pandora made coraline-style dolls for each of her friends one christmas. when school was in session, the dolls were kept together on display in the dorm room.

when summer came, they felt bad separating them so they found a small cave by the great lake and left them there together.

they did the same thing at graduation, even though dorcas was no longer talking to them and pandora was going into hiding, they called a truce for once and set them down.

years later, barty secretly leads luna to the cave so she can have them. luna does not take them, she cleans the cave up and reorganizes the dolls, adding little name plates so if anyone else finds them- they’ll be remembered.

I always see this dynamic in which Barty is just insane and dragging everyone alongside him, especially Evan, but picture this:

First year Bartemius, Ravenclaw, shy because of his father's education, afraid to talk to anyone because what if he messes up and isn't perfect anymore and his dad hates him?

Then Pandora Rosier shows up, and they become friends. One random day, Pandora introduces Bartemius to her brother, and boy is he unhinged. He speaks too loud, he acts too proud, he curses too much. He likes to perform forbidden spells, and tortures insects just for fun.

At first, Bartemius is shy, because his father would be shitty to him for decades if he knew he was hanging out with Slytherins, especially with these troublemakers! So he stays more with Regulus and Pandora, reading and studying, than with Evan and Dorcas that spend their time getting in trouble (sometimes helped by Pandora experimenting).

But slowly, Regulus going out of his shell to participate in his friend's mischiefs gives Bartemius the courage to be himself, and he's not Bartemius anymore, he's Barty, and he wears all green to piss off his dad and he even starts wearing the Slytherin uniform and spends his nights in his friends dorm and he makes out with the unhinged guy, and slowly falls in love and-
