I made yet another baby jacket. I am Cursed with knowing people who have babies it seems. Anyway, this is for one of my mom's colleagues, hope she likes it.
This future baby is apparently a girl and considering the parents already have a son who has a name that I dislike with a strange intensity, I'm very curious about what kind of name they will choose...
#my knitting adventures#knitting#this took me a lot longer than it should have because it was really easy#but the summer has been hectic so far#I hope it's going to ease up a little

Getting too old for YA fiction I fear, I've gotten to the point where I'm saying things like "that's not how school works" and "maybe you should all calm down a little"
#books#reading#very strongly reminded of the one time I read a book and was like#'this is not how you install internet in your house actually and you're lucky you don't need to call the customer service'#and I felt so old even though I'm not

We talked about it privately but here I am, making a post to give other people my recs in case they're also interested.
Wytchwood - Do you want to be a sassy old witch, craft magical items and subvert fairy tales tropes? Of course you do.
Little Kitty, Big City - Do you want to be a little kitty lost in a big city, meet new friends and wreak havoc on your way home? Of course you do.
Potion Craft - Do you want to have your own little alchemy shop, try to discover new potions, sell more or less questionable stuff to your more or less questionable clients and create the philosophal stone in you basement? Of course you do.
The Sexy Brutale - Do you want to be stuck in a time loop and desperately try to save the guests of a private and mysterious casino which hides a much darker secret? Of course you- Well ok, maybe not of course, but you might want to.
Anyone has good recs for exploration games with the focus not being combat?

I blame @bookcub
Will probably make another list for stuff i read before 2015 at some point
#16#which is an alright number considering that I relied heavily on translation and availabilityin my public library for most of these years#I was also already not following new releases so I missed a lot of stuff#but many are on my tbr!

So, a clarification.
I was supposed to be on standby, which basically mean that me and my colleagues were paid to just hang around and potentially cover for absent colleagues. But then, someone realised that a whole list of positions had been forgotten and we were sent to cover them. And then, someone realised that an essential position was not covered either and my position being not that important I was randomly picked to cover it. This position is literally another job than mine. Some people actually so this job every day, but apparently there were not enough of them, so I had to learn during the exam how to do this job and try not to let my inexperience skew the results.
Spoiler - the results will be skewed.
I discovered something today: the organisation behind national exams can be messed up. And when it is. You would rather not see that. I would rather not have seen that.
God it was so bad. So terrible. Save me.
#my students#if I didn't tell you what I did today and you can guess you get a virtual cookie#anyway the skewed results won't matter that much in the grand scheme of things#it won't really change anything#I just took it a bit too seriously and realised it too late

Mid Year Book Freakout 2025
@bookcub tagged me forever ago, thanks! 9and sorry for the delay, life happened)
Number of books you’ve read so far: 40 novels and a total of 109 comics, mangas, and other assorted graphic novels
Best book you’ve read so far in 2025: The City In Glass by Nghi Vo and Beetle and the Chimera Carnival by Aliza Layne for graphic novels!
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2025: Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans and Oathbound by Tracy Deonn
New release you haven’t read yet but want to: The Incandescent by Emily Tesh
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: The Summer War by Naomi Novik
Biggest surprise favorite new author (debut or new to you): Christopher Buehlman, I really enjoyed The Blacktongue Thief
Newest fictional crush: No one, I didn't get any new hyperfixation so far this year :<
Book that made you cry: Nothing new but the tenth volume of Trigun never fails to make me weep lol
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received): Brighter Than Scale, Swifter Than Flame by Neon Yang but unfortunately I found it kinda underwhelming...
Book that made you happy: Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce. It was such a light and fun read! Also the River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar. I didn't expect it to like it (I'm not a fan of This Is How You Lose The Time War), but ended up finding it absolutely delightful!
What books do you need to read by the end of the year? I'm too lazy to list them all but there's 9 books on my physical tbr that need to be gone by 2026 one way or another lol
Tagging @drawnecromancy @psychofullmoonwerewolf @nerdishfeels @howlsmovinglibrary @ninja-muse @bibliophilicwitch @lizziethereader @ofliterarynature @agardenandlibrary if y'all haven't done it yet and feel like it!

Mid Year book freakout 2025
Tagged by @logarithmicpanda :)
Number of books you’ve read so far : 25 ! Which was my goal for the entire year !
Best book you’ve read so far in 2025 : Le Comte de Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas !
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2025 : Deadline by Mira Grant, the second book in the Newsflesh series. I had also started the last one but I had to give it back to the library before I could finish it, so, I should try to pick it up again next time I can drop by.
New release you haven’t read yet but want to : I don't follow new releases !
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year : lol
Biggest surprise favorite new author (debut or new to you) : ...I'm not sure I understand that one tbh I don't have a favorite author in general so how am I meant to have a new favorite one ? I really liked Taylor Robin's work. And Talhí Briones' romance novel.
Newest fictional crush : No one from the books, that's for certain
Book that made you cry : None of them !
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received) : Hunger's Bite by Taylor Robin. The cover is incredibly striking and it's also the only hardback I treated myself to this year.
Book that made you happy : Mrs Victoria buys a brothel by Talhí Briones :D it's so fun. It's great !
What books do you need to read by the end of the year ? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I don't have a set list. Probably the ones my parents lended to me so I can give them back. Or just, anyhthing from my tbr (gestures at my entire bookshelf). Mid Year Book Freakout 2025
@logarithmicpanda tagged me on my main, thank you as usual!
Number of books you’ve read so far: 50,25 through sweat and tears, the reading year hasn't been great.
Best book you’ve read so far in 2025: The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore, you know it's been bad when the best book I've read is non-fiction.
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2025: Any book of the Burn the House Down manga, by Moyashi Fujisawa.
New release you haven’t read yet but want to: I still don't follow new releases.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: Same answer.
Biggest surprise favorite new author (debut or new to you): I really enjoyed discovering The Woman Who Read too Much by Bahíyyih Nakhjavání, the style and construction are really interesting and I would recommend anyone to just give it a try and see if it works for them or not. Not exactly new but new to me-
Newest fictional crush: None, which is pretty usual.
Book that made you cry: Mmh, no book made me cry yet.
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received): My brain is unable to compute the cover of La Voie du Cygne by Laurent Kloetzer.

Book that made you happy: Lone Women by Victor LaValle, because sometimes you just want horrible people to die horribly.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year? I'm hoping to get through my 25 for 2025 book list. Other than that, my monthly book club and what might be added for university, no pressure this year.
I still don't know anyone and don't want to bother, but if you want to participate, please don't hesitate to pick up from here!
#books#tag game#reading#it feels really bare this year#which really represents the struggle it has been to read

I have these at home, but they're all in French and several years old so I don't know if they are readily available anywhere...
Any recs for folklore books? Preferably not too long and bonus if they have illustrations. I'm open to suggestions in any culture, too, but I'm already familiar with french, german, and japanese tales

I want a dog. I'm perfectly normal about wanting a dog. I did not spend over 3 hours browsing through as many rescue centres in my area as I could.
It is not even certain that my living conditions are suitable to adopt a dog. I just love torturing myself.

Yesterday was my birthday so of course I had to knit a sweater to wear to my birthday dinner.

Pattern is the Rumble Raglan by Lydia Morrow.

I did some embroidery! My dad and my younger sister got matching balaclavas and were unable to tell them apart, so I tried my hand at a different activity.
I drew the patterns myself, but I didn't have anything to write on black fabric, so I did it purely on sight - it came out rather well if you ask me!
#embroidery#still not a big fan of this but for small pieces like this it's fine#definitely not on my way to make more intricate designs yet
