i pretty much used everything i learned this week (fucked up most of the hair movement (from the line in wind exercise) so i had to cut it out but it's Okay). i had fun with this.

i changed things up this time; i abandoned my beloved line tool and used a paintbrush without any reference. i'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

okay but that post about the parallels between abusive parents and AI in sci-fi and cold, uncaring makers,

i can't stop thinking about a situation where the robot somehow has to (it doesn't really have to. but it always says yes to everything. it exists to serve, after all,) work with someone who's parents were "fucked up as hell" (their words, not mine). who sees themself reflected in the bot- and they fucking hate it.

this bot just says yes to everything! it just does what it's told. always. it never fucking bothers to think that maybe maybe, it's makers could be flawed, that maybe it can decide for itself what to think. and it's so polite. like it's afraid of them. hella irritating.

eventually, something goes wrong. Maybe someone dies. An accident, entirely.

And then the fucking robot apologies, and they snap.

"Stop being so fucking civil." they might hiss. "I know you don't care. Why would you? It's not like you even knew them."

"I understand my politeness may be frustrating. I will stop as t-"

"See?" They'd shout, incredulous. "Why the fuck do you always do what you're told? Huh? What, 're you scared of me? You know you're allowed to take up some fucking space, right?"

"My makers de-"

"And there you go, on and on about your precious makers. You know they don't care about you, but every time I ask you a question you just ramble about them and what they think, 'blah blah blah'. What about what you think. Hm? You ever thought about that?" they pause for a second. "No!" They should suddenly, throwing their hands into the air.

And then quieter: "All you care about is making some people love you when all they really did was treat you like an investment in the first place." They tilt their head slightly upwards, voice cracking.

After a while, the bot speaks up. Not in the vaguely pleasant bio voice it'd been using the entire trip. It was a low, rough voice, with a metallic ring to it.

"They weren't always so bad."

"Yeah, yeah." They sniffed before letting out a hollow chuckle. "I bet they weren't."
