zero law enforcement objective to do that sort of perp walk. There’s absolutely no need for that whatsoever.
And frankly, Your Honor, the mayor should know more than anyone about the presumption of innocence that he, too, is afforded dealing with his own issues. And, frankly, I submit that he was just trying to detract from those issues by making a spectacle of Mr. Mangione.
And there are consequences to this.
He has a right to a fair trial. And I just want to put on the record statements that the mayor made publicly about my client. Nothing saying “alleged” for example. And he said “I wanted to send a strong message with the police commissioner that we’re leading from the front. I’m not just going to allow him to come into our city. I wanted to look him in the eye and state ‘You carried out this terrorist act in my city, the city of New York that I love.’” And he wanted to show symbolism.
Your Honor, he’s not a symbol. He’s somebody who is afforded the right to a fair trial. He’s innocent until proven guilty. And the mayor was talking to jurors — future potential jurors that elected him. Those are the people that elected him that he is talking to and calling this man a terrorist.
So, Your Honor, I just want to make a record of this and put everyone on notice that this has to stop, and my client is entitled to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence."

i thinkit would be cool if there was an omegaverse but for salmon instead of wolves. Like when the time comes certain members of society get really juicy musclewise and get yiffy fangs and are suddenly compelled to return to the neighborhood they grew up in and 96 hours later show up barefoot in full starvation mode and ravaged by walking through interstate traffic to fuck whoevwr smells the best in the local burger king. Then afterwards they die and disintegrate to be eaten by seagulls in the parking lot

I think there's something to be said that saying the words "Deny, Defend, Depose, you're next" to an insurance sales rep can get you arrested for 'threats of mass homicide' or whatever with a threat of 15 years in prison
But when I was a manager in a fast food restaurant I've had customers throw food at me, demand for my personal phone number with an added threat of "Well I'll just have to FIND it", customers charging past the front counter to physically intimidate me and my coworkers, screaming and swearing, demands to know what time I get out of work, demands to know when my manager would be at work as a threat, people sitting in their car waiting for me to finish closing because they were angry at me, causing me to stay in the office watching the camera waiting for them to drive away...
But none of those incidents are arrest-able offenses, not one, any time I called the cops on any customer I would just hear excuses like " "there isn't anything illegal about calling a restaurant", that nothing physical happened and therefore there's nothing they could do, to call back and let them know if anything else happens
Idk, just think it's A TEENY TINY BIT ODD
Cop in the news goes "words have consequences" as if people don't berate and threaten fast food and retail workers every day

Obviously the key reason to get into weaving is the near limitless pride flag potential.
This is 8 metres of trans warp threaded for 5 different twills. Winding the warp went SO MUCH BETTER than my first project a couple weeks ago and I am especially proud of how smoothly my warp chains unravelled.
With the trans yarns I also ordered sample cards for a couple different yarn companies so that I can compose some rainbow flag variants.
Hype hype hypeeeee

I channeled my inner @seananmcguire and engaged in Mari Lwyd poetry battle with my other partner and meta last night. Many giggles and excellent verse ensued, the poor bony beast was finally granted entry, and I'm just left feeling so happy and lucky in my poly group that we can tease and challenge and inspire each other.
Meanwhile the three year old finally noticed all the she/her that my family tries to use for my Aerialist, exclaimed "[Aerialist] is a girl?!" and more or less understood when I explained that sometimes girls don't all look the same, some have short hair (like your little sister!) or big muscles from doing sports, but if they know they're a girl, then they're a girl.
So hey some joy on the longest night.
#personal#i was particularly happy with rhyming Camembert and mare myself#also Aerialist got a sneaky little trans flag finger tattoo so it was just a great day all around#can't wait to marry that woman

Hey, so, have you read Feed and all the Newsflesh books by Mira Grant (aka @seananmcguire)? They're fantastic and I love them and I totally had my heart ripped out and cried several times so much fun! Highly recommended!

This is a month and a half old so I don't know if anybody else has shared this article already. Also sharing a couple excerpts but please read the article in full. Especially with things flying around like the Texas Attorney General trying to obtain a list of transgender people and recently not allowing anybody to change their legal gender marker anymore (although, to be clear, Texas requires subpoena for access to this information currently). I don't know, if this informs your choice on what route you want to go with HRT for the better (i.e. DIY), I'm glad to have posted it.
Here is the map (check alt text for text list):
Because testosterone is already a scheduled drug, this is more immediately a concern for people taking masculinizing HRT. But there is definitely concern for estrogen facing the same treatment:
(PDMP is prescription drug monitoring program)
Here's the conclusion of the article, which I really hope you click on, but is important enough to attach anyway:
Obviously the election has passed. With the knowledge that Trump will be imminently president, please consider your options if you plan on starting HRT.
