working with little kids is so dangerous. you get one kid who has a unique way of speaking & then spend the rest of your life with an internal monologue like “me’s go bathroom?”

This wouldn't be as much of a problem if my toddler didn't insist on being outside as much as possible. So much sunscreen for us both, hats, water, bug spray, and I'm STILL chasing after her half blind bc my dang glasses gotta fog up. Fall you cannot come fast enough!
It's so humid and hot these days my glasses fog up completely the second I step outside and I'm so done with it!!!!!!!!

My own personal experience: people that you want to be around don't do that. Your religiosity and "level" (for lack of a better term) are about your relationship with Hashem, your personal life circumstances, and the community into which you are integrated. The rest is noise.
how would you deal with someone who competes with you over being religious/observant
People don’t do that, but in the strange case that they did I would simply ignore them. It’s not a real competition if only one party is competing.

Me seeing Andor spoilers coming out mere hours after the episodes are released: oh right that's what life was like without kids, you could actually watch three episodes of TV in a single night.

Work is crazy right now. We're always busy, but right now we have a couple positions that we're also hiring for, so I have to devote time to that as well. And I work for a big technology company so the job postings all start as internal, and then if we don't find a good fit we open to external. And apparently a lot of people are looking for positions right now because for one role I received one new resume every 10-15 minutes during work hours, no exaggerating. And then since these folks are internal, they are following it up with IM'ing, calling my work phone, etc. at all hours of the day. Literally had someone message me at 4pm on Friday saying they wanted to be interviewed that same day. Ummm how long have you been working for my friend??? Late Friday afternoon requests are not going to ingratiate you. This person didn't really even read the job postings anyway, our team requires people to be in our general geographic area, but this person was 1 time zone away. -_- c'mon
Anyway the only coping mechanism I've found is to ignore all the resumes during work hours and put in a few hours after I put baby to bed to review things, set up interviews, and the like. At least it's good motivation to find people for these positions so I can stop doing this.
Just. Very tired.

Well, the baby has definitely entered her toddler stage. All day she points at things and says "Want it!" If it's not dangerous for her, I generally give it to her and let her explore, but half the time when I try to hand it to her she says "No!" and pushes it away. If it's not something I can give her, she will have a mini meltdown until she spots something else she wants.
Oh my sweet child. This is just the beginning!

My current boss is one of the most frustrating micro managers I've ever encountered. He only started being this way after some work drama went down (that I was not personally involved in and did not involve my work streams) and it has just... Made my life so so difficult.
Best I can tell, Boss spends his day listening in on people's meetings and IM'ing them in the background WHILE THEY ARE PRESENTING about how they could have worded that better, or how they are being perceived poorly by our client (he thinks), or how we need to make sure XYZ follow up is at the top of our list. Like, yikes man, you haven't even given me a chance to write or send out notes. Calm down. Let me do my job before you assume I'm going to be terrible at it. And stop distracting us while we're presenting.
I've had talks with him about this before and he says he understands and appreciates the feedback and just wants us to be our best. But it seems like he literally just cannot stop himself. It's gotten to the point where I kinda just... Ignore his messages for an hour or two before I review them.
He is also moving on from his current role in a month or two. So I'm not gonna have to live with this indefinitely. Just. Wow dude. There have got to be better uses of everyone's time.

It's not over. I can't, guys. I just can't.
If anyone needed proof that health insurance in the US is overly complicated (hahahaha), I just needed to spend several hours on the phone with the insurance company sorting out the billing for giving birth because we changed health plans (remaining with the same company, just a different plan) and I gave birth during the short time of overlap of coverage. Got transferred 4 times and had to call back the next day because the office that could help me was only open until noon (????). All because two different health plans AT THE SAME COMPANY couldn't talk to each other properly.
I'm no medical expert and no accountant, but there has just GOT to be a better way to do this.

Life lessons from the very hungry caterpillar, which my daughter wanted me to read approx 47,952 times this shabbat:
It's okay to keep eating if you're hungry, but maybe wait a little to see if you really are
Too much junk food will make you sick
Fruits and veggies are the best to gorge yourself on
Sometimes you just gotta lock yourself away from the world for 2 weeks, that's all part of the process
Self transformation is totally possible
Bugs can be cute!
