They're cute right now. Next year I'll be chasing them off with a broom.

Taken yesterday, a few hours post op. Feeling pretty great, actually, mostly just uncomfortable but very little actual pain.

Just had top surgery. You might say it's a huge weight off my chest.

Top surgery means four months of sobriety. I ended my boozy streak with Ron Swanson’s drink of choice.
I keep reminding myself this will be worth it. Usually while staring very angrily at something I can’t have. Thank god we don’t have any gin in the house.

I finally got my violets picked, and dumped them into some vodka. I’ll add faux sugar once I strain them in a month or two, or when they really pick up the right scent.
Real sugar is absolutely an option, I’m just low carb to manage neurological issues and have had to make my own line of sugar free liqueurs to keep drinking with my usual pranciness.
Vodka + Flavoring + Sweetener + Time = Happiness in the form of your own home made booze! There’s not much of a real recipe, just tweak, play, experiment, and drink because you earned it you crafty person you!

This idea, we are stealing it.
Assam layered with fresh rose petals and buds for next year’s rose tea. I picked these early this morning while out with my dog while my wife was sleeping.

Planted!
The window boxes are up around the back porch and one to each side up front. The front of the house is starting mint and lavender, two “must haves” for my partner. I predict the mint will be attempting to overtake its box and conquer the lavender and the front porch in no time. I popped it in the semi-shade to at least slow its progress and give the lavender a fighting chance. The back porch is lined in herbs, with a cherry tomato and a habanero pepper on the corners.
This should all hopefully keep me busy, productive, and out of everyone’s hair as I recover from surgery. A bloke needs a hobby.
Or when you’re stuck without booze, sex, and going to the gym, I’d better make that six hobbies. This is going to be a long four months.
