Weaning off Sugar

I have already weaned off sugar in my tea since long and my wife is trying to do the same now.

When I make tea for the two of us, I add just a pinch of sugar in her tea. Idea is that a pinch of sugar would give her some solace! Now, she has to taste my sugarless tea in order to really appreciate whatever sweetness she gets from that little pinch of sugar in her cup. I find this inclination insightful.

In order to appreciate what we already have, we sometimes need to experience what it is like when we don't have it. In order to appreciate the food we eat, it is probably good if we can experience hunger.

Popular belief is time is more important than money and time is the only resource we have. I say 'attention and energy’ is the only resource I have.

What meaning do you get?

This is a drawing a 3 year old kid gave to his preschool teacher.

On the face of it, there is nothing exciting here, but if you look from the eyes of the kid and the preschool teacher, there is love, expression, playfulness, creativity and a whole lot of other things in this drawing!

The meaning we draw from something is far more important than what meets the eye.

Same is true for a poetry you write, as a matter of fact anything you create. You might think it is just average, but someone might extract deep meaning from it based on their past experiences.

How do you feel about it?

I am getting to realize that, if you need to build a habit (a good one.. hopefully), then “how to you feel about it“ is the most important indicator if you will stick to the habit or not. If you feel good, you will stick find time to do it again and again and the habit will stick.

But many a time we get mixed feeling doing something new.. so good feeling, some bad feeling. I guess if we are able to notice the good feeling and amplify it, it, that could be a pivot for developing the new habit. That is where mindfulness comes handy.

All change is not good

My Dear Blog,

It is said that an Artist is one who causes a change in the society via his Art. I argue that not all that is changed by an Artist is good.

Consider an advertiser who lures people to buy new style of shoes. The change he is makes leads to people buying 25 different pair of shoes, and that causes consumerism. I doubt that is good. Numerous other examples like this.

So, not all change is good and then not all artists are doing pious work.
