Title: Anniversaries are meant to be forgotten
word count: 1,521
Fandom: Gintama
Pairing: Gintsu
Summary: Gintoki and Tsukuyo celebrate their first anniversary as a married couple.
For @ykchahine: HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!! I was gonna post this earlier but stuff happened and now I’m late but I hope you’ll like this!! Have a great year ahead! ( Bonus points if you notice what I tried to incorporate in this fic? HINT: HCs )
Tsukuyo rushed forward with a set of kunai in her hands, piercing gaze set on her opponent A.k.a the Shiroyasha. With swift movements she launched herself into the air and threw the blades with precision at him but Gintoki was tad bit faster and shot them down with one swing of his bokuto.
Tsukuyo landed on her feet and squared up for hand-to-hand combat.
“Oi, Oi you still wanna continue? Are you that hell-bent on killing me? I’m your husband you know, have some mercy.” Gintoki sighed and placed his bokuto back inside his belt.
“Who said I was trying to kill you? You moron! You’re the one who suggested that we should train together.” The ninja replied a little flustered.
She went to pick up the kunai that had fallen to the ground, “Let’s stop now then.” She paused for awhile before looking at the clock, “I have some stuff to do…”

So, GinTsuku.
Straight to the point, ‘cause I hate writing essays that tend to overanalyze and make stuff cheesy.

BTW I still can’t get over the fact that Sorachi-sensei gave us the Love Potion arc, because it’s one of the best written comedy arcs of the whole series: I love how you can either take it at face value and say it doesn’t mean anything, or you can try to see a little beneath the surface and acknowledge how meaningful it is on some aspects, just like all the other comedy arcs.
Knowing how popular and famous Gintama is, it’s logical that Sorachi-sensei will never voice a clear position about which ships he probably has a soft spot for, but it’s not like he gave an arc or several to all the possible ships of Gintama. And I’m not talking just about GinTsu.
For example, is it really a coincidence that the other ship getting a lil’ focus in this arc is the love triangle Kondo/Otae/Kyuubei? Is it? Considering the Dekobokko arc or even, later, Kyuubei’s own resolution along with Tsukuyo’s about being a woman and being in love, during half of ch620? Or even just Kondo’s failed gorilla marriage in the last arc?
I don’t think so. :)

The names of Gintoki and Tsukuyo’s children
Art by 温度計
I’ve been thinking about the names of Gintoki and Tsukuyo’s children and I know it’s the typical shippy stuff and I should be doing something productive BUT ANYWAY please listen:
It’s fanon that they’ve twins since Red Spider arc. Preferably a boy and a girl.
Tsukuyo and Gintoki’s names are based on myths/legends (Tsukuyomi and Sakata no Kintoki respectively).
Therefore, their children’s names should be based on myths/legends that are siblings.
After some research I came to the conclusion that the two gods of Japanese mythology that fit the best are Haniyasu-hiko and Haniyasu-hime for the following reasons:
They’re the children of Izanagi and Izanami, one of the most prominent gods, creator deities of life and death, paralleling Gintoki and Tsukuyo’s ties to those elements as hardened warriors and protectors.
Haniyasu-hiko and Haniyasu-hime are siblings. One is known as the God of courage and strength while the other is the Goddess of love, devotion, and spirit, embodying both Gintoki and Tsukuyo in their desire to protect the people they care about.
They were born from Izanami’s feces, so apart from having a deep meaning it’s also a poop joke lmao
Since all names have little variations in Gintama, I would change the previously established names to (sorry if I mess up the kanji) Haruhiko (春彦) and Hanahime (花姫).
