I looooove all the cool creature designs that G4 introduced. I’m not as familiar with older gens, I know they had dragons and seaponies and breezies (called something else I think) but like??? G4’s griffons, bat ponies, more dragons, more monsters, kirins, hippogriffs, changelings, yaks, etc?? Diversity win, and I especially love when oc creators utilize these designs and even mix them (hybrids) !!!

I saw someone say "literally name anything about G2" and okay here I go.

it's like G3 with yassification. Everything is magic- the beds fly, their gardens have multiple stories even though it's outdoors, everypony is a princess. They have crystals in their eyes, they swap tails- when you make them kiss each other, they whisper "I love you". Gay as hell (<-positive)

There was like one maybe two Unicorns (major L), and no Pegasus- because some ponies came with fucking fairy butterfly wings. And you could just put those bitches on anything. Any pony could have wings as long as you had the accessory.

The art direction is so specifically 90s in my head, it took the liminality and drama from G1 and began to glamorize the ponies even more (sculpts, crystal eyes, a lot ponies have outfits). The sculpting design and direction for the playsets and accessories looks otherworldly despite being so very recognizable to me- they're inherently uncanny, but tinker with hyper feminization. It's all slightly off, but that's what draws me in (someone who didn't grow up with MLP toys, but found an interest later on)

It's a shame there was practically nothing media wise because this was so iconic. Their biggest flops are the lack of interesting molds and the weird romantic couple packs. I don't think G2 is perfect, there's some major Ls in there.

the reason I don't enjoy G2 as much is because of a lack of content, and accessibility. I still love G1 and G3 quite a bit more right now because, I have more interest in collecting them (but that could change)

Discord was never that funny to me. Every time he came back I just groaned. I know he’s a fan favorite but he just gets on my nerves

I wish the Young Six got dolls/figures made of them. They’d probably be pretty expensive cause they all have different molds but I would totally buy them. Especially Yona and Gallus, they’re my favs.

Applejack being a cowgirl and Pinkie being a party pony are both really strange if you think about it. Pinkie kind of fills the role of the entertainer/musician and the cook, both being pretty common interests for little girls (since all of the mane six were meant to represent one). I don’t know if I’d consider farmwork a pastime for most little kids.

I think it would make more sense for Applejack to be the foodie, maybe having some sort of restaurant. Her thing is already food-related. Maybe her food could be Tex-Mex, that would be fun! (of course she can’t be barbecue cause ponies are vegetarian).

That way Pinkie could lean more into the entertainment theme. She’d still be Pinkie Pie the Party Planner, but it could lean more towards musical or maybe dance interests.

Idk, that’s how I’d personally restructure the series.

I’m SHOCKED they didn’t bring back Minty for G4 but ESPECIALLY G5. I know they were trying to stray away from the older generations but man. She’s SUCH an iconic character.

Sunshim is the best character in the franchise for me. Her struggle is believable and she totally redeems herself, and then she goes on to continuously be the most interesting of the Human Seven. And her design slaps. Best Pony/Human.

Gauntlet of fire was EASILY the best Spike episode. It blows all of the other ones completely out of the water, it’s not even CLOSE. Also Ember is at her BEST here. I think Ember was a bit of a missed opportunity, her {and also Smolder’s!} friendship with Spike could have helped Spike become a MUCH better character, and make it so he wasn’t so dependent on Twilight and Rarity — not that their friendship with him was bad, but maybe Spike focusing more on his dragon friends and Thorax could have made the Rarity thing less weird. Maybe he could even have some sort of romantic relationship with one of them? Not every character needs to have a romance but spike was REALLY running out of things to do at the end of the season and I could see any of those three relationships working as a romance. If the writers played their cards right, that is. I got so off track but you get what I mean..

I LOVE flash sentry. I know that’s not the most popular opinion but he is so charming. He’s okay in the first few movies, but I really started to like him in Legend of Everfree and his amazing music video. He’s just a really sweet guy and he did not deserve all the shit the fandom threw at him.

I like Timber Spruce from Everfree too. I don’t think he’s as likable as Flash but he’s also pretty nice, and him and SciTwi could be cute.

The only thing is that he’s a counselor and she’s a camper, but he could definitely be the same age as her considering his (presumably) older sister is the one actually running the place, and he’s just helping out.

Stranger than Fanfiction (season 6) is my favorite episode of the show. i just love Quibble Pants so much he’s so annoying. i love him. say what you will about patton oswalt and this being a really obvious role for him he did great and he did even better in season 9.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but someone has to say it. the aesthetic of g3 is far better and more cohesive than anything g4 did. that shit was all over the place.
