Harry: Wow, that's nice to hear
Draco: I'm never going to give it to you, but I owe you one

Harry and Draco just having the most awkward first date in the history of awkward first dates and they’re just strolling along together and Harry awkwardly hands Draco a chocolate frog and Draco awkwardly accepts it and opens it to find a Harry Potter card and both of them blink at it in silence for two seconds before Draco grins his most wicked grin and Harry’s face now resembles a beetroot and Draco cannot stop laughing after that and so Harry finally grabs him in a kiss to shut him up and that’s how their awkward first date ends in the very best first kiss in the history of first kisses.
And ten years later they’re married and Draco still carries that card in his wallet.

man as far as franchises go, Harry Potter is pretty lucky to have snagged eight overall inoffensive, faithful and interesting adaptations. you can moan and whine all you want about “calmly” or Harry’s eye colour or that the Patel twins shouldn’t be in the same house, but take a comparison to Percy Jackson, or A Series or Unfortunate Events, or ATLA, or even some of the adaptations that are considered a bit better like Hunger Games or Twilight, and Harry Potter takes the cake every time. the later movies aren’t really all that brilliant (compared to the first couple are spectacular and beautiful) but damn if they aren’t 1. faithful as far as we can ask, 2. transformative where they need to be (read: Luna yelling at Harry in DHp2, my favourite scene of the film and a welcome addition) and 3. really well cast and acted for the most part AND 4. really really fancentric in that they are specifically so true to the books because everybody knew how important that was to the fandom.
anyways that’s why it bugs me when people hyperfocus minor details that are incorrect

I have a new idea. Luna Lovegood got a buzzcut after the war was over. She did it because her hair had knots all over it from the time she was imprisoned at the manor. There were parts of it where it was shorter because it had been either burnt off or cut by a curse. Sure, she could have fixed it with magic but she just wanted to start all over and no amount of magic would have given the relief that a clean slate did so she just shaved it off using Harry’s Muggle inventions, with his help of course.

I’m not sure what’s funnier. The fact that in HBP Harry’s thought process goes “Hmm. Draco’s ignoring me. He must be a Death Eater now. Nothing less than a secret deadly mission from Voldemort himself could be more important than our rivalry.”
Or the fact that he’s completely right.

Desolate, Sirius stared out the window into an early December storm; he heaved a great sigh and pressed a warm hand to the cold glass. “When will my Remus return from war?” Sirius pondered aloud.
James scoffed. Without looking up from his hand of cards— they were playing Muggle poker, Five Card Stud, and Peter was winning for some unfathomable reason— James grabbed one of the pillows propped up against his headboard and chucked it at Sirius’ head. “He’s on prefect rounds, you overdramatic git.”

I’ll cast some spells with the flick of my wand. Defeat the Dark Arts, yeah, bring it on and do it all with my best friend, Ron. ‘Cause together we’re totally awesome. Yeah, ‘cause together we’re totally awesome!
