Why is there no mention of the 2011 Messiah movie? Admittedly I think it was a trial run to see if it could be adapted to live action well, but it isn't bad.
Hiya @certainbananacollectionblr! :D
Thanks for the Ask ♥
(Yes, like a zombie, this blog has risen from the dead, LOL!)
This is an interesting point because I, personally, am interested in the Messiah franchise as a whole, which includes its early adaptations like the 2011 Messiah movie.
However, even though The Messiah Project as a whole is a mixed media project, the different components of its mixed media in its initial stages was managed and produced by unrelated production teams. This is unlike, for example, “Ochanomizu Rock”, a mixed media project that started as a TV series and would go on to continue growing as a franchise in its manga adaptation, stage sequel, spin-off one-shots and spin-off novel, all of which were produced and managed by related production teams.
As a result of this, even though they are all inspired by the Messiah novel, which is the source material, the early manga adaptation and the 2011 live action movie are considered to be separate from the current mixed media Messiah project, which starts with the 2013 stage play “Dou no Shou” and has since gone on to have sequel stage plays, movies and even TV series.
Although, as I have mentioned earlier, I, personally, do like the early adaptations, and have included them in my own personal masterpost discussing how they fit into the franchise as a whole: HERE
And, I share your opinion that the 2011 movie isn’t bad? Actually, I really liked it. Pffft. I liked how it decided to focus, not on the dynamics between the members of the Messiah team, but instead, on the dynamics between Kaidou Eiri and Shimada Fumikazu, their “mission objective”. By telling the story from Fumikazu’s POV, we also got an interesting look at what the Messiah team (and the aftermath of a mission) might look like from an Outsider’s POV.

Hello! I was wondering if the subbing project of Eisei no shou was still a thing. No pressure or anything, really, I'm already very grateful for everything that has been done! I'm just curious :)
Ah, to be honest Anon, myself and the two other people I was working with kind of got busy with other things and I don’t know that we’ll probably get back to it. Sorry to have only depressing news but if anyone is ever interested in helping (translation-wise) I would love to work with them!

hi what is World Reforming??? was it a place or organization or an event? all i understand is that because of it Sakura was created but i was wondering if i'm missing something. thank u.
From what we’re given in the series it was an event/period of tenuous peace. After the last big war (what is implied to be basically WWIII) the major governments got together and agreed on the World Reforming which is essentially the post-war armistice. All major weapons of war were destroyed but that has since lead to building up of espionage activity.
The series doesn’t exactly lay out a timeline or anything, they just jump right into what the world is like after this great event but basically the World Reforming is the agreement that was made for peace, even though it is entirely on the surface. Or, at least, that’s my understanding. Anyone who has more to add is welcome to do so ^^

@ anon asking about synopsis: I'm tempted to do so. However, I am afraid of posting false info and misleading fans. If I have a free moment I might attempt to write plot summaries but it would be helpful if we had a team of dedicated fans and possibly native speakers who would be willing to check and re-check the summaries. Or everyone writes their interpretations (with valid references of course) and we pool them to create a plot summary together.
That’s not a bad idea. I know that my friend @funjoushi came and offered to do something for this last night so working together is definitely not a bad idea. If you know of any native speakers who are willing to help that would be wonderful, because I haven’t encountered any within the English speaking part of the fandom, and that would go a long way to clear up any confusion or uncertainties relating to plot.
Messiah is difficult for any one person to tackle on their own so a team effort would definitely be a good idea.

is it possible for you provide summaries of all the messiah plays and movies things? i know it's asking alot. i can follow most of the plot but i worry im missing important things. thank you.
Hi Anon!
I’m really sorry but I know that for at least myself that won’t be something I could promise to get to anytime soon. I can’t speak for all of the mods so if they might like to provide summaries they can. Alternatively, if anyone else in the fandom would be interested in assisting with this, I know we would really appreciate it here too!
Sorry that I can’t be of immediate assistance :( It is just kind of a lot for the moment but it might be something I try to tackle down the road if someone else doesn’t first.

The Messiah Project: Need MESSIAH? [updated 260614]
1. Sakura members will hold their silence in protection of the Church. 2. Sakura members who leave / graduate from the Church will have no contact with the Church. 3. Sakura members will not aid / rescue another Sakura member who has failed in their mission. 4. Sakura members will not become friends or lovers. However, there is one person who is an exception to rules 3 and 4, and that is: their Messiah.

Okay here, the compilation of links to important posts on Messiah. The links and posts came from my butai/stageplay/Messiah senpai, Lyn rz-jocelyn (eh? Lyn wa chii no Messiah? *kicked* XD).
Basically it is a butai/stageplay. Starred by 4 stageprinces *dead dolphin squee*: Matsuda Ryo, Ono Kento, Hamao Kyousuke, Ota Motohiro. They are trainees in a secret organization, Sakura. Set in Japan during world reformation, with ‘information’ as their main weapon. The highlight is however, the relationship between them - Messiah partnership! I’m bad at explaining sooo.. I’ll link you to appropriate posts to my precious friend/senpai because she did lotsa posts on Messiah! ^^
1) Messiah’s synopsis: HERE
2) Existing Messiah’s Works so far: HERE
3) If you need to watch the Stageplay:
1st: Messiah ~Dou no Shou~: HERE
2nd: Messiah ~Hakugin no Shou~: HERE *new*
4) If you need the interview after the watch: HERE
5) Track the tag on her blog: HERE
6) Messiah Character BG Series (may contain spoiler):
Kaidou Eiri (Matsuda Ryo): HERE
Mistsumi Haku (Ono Kento): HERE
Gojou Souma (Ota Motohiro): HERE
Shiba Shuusuke (Hamao Kyousuke): HERE
(spoiler is helpful in case if you cant catch what’s happening in the movie/stageplay because it is complicated - atleast it is for me XD)
There you go~ :p I hope that helps your curiousity! \(^_____^)/ J

Fic
Title: Connect the Dots
Rating: M
Characters/Pairings: Yuuri Kaito/Shirasaki Mamoru
Summary: The two of them, they know the value of a choice. The cost of opportunity, and opportunity lost. There are thousands of ways they could die, but an unfathomable number of ways they can live.
Yuuri and Mamoru working through the events following immediately after Hagane no Shou.
Note: Hagane Spoilers! and vague references to Shinku. Experimental fic exploring a transitioning relationship in response to emotional trauma.
Also, a huge thank you to @findarato-ingoldo and @shinjimes for letting me talk through this fic, and just being generally awesome!

meta/analysis on Mamiya
I wanted to write meta on Mamiya since September, but thoughts are hard sometimes to gather together. Shinku finally came out and I saw it, and I thought I might as well finish this half-formed thing that’s been sitting for so long, and hopefully it’s something thoughtful, as well as thought-provoking.
I’m not going to post it on tumblr simply because formatting is a pain on tumblr, and because my blog’s font is tiny/not good for reading tl;dr. So it can be found here, because I’ve always liked Dreamwidth (warnings/spoilers are in the post itself.)
Many thanks go to @shinjimes for editing, suggestions, additions, and encouragement (also for most of the screencaps because I suck at taking those). she’s my writing Messiah heh ♥. Also thanks to @celtic-knot95 and @masayume85 for letting me yell about Mamiya at them.
Translation credits go to @masayume85 and @enjye and @withchantomo for interviews/tweets/summaries, because Messiah would be a lot harder to understand without these awesome people.
