How can a song be depressing and uplifting at the same time?

Here is how it goes: So the song is about having a lonely day, and not just any lonely day but the ‘loneliest day of my life’. The song directly touches cord with anyone who lives alone, anyone who has broken up, anyone who lacks friends in their life. It goes on to describe that ‘this day shouldn’t exist’ and ‘it will never be missed’. But what if each day is the most loneliest day of your life. 

I was working in a 9 to 5 job, which would stretch upto 7 -8 sometimes but still going back to empty house was the most difficult part. And there are millions like me, everyone who seem to be waging a lone battle against life itself, sorry for own existence! I listened to this song, felt sad and then felt uplifted by just 2 words.

The lyrics proclaim that, maybe this is the loneliest day of my life but, ‘its mine’. Its something that no one can take away from me. I may not be having a great time but that time still belongs to me. There’s something about having something belonging to you that really feels good. Maybe its not that bad. Maybe I deserve this loneliness, not as curse but as blessing. It gave me time to manage my thoughts, to pick myself up and start working towards getting the life straight. ‘It’s a day I am glad that I survived’. Having survived those days may not have made me a better person but a better fighter maybe. 

Maybe, it was those lonely days which helped me get my life sorted. Maybe, it was not that bad. Maybe, those lonely days were required in the life to give perspective. In the end, it all turns out fine and those lonely days play a part too.
