Am I too big to find love...?

Too many times I have heard over the last year that men simply do not date women who are overweight. I think that is a load of rubbish.

I have heard comments such as, “successful/fit men only date successful/fit women.” and “overweight successful men date overweight successful women.” Really...? Are we really buying into that your quality of a partner depends on the size of your waistline? Where do you live, i’d like to know? I think it all sums up to where you live and your experiences dating while being what society says is overweight or fat.

Everyone has preferences, some outweigh more than the others. Not everyone will be attracted to me and I for damn sure am not attracted to every man that crosses my path. 

In the U.S. the beauty/body standard is weighed more heavily than any other parts of the world. With that being said, online dating does not make it easier being a Big Gal either (mainly in the U.S., haven’t had that issue with men from  the UK, EU, Scandinavia, Central/South America etc.). Men usually judge a book by its cover in online dating (I am sure women do too) and I have gotten responses such as, “you’re a beautiful woman, but if you lose the weight, we can work something out,” or “I like what you’re working with, but let me fix this problem.” Wait...what? I just laugh at responses like these because some of these men think their shit doesn’t stink. Thank God I am not insecure to buy into the bull.

Now, the question is, “Do men, whether fit or not, date bigger women (genuinely)? Yes they do! I have had conversations with men who are fit, who themselves battled with the bulge, but are attracted to bigger women. I am not talking about fetish men (Fat Admirers, Chubby Chasers, Feeder/Feedee). There are all types of men, all shapes, sizes, looks, etc who go for women of all sizes or mainly bigger women. 

Ladies if you’re overweight, please, please, please, do not believe that a man won’t ever be attracted to you. Do not listen to people telling you that you should lose weight to improve your dating choices. If you aren’t happy with yourself now, then how can you expect to be 50+lbs less? Find your happiness and love for yourself where you’re currently at in your life; not to gain someone else’s approval over yourself.
