Purple Medal Petals

Industrial chic of the coffee black

bleak as a night's sky-

foggy steel like my thoughts gone awry.

Sad sandstone gone,

trickled down whiskered cheeks

time, overgrown

like the last summer's lawn

and cool drinks from the hose on the farm.

I long for days spun back then-

records

smashed on the floor for fun

and tap-dancing teeth from the laughter

as two become one.

Casting L words for lots-

of flesh and blood,

and sweat and passion.

Sex fashioned from a makeshift friendship-

not perfect, but ours.

Digits slipped together,

holding hands like a clock in an analogue winter

as we wander

lusting for leaving and learning-

thirsting for knowledge and whiskey kisses-

tangled hair, not assuming

an expiration to this snowglobe existence.

And distance creeps in,

tiny holes filling, expanding

like minds in a worldly classroom

as just one bite of the apple-

blinking, dismantled

and left with no seats in the garden or boat

as here comes the roar of the storm.

Leave room in the tomb and the womb

for Jesus at the inn next time-

If it pleases-

I'll straighten my tie and crack my spine.

Just look pretty and finish watered down wine-

As salty boons, wept on the floor

are swept to the sea's corridor

and we walk, talking-

side by side on the tide.

Question marks-

the spot for digestion and processing

redemption and confessions of

progressing transgressions

and lingering obsessions from

what possesses the mind of a man gone mad

once.

And unbalanced plan

of attack

and defenders pretend that the favors

they send to their sweethearts from warzones

make amends for their sins.

And the world is left swimming through cosmic dust,

winging it's way through ashen clay stars

and open fields and wide rivers of dead oxen and lust.

Yet those tiny two hands

clasped once with a promise

now fists full of empty

and lonely shamed

fire gripped tightly betwixt middle

and indexed text read between lines left unsung.

Puffing clouds full of rage at the sun.

Close your eyes- generations-

and inhale - homo-sapiens-

expect all of your lies to live sacrificed

giving all for those who pick purple medal petals

and let blind fate choose whether she loves

or loves me not.

For it's not for a flawed heart to decide.
