When the anti "LGBT propaganda" law passed in Russia, all of you were going insane and cared. Give Georgia the same energy. If you can have sympathy for our oppressors on the basis of them being queer, you should keep the same energy for us, if not more.

A bad time.

I just need to vent without my friends and/or family knowing just yet.

Next year is my last year of high school and like many schools in my country, year 13 means leadership positions such as academic captain and head girl. I really want to be the latter.

Expect Im not going to be Head Girl. Its been almost a month since I, along with the rest of the candidates for head boy and girl positions, did my speech in front of my entire year girl and some teachers. The following week my year voted. I could have voted for myself but instead I voted for people I would want to work with. Maybe I should have voted for myself. Teachers then get a say and from there people get shortlisted.

Ive been waiting for almost a month to find out if I got short listed or not. We went on exam study leave at the beginning of this month.

I found out Saturday night at the start of youth group from another candidate if she had heard anything. She had. She found out from a mutual friend who found out from one of the girls who got shortlisted because they had an exam together. The shortlisted candidate has known since at least Wednesday. The person I found this out had gotten a letter from our school that morning.

I didnt recieve anything.

This is probably because I live out in the ciuntry side and while we get the newspaper everyday, we dont get mail everyday. I wouldnt be surprised if I didnt get anything until Wednesday this week.

But either way I was devestated. Ive been planning on being head girl for a year and a half. I didnt get a chance to cry about it until I got home that night.

I havent told anyone that I know who got shortlisted. Maybe its because Im holding onto a fantasy that the candidate didnt tell me I got shortlisted because she wanted it to be a surprise. And that made today rather hard. My parents were talking to people at church this morning, especially since I was wearing my school uniform with the school blazer. (I was representing my school by doing an address at my town's armistice service). It hard to hear my mum say so confidently that I had gone for head girl and was still waiting.

Speaking of the Armistice service. I ran into my teachers from year 2. They are married and worked together to teach my class. (That was no surprise really since their son is the mp for our area and he was also giving an address). They caught up with parents and me. The wife told me that I would make a great head girl when I said I had gone for it. I lied through my teeth when I said I hadnt heard anything.

Having a teacher, whom I enjoyed having, tell me I would make a great head girl after I found out that I hadnt made the short list really hurts.

And its not like I dont think the short listed candidates wont be good, I really do think think that I would be better. One went for the BoT student representive earlier this year but didnt get it and also is part of our local youth council. One coaches junior boys volleyball. And the other... i dont really know much other than shes a really good volleyball player who has represented our country overseas. I am part of the youth council. I am a student librarian and orgainised this year's roster. I am the captain of my sport, albiet there are only five of us all together and Im the oldest and have been playing the youngest. Ive been selected the past two years for national development squads. I am asked to do things by teachers like speaking at a public Armistice service and helping the year 10 business night. I volunteered to hand out awards to the year 13s and close the night at the media students showcase night and ended up being asked to open it up as well since no one else wanted to do it. And thats just the stuff I do school wise. Im very involved in my church - hell I planned an entire cludeo night for our intermediate youth group that I knew I was going to be away for and everyone absolutely loved it.

But maybe im over thinking everything. Maybe I dont deserve the position at all. I was planning on running for academic captain if I didnt get a head student position but now Im thinking I wont and just stick to head librarian (which I can say for certian that I would get) even though it literally means nothing. All you get is a badge that says head i front of librarian.

Maybe its stupid to hold onto to the stupid hope I have of getting a letter tomorrow saying I got shortlisted.

But either way, if i get a letter tomorrow Im not opening it until I get back from my exam in the afternoon.

Hi. I’m the moderator of this blog. For the characters in Miller’s Brook, this blog is a safe space for their fictional feelings. This post, however, is not from Amara, Bailey, Eve, Dayton, Eric and Fletcher but rather myself. I hope that this blog can also be a safe space for my own emotions and feelings.

I have this friend that I feel that I have gotten to know them pretty well over the 2 years we’ve been friends. This isn’t said lightly. My friend didn’t have the best childhood and I don’t blame them for the problems it caused them to have. Lately, they have been in a depression slump and it’s very obvious in the group chat. This particular time of year is pretty stressful as we all have exams to do - baring my two youngest friends who don’t have to deal with it just yet. And its been very hard on my friend. They often try to isolate themselves when things get tough and I think I’ve made it worse.

This morning was our English exam. Basically everyone in our year took it. Some did it digitally, some did it on paper. Either way, my friends and I got split up. We made no arrangements to meet up after the exam as it was 3 hours long and people can leave after the first 45 minutes but before the last 15. No one can be certain when they’re gonna finish.

The only plans I had made for after my exam were to hand in my sign out sheet, call my dad so he could pick me up and to give a different friend her chocolate that she’d given me for safekeeping. Got all of that done with only one slight hitch - Dad was gonna be a while at the sale. So to kill time chocolate friend and I decide to go up town.

Flash forward to later. Friend number 1 asks what people did after the exam seeing as basically everyone disappeared. Chocolate friend is honest. And it sets friend number 1. ‘Why didn’t anyone come by the library?’ 'I’m worthless’ and chocolate friend and home school friend try to console her and it ends with her leaving group chat a few times to attempt isolating herself while chocolate and home school friends bring her back.

This has happened before and had a big part in my emotional overload a few months ago. I’m worried about friend number 1 and I am feeling guilty about stuff I have no control over and for not including them today. I don’t know what to do. I have tried the usual things I do when they get like this. I have been told that I should do what I can to help but to also to protect my heart which is good advice when you don’t know how to deal with your emotions very well.

So I come to this blog to ask for your advice and help. I don’t know what I should do and what I need to do. I would greatly appreciate the advice you have.

Happy Valentines Day

Hello Lovelys! I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones whether they be a romantic friend or a platonic friend. My bf (Eric) has promised me something special today. And No, it's not a ring - we're too young for that. Not only that! It's my birthday as well! This makes my day extra special. But to make Valentines Day an extra special one for that special someone or platonic love I've come up with a few ideas for what you can do. 1) Do a secret Santa but with roses or balloons. If your school does anything cool for Valentines day like give flowers or balloons to people from people who have paid for this, get involved. Draw a name out of a hat and send something to that person. Dayton did that last year with her friends. She said that all the money spent buying a Valentine for someone went to the Heart Foundation. That's super awesome so get behind things like that but you don't have too. 2) Have a cheesy/meme-y Valentine Card off. Everyone brings their own selection of cards and see who has the most cheesiest or meme-ist cards around. This a lot of fun. 3) Do something together. Because VD is a big holiday, try do something for free. Like a walk in the park or spending the day at the beach for those in the Southern Hemisphere. For those still recovering from the snowy cold weather - have a movie marathon. Either binge movies and TV shows on netflix or get your friends together and get them to bring their favourite movies/tv shows. Not only is it a great way of sharing, it gives you the opportunity to try something new. Those are just somethings you can do.
