A blog mainly dedicated to the little morgan horse I rescued from going to slaughter. Who I have now owned for 7 years. I'm a 24 year old female. I have three horses including Dante, Mr. Magoo, and Sadie.Sadie is the newest member and was meant to take over as a jumping horse for Magoo, but the old boy isn't quite ready to retire yet. I also have two cats and a dog.

Passionforfashion, the filly who turned heads in SoCal last year but never made it to the races, has a brand new colt by the late Lucky Pulpit.
He’s so teeny and flashy and adorable.

Please ask me the importance of wearing a helmet while you ride.
On Thursday May 4 my life changed in a matter of minutes. At the race track it is protocol to wear a safety vest and proper helmet. I went out on my fourth horse a normally quiet but sometimes spunky filly that just had 4 days off. Just past the winners circle she planted her feet and lowered her head in an attempt to buck me off. She failed, just barely, however I somehow pushed the bridle off her head. I was so proud of myself that I stuck her but then I became so confused when everyone yelled bail. Mostly because it took me a few moments to comprehend what happened and a little longer to even get the courage up; we had started to move along at a good pace at this point. So when I bailed (I was told it was very ungraceful) I hit the ground hard and on my head. I was instantly knocked out for three minutes. I was taken to the hospital with a severe concussion but otherwise unharmed.
Do you have any idea how much that helmet saved my life? Or how worse that could’ve been if I wasn’t wearing one?
I was so very lucky that day and although I’m not allowed to work for a while at least I can still walk and talk and am very much alive.
Please wear a helmet, it could save your life. Yes I know this gets annoying to hear but until you are in the position I was (although I hope you never are) you won’t understand how important that piece of equipment is until it’s either too late or it saves your life.
