I’m needy and I require attention. 

Sometimes I want you to think about me and ask me if I’m ok or if I need help.  I require a little work but, if you care enough to invest yourself in me I can promise a full return on your investment.... with interest.  

My love is full, when I feel safe enough to give it freely.  My love is intentional. It listens. It pays attention. 

It wants to feel worthy and necessary... irreplaceable... special. 

My love wants to trust you and lean on you and feed you and be there for you and take care of you. My love wants you to win. My love is valuable. My love is scared of being hurt and left alone. It longs to be reflected, reciprocated, reproduced.  My love is delicate, it’s fragile. Cherish it. Adore it. Please. 

My love is learning. It’s growing. Brimming. Brilliant. My love is heavy. It’s warm and welcoming. It’s thick. Rich. It can be a little clumsy. It’s often confused and it may not always know what to do or how to do it. It’s inexperienced but willing to learn. It’s apprehensive but willing to try.

My love is being readied. Prepared for its counterpart, its other half. My love is being refined for you. For us.  It’s anxious and sometimes a bit zealous but my love is patient. Patient because process is requisite to greatness. These things take time. My love will fight. It is fearless and faithful. It is hopeful and expectant. It is waiting... to love you.

 So I have this prayer and affirmation journal and sometimes I just free write.  

"Help me to focus on what I have to do. Help me to do my work and work on my relationship with you. Help me to grow as a person and help me to be present in the process to the plans that you have for me.  This is a lesson. You’re clearly preparing me to deal with naysayers, haters and the like.   Help me to be proud of the me that I am; the me that I’m becoming. She’s not perfect but she is in process. She is a jack-of-all-trades. She can thrive in all environments. She is who she is and she likes what she likes.  Her personality and her professionalism are not mutually exclusive; they can and will coexist. She is comfortable at the clubhouse and the church house, on the block and in the boardroom, she can dabble in hoodratia and tweet about foolishness and engage in substantive scholarly discourse in her 140 characters or less.  She has a contribution.  She has ideas. She is creative. She can rock long hair and short hair. She can be super thick or slim. She can do all of this because she is secure in herself.  She is God’s precious daughter and he cares for her and she knows that everything she needs is in him.  Her humility acknowledges the hand of God in her life and takes no credit for her journey.  Yet she also recognizes her unique giftings and the rights and privileges therein. Her shoulders are square. Her back is straight.   She is here to get there and although the road can be dark and uncertain and scary, she is on her way with big dreams and blessed assurance.  For he knows the way that she takes and when He has tried her, she shall come forth as pure gold. If you’re mad at that, for you she’s praying but at this point, in all sincerity, that’s none of her concern."
