The Sims 4: The Crystal Challenge [WIP]

Welcome to the Crystal Challenge. I created this challenge when I was going to start the “Not So Berry Legacy Challenge” by lilsimsie but I wanted to incorporate the crystal collectibles that the Sims 4 has because they are colorful and mainly I love crystals and Steven Universe (this fact will be optional in the first generation). I, in no way, know how to create a legacy so I did reference some of the NSB legacy challenges but I will try my hardest to be original but I wanted to give credit. This challenge rules are incomplete and I hope to finish soon.

There are 22 generations each with a different background, personality, career, and aspirations.

Notes: All packs (except Star Wars) are used  throughout this challenge, you can modify the challenges to fit the packs you do have. (Optional) Start the game as an alien wanting to start a fresh new life on earth.

Each generation will need to represent the color of crystal per their generation.

Each generation will need to find the crystal their generation is associated with and keep it in their inventory or in their bedroom. Any gems found that are not part of the generation should be sold

All crystals must be passed down (gifted) to the next generation.

If you have multiple children the first born baby will continue the generation

Money cheats cannot be used and career cheats cannot be used. (First generation can have 50,000 and be at level 7 in the doctor career)

Lifespan set to normal. It is optional to attend university but is not necessary, unless stated to do so.

Sometimes I feel myself getting stuck in a CAS rut and a lot of my sims end up looking very similar. I’ve seen these types of click and drag generators often as writing resources, or as silly games to predict the “future” and thought it might be interesting to tailor it and incorporate it directly into the sims so I’ve thrown a quick one together. Everything is still quite open-ended so it’s all up for personal interpretation, it’s just a push to get you started. 

*Note: I included alien and vampire under gender. If you get one of these options, feel free to drag again until you get male/female to determine the gender, or choose it yourself. Like I said this isn’t set in stone and is more for inspiration than hardcore rules. If you don’t have the vampire pack, just pull a different result. No biggie.

By no means do I take any form of credit for this idea, I’m sure it’s probably even been done on simblr in the past, I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring and thought I’d share it with all you lovelies as well. x

Better quad meshes from Marvelous Designer using Instant Meshes

I wasn’t really a big fan of Marvelous Designer because of its unmanageable, crazily high-poly, tri-mesh exports. However, I recently discovered this autoretopology tool called Instant Meshes which beautifully generates amazing quad meshes from your tri-mesh exports with just a few clicks. I strongly recommend creators who use Marvelous Designer to try it. 

Here’s a tutorial on marvelous designer forum, and here’s the project page. It took me a while to find the download links. I guess ppl on GitHub don’t usually put out obvious download links like we do here. XD

Mini tutorial: Use subdivision surface modifier to smooth baking results

I’d like to share this trick I recently discovered. Please read my other tutorial on baking shadow for clothes if you don’t know what baking is.

Here’s a baking result. You can see the shade is a bit rough with harsh edges. Normally I’ll do a surface smooth filter in Photoshop. This tutorial will show you how to smoothen the result before going into Photoshop.

Triumph Bodysuits

Triumph’s Bodysuits (Amourette 300 and Amourette Spotlight) were just too amazing not to turn them into sims bodies - as you may know, I’m a big fan of black lace bodysuits.
