This is the next series I had been working on: coasters with Matroyshka doll designs. The latter was copied from a set of pretty greeting cards I picked up in a bookstore in HK many years ago. Luckily, the cards are still in good condition and didn’t need unwanted specks to be removed. It took me longer to make this set because I was experimenting with coat base and sealers. How much is enough? Depending on how these will be used, I discovered 2 coats of everything (acrylic for base, acrylic color of your choice, sealer) are not enough. One of the items I’ve been making and selling for some time now is the beaded Via Crucis. One of the benefits of repeatedly creating this religious item is that I finally know what each station stands for. Making these is tough on the hands, but absolutely nothing comes close to the tough journey Jesus had to go through. Compared with traditional renderings, I deliberately choose beads with bright colors.
