Here at Project Y Games we’re not only interested in delivering digital interactive experiences, but tactile ones as well!
As a result we’ve cooked up three remixes of classic board games, with simple one page rule sets, for you and your friends to kill time on long drives or exhausting nights! The bundle includes:
Tic-Tac-Tau Arena: A fast-paced game of combat and strategy. In Tic-Tac-Tau Arena you’ll take the role of 4 ancient Roman Senators. You’ll send gladiators into merciless combat to fly your banner higher than the rest! For pride and glory!
Go-Fish Historia: A game of intrigue, deceit and patience. In Go-Fish Historia you take the role of an Aristocratic Family trying to gain favor with the many warring Houses of a medieval land wracked with turmoil!
Uno: The Last Elementalist: An imaginative, abstract Element Shaping RPG. In Uno: The Last Elementalist players will take the role of Element Shapers in an ancient land, and work together to overcome obstacles and tell the story of their adventurers!
Hope you all enjoy this little pack and stay tuned for more news and games in the future!

We just got back from the Boston Festival of Indipendent Games and had a great time demoing QuestQuest there! (And thanks to everyone who dropped by to play!) If you missed your chance to play (or want to play more) feel free to go and grab the demo on GameJolt!

It’s been a long time since our last update, but we’re proud to announce that QuestQuest finally has a live demo and is in a very playable form showing off the polished combat system, fancy new Gadgets and even more!
Check it out on the PHP Gamejolt Page!
Dubbed Episode Regal, this brief demo will give you a taste of what QuestQuest has to offer in the future as we move on to remaking VR Missions. In this demo you’ll be facing against ruthless bandits, mighty Trogres and even a hidden Drakon boss, as you train to join the Imperial ranks! While the story is standalone and isolated, this will eventually serve as the optional tutorial for QuestQuest proper!
(We recommend the downloadable version as the browser based version has some loading issues among a few other bugs- Also the accidental timing of this release is by no means lost on us...)

From  quiet mountains, to barren plains, from the deepest dungeons to expansive cities, QuestQuest will take players to a variety of lively locations. Here’s a concept for the battle screen on the Imperial Road.

Messing around with different looks for abilities. What do you guys think? Does it work better the way it used to be with no lines or background? Or is there one here that looks especially awesome and over the top?

And lastly, but certainly not least, here’s Ripley, Captain of the Fire Bugs (Who is a re-imagining of Ridley from the Metroid series). I didn’t want to make him an actual dragon, bu I wanted to keep the dragon motif and his sinister smile. As you can tell his fully armored form bears much more resemblance to his original inspiration.

The third faction from the now abandoned PHI was to be the Infestation (taking heavy influence from the Flood from Halo and the Necromorphs from Dead Space). Here’s some of their grotesque forms that they take and the miniature infectors who spread the disease.

More lost content! This time ancient Prozo spirits called the Atma! (Based off StarCraft’s Archons). Discovering their ancient ruins would come at great reward and great cost, and a lot of the concepts for how their optional dungeons were going to work and their general future-ghost aesthetic is something I’d greatly like to revisit, possibly in QuestQuest.

These were going to be the Fire Bugs for Pixel Hero: Isolation (They’re essentially a re-imagining of the Space Pirates from Metroid). As we continue to work on the demo for QuestQuest it’s nice to share some of this lost content with all of you and who knows, some of this might get recycled into something one day.

Here’s a throw back to a sprite sheet for Sarah I threw together back when we were making Isolation. In retrospect, it’s good we decided to go with a more original IP, but she was still a blast to animate and (hopefully) we may even see these sprites get used in some bonus content, who knows?

Working on some sprites for QuestQuest, this one is of the Player character in the short tutorial which is separate from the game and completely optional. More to come of this character and their companions as we start getting the Engine up and running. Most animations will probably only be about 3 frames (running at a whopping 2 frames per second!) as it cuts down on animation time, and given the characters’ already limited mobility they can still express a lot of what needs to get across.

More UI stuff for QuestQuest, as you can tell this looks a lot different from VR Missions. Tried to go for a less cluttered design that was (Dare I say) pleasant to look at. I might move the Talent boxes a bit more but I like the look generally speaking. What do you guys think?

Here’s some early looks at the UI concepting for combat in QuestQuest, also you can tell it takes a lot of cues from what we did with VR Missions, only now that we’re trying to work in a 16:9 ratio we’ve had to mix things up a bit. We may end up going back to 4:3 though, what do you guys think?
