Break time
Doc woke up to the sound of a light thump against a nearby trapdoor. 'That's strange,' thought Doc. Looking towards his commutator so that he could read the time. 10:51am, 'oh, wait, wasn't that last 4:37am.' His nose scrunched up in pain that was radiating from the middle of his head.
"Wakey, wakey Doc, time to get up now." Standing in front of him was Ren. Quietly laughing as to not make Doc’s migraine worse. “Come on Doc, let's get you out of here. We deserve a break, and like anyway everyone else is having a break today,” Ren explained as he grabbed onto Doc’s wrists and pulled him up. Doc Let out a small cough after sleeping on the hard ground of the octagon’s belly where the newly installed redstone belonged.
“Boatem has a meeting planned for today,” Doc replied as he pulled his coat on properly as it had begun to fall off his arm.
“Yeah, well,” Ren added, leading Doc towards the trapdoor to get outside. “Their meeting hardly counts as work, do they?”
“Fair enough,” Doc huffed as he pulled himself through the trapdoor. “So what have you got planned then dude? It sounds like you do.” Then Helping Ren get out himself.
“I know we do that barbecue each time we have a meeting. But they only last for like an hour or so. So I’d thought we could spend a whole day doing something like that. You’ve been working so hard with the Octagon and all the weird stuff happening, we deserve a break.” Ren explained to his base mate.
“Yeah you’ve right.” said Doc. “We will need to go grab some stuff from storage and then we can get going.”
“Right you are my man,” answered Ren as he strapped his elytra to his back. Doc then did the same.
“Let’s get going.” Doc said as the two of them flew off to get their stuff. The sound of fireworks exploding echoing around the walls of the Octagon.

Holiday Cheer
Happy holidays, @franthehorsegir! This was really cute to write! I hope it’s something you like <3 (ps feel free to scream at me abt mcyt lol)
Written for the @sanderssidesgiftxchange
fandom: Sanders Sides
cw: light blood (in a Remus way!)
Additional notes: hey folks, haven’t written for this fandom in a while! I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the last thing I write for it, tbh. I currently write for the 3rd Life, Last Life, and Empires SMPs. If you’re a fan of any of those, feel free to check out my blog or my ao3, linked HERE! You can also find my past TS stuff in both of those places :) Hope you enjoy!
~
In every family, there’s always someone who doesn’t like Christmas.
Virgil happens to be that person in two families.
The Light Sides celebrate fully, pulling out all the stops. Patton starts baking in November and doesn’t stop until January, Roman goes on a caroling spree and starts spontaneous snowball fights, even Logan gets in on the fun by researching every Christmas legend and figuring out how they might be based in fact. There are decorations all over the house, presents pile up under the Christmas tree, and the Hallmark channel is permanently broadcasting to every TV in the house.
It’s not that it isn’t fun, per se, it’s just … not Virgil’s thing. The first year after his acceptance, he hid out in his room for nearly the entirety of the holidays. Every time he left he was nailed by a snowball, anyway, so he didn’t feel that there was any big loss.
The Dark Sides also love Christmas. Remus hadn’t been too big on it before he discovered Christmas horror films, but now he commits to the holiday with a passion. One of his favorite activities is baking gingerbread men that are missing various limbs, or decorating the house with red streamers that look suspiciously bloody. As much as Janus tries to pretend it isn’t his thing, Virgil’s never seen someone as excited about Secret Santa or White Elephant games as Janus gets.
No matter where he goes, Virgil can’t escape the cheer. To each his own, of course—there’s nothing wrong with the holiday, as long as people enjoy it. But the stress of gifts (what do they want, what’s an appropriate amount of money to spend on them, will they be getting me something in return or will I be putting them in an uncomfortable situation by giving them a present), family members visiting and friends showing up announced, figuring out who was hosting what necessary parties/dinners/gift exchanges, the general frenzy in the air … yeah. Christmas is a busy, stressful time for Virgil.
Which is why he’s confused when an invitation from Janus appears on his dresser. Both of his families know how he feels about the season, and they know that he’s usually buried in social interaction paperwork. To make matters worse, it’s an invitation to a party that night—Christmas Eve. Luckily it specifies that he’s not to bring a gift: if that line wasn’t there, he probably would have had a panic attack and then he would have throttled that snake.

Sanders Sides gift exchange for Alicia
I hadn't been able to write any fanfiction for a while but this gave me the motivation to do some writing. I loved writing this wish of yours. Here is your domestic Moceit fluffiness. When I wrote this I made it take place on Christmas eve, turns out that is the date that I'm posting this. @ursapolaris @sanderssidesgiftxchange
word count: 1055Summary: Patton and Janus has lovely Christmas eve with baby Virgil and the other sides being toddlers. Also flirting with cookies. Can't forget about that.
Also on Ao3 and my main blog @franthehorsegir
How to flirt using Cookies - A Guide By Janus Sanders
As Patton looked out of the window as snow fell gently to the frozen ground. He was currently wanting for the cookies that he had just pulled out of the oven to cool down on the cooling rack that was sitting on the table. It had been a busy Christmas eve for him and his family so far. Looking over to where the twins, Roman and Remus were sitting in their high chairs, Roman was trying to eat his banana slices. While on the other hand Remus was ignoring his banana slices in favor of trying to steal Roman’s ones.
Once the cookies were cooled, Patton took over the icing that he had made earlier. There was a nice selection of colours ranging from a deep forest green to bright red to golden yellow. “Roman, Remus,” Patton asked as  he looked at the twins, “What colour should I start with?”
It took a few seconds of the twins to process the question that Patton asked them. Then at the same time both of the twins spoke. “Green”, “Red,” the two of them shouted.
“Ok then,” Patton replayed before grabbing the two bowls of the coloured icing. Patton sat in one of chairs at the kitchen as he thought of a Christmas themed design to put on the round cookie. A moment later Patton had picked out a design. Scoping the red icing into an icing bag, Patton then iced the round cookie a bright red colour. Setting that bag down, he then picked up the next icing bag and filled it with the green icing. Gripping the bag in hand, Patton carefully piped out some stripes and a few dots creating a Christmas bobble design.
Taking the decorated cookie in hand, Patton held it up to the watchful eyes of the twins. Roman smiled in aprovel, Remus did the same while taking the last of Romans banana slices. Patton smiled back at the two toddlers. Setting the cookie on a large plate, Patton began to work on the next of many.
-----------
Janus was sitting on his bedroom floor surrounded by both wrapped and unwrapped presents, different types of wrapping paper and ribbons. In front of him sat two of his four sons, Logan who was pushing up his glasses that were slightly too big for his face, the other, Virgil was  sleeping in his storm cloud patterned baby bouncer chair.
Reaching over for the next present that needed to be wrapped, Janus pulled over a fluffy baby blue cat hoodie that he was going to give to Patton in the morning. As Janus set it down on his left and grabbed the wrapping paper that he was using to mark which presents that was being gifted to his husband.
Logan leaned forward to get a closer at what his dad was doing with the paper. Once the paper had been cut and the rest of the paper was put on the other side of Janus. Janus then placed the hoodie in the middle of the colour paper. He then moved the paper on each side on the hoodie so that it was hugging the sides of the fabric. Logan then placed his small hands over where the wrapping overlapped so that Janus could tape them together. Once that side was scurer with enough tape, Logan slowly raised his small hand from the present and smiled at Janus. Janus then smiled and nodded back at Logan.
Janus then turned the present at a 90 degrees angle. He then folded the flat ends so that they met each other in the middle of the present. Logan then repeated the same thing as he had done before. The present was turned over so that Logan could pick out the colour of ribbon that Janus would use on this present. Logan walked over to the bag of brightly coloured ribbons and pulled out a golden yellow to use. “Thanks Logan,” Janus said. Logan pushed his glasses up again as they had begun to slip down his nose again.
-------------
“Hey Honey,” greeted Janus as he walked into the kitchen. ‘Patton must have cleaned up after the twins.’ He thought as he got closer to his husband. “Were the twins causing any trouble with the cooking?” Janus asked as he smiled at the plate of decorated cookies that was sitting in the middle of the table.
“Not at all, dear. The only thing was that Remus was trying to take Roman’s banana slices.” Patton replied as he smiled at the memory of the twins earlier in the day.
“Of course Roman’s ones would taste better than his own.” Janus remarked. “Have you had any of the cookies yet? They smell lovely.”
“Oh yes I did,” Patton’s next words were cut off by Janus placing his lips onto Patton’s own. First frozen in surprise, he then melted into Janus’ touch as his hand was gently pressed onto Patton’s cheek. Slowly pulling back Janus had a small smirk on his lips. “What was that for?” Patton asked with a pink dusting across his face.
“Well,” Janus paused for effect, “I wanted to taste the cookies that you made. I must say that they are divine.” He said he drew out the end of the final word.
Patton let out a small giggle that evolved into a bigger one. Soon Janus was laughing along with him. The sound of laughter was quickly interrupted as a small Logan had creeped up behind them as they where it looked. The pair of them were only alerted to his presents as Logan tugged on Patton’s trouser leg.
“Daddy, why were you and dad laughing so much?” Logan asked before being picked up by Patton.
“So your dad was being a bit of a silly sausage.” Patton answered his son as he booped Logan softly on the tip of his nose and then ruffled his hair. Patton then put Logan back on his feet.
Logan once again adjusted his glasses. “Roman and Remus want to watch a film. They can’t pick the same one.”
“Come on little nerd. Let's pick something out. What do you want to watch?” Janus asked as he and Logan walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. Patton's heart melted as he turned around to make some warm drinks for everyone.

Logan and Remus’ day in
Sanders Sides gift exchange present for @alicat54c. Hope you enjoy this story, happy Christmas and new year. @sanderssidesgiftxchange also posted on my main blog
Small warming contains:
blood, scalpels, dissection of the heart and lungs, food, and discussion of diseases.
Remus and Logan spend a nice quiet day together in the mindscape.
“Hey, Lo Lo,” Remus whispered in Logan’s ear as he popped up behind him, covering his boyfriend’s eyes with his hands. “Did you know that the ‘Black Death’ wasn’t originally called the Black Death; It was called ‘The Pestilence’ or ‘The Great Mortality’. Which rhymes with Morality. Almost spelled the same too.” Logan internally sighed of fondness. Softly breaking Remus’ hold over his eyes, Logan turned around on the couch. He had been sitting on it but the position that he had changed to was now kneeling on it, with arms braised against the back of the couch for support. The couch’s surface bending to adjust to Logan’s new position. Facing Remus, Logan slowly moved his head forward and kissed Remus on the lips, stopping him from talking for a moment.
“If you wanted to get down and dirty then you could have just said so,” suggested Remus as he winked one eye and then the other at Logan. Before he vaulted over the back of the couch to sit next to his gorgeous boyfriend. Logan in return let out a rare giggle that was reserved for Remus, and Remus only. Whenever Remus ended up making Logan giggle it made Remus’ insides all hot and sticky like they had become molten magma swirling inside the earth or maybe the melted insides of a chocolate brownie or maybe molten magma in a chocolate brownie, Logan and him could try and come up with a recipe for them. ‘That was a good idea,’ thought Remus.
“So,” began Logan as the giggling died down, “What have you got planned for this afternoon?” He asked as he set down the book on plagues that he had been reading for the past hour or so before Remus had shown up. The book must have been the thing that had given Remus the idea about the comment about the black death that he had made before he sat down next to Logan.
“I‘m not sure yet,” Remus thought for a second as he shrugged his shoulders before he next spoke, “I just came to see if you were busy or not. It looks like you aren’t so… I was wondering if I could give you something.” Logan didn’t even have time to respond before something was shoved in front of his face. Before that had happened, Logan was going to say that Remus could do so, but his boyfriend had done it before Logan could have even tried to get a word out. Sitting in a not so neat position in Remus’ hands, was a slowly beating heart, with fresh oxygenated blood running down Remus’ arms and onto the sleeves of the outfit that he was wearing. Because of its black colouring, any stains would not be noticeable at first. Well, until you caught wind of the smell of the dried blood.
“Here,” said Remus as he handed the still struggling heart to Logan, his sharp teeth being revealed as he smiled at his Lo Lo. As Logan carefully took to heart from Remus’ hold, blood began to run down the pale skin of his wrists and then down his arms.
Logan looked from the heart to his boyfriend, and then back at the heart. “Remus, is there anything pacific that you would like me to do with this?” asked Logan as he softly tilted his head to the side and brought it to eye level to get a closer look at it.
Remus gently shrugged his shoulders with a small smile written upon his face. If Roman was there he would have described the scene as his brother having love hearts floating around his head, even if they weren’t physically there. Roman would have also described Logan as having  shining stars in his eyes with the way that he was looking at Remus. Logan’s expression broke into another smile. “So it’s ok if we dissect it together then?” Remus’ own heart sped up that idea. Nodding his head in excitement, Remus almost ended up falling off of the couch. Almost. Logan carefully but quickly moved the heart into just one hand, and the other one, stained with blood, grabbed hold of Remus’ hand, pulling him up into a standing position. Saving him from falling on the floor.
“Come on then,” encouraged Logan as he pulled Remus along into the kitchen by the hand. As the pair arrived in the room Logan summoned a wooden cutting board, 3 different sized scalpels, and some plastic tubs. The last one just in case anything was needed to be put in a container or two. All of the items appeared in an organized fashion on the light brown kitchen table. The scalpel in size order on the left side of the board; The tubs on the right.
As Logan placed the heart down on the wooden board it finally stopped beating. Meanwhile, Remus had been dragging over two chairs that matched the table, getting bloodstains on the places where he had touched them. ‘I’ll clean that up later,’ thought Logan as Remus finished adjusting them in the place that he wanted. “Would you like to help me?” asked Logan, sitting in the chair to the left of the board.
“Naw,” Remus answered back to Logan, lightly bounding his forehead against Logan’s shoulder in a show of affection. Remus was just wanting to watch Logan take apart the heart, and then maybe some other things that he summoned up. “I’m good to just watch you,” he added before standing on the chair that was free and then crouched down so that he was at the same height as his boyfriend. ‘The perfect height to give surprises’, thought Remus, ‘such as this’, before Remus kissed Logan on the check. Red spreading across Logan’s face.
Logan smiled back at Remus and then turned his attention back to the activity in front of him. Picking up the biggest scalpel, Logan carefully pressed the sharp blade against the surface of the heart, slicing across the top layer of the muscle. More dark blood seeping out of the opening.
Gently placing the scalpel back into the position that it was in before, but before Logan did anything next a soft snap sound came from his right side. Turning his head, Logan to Remus who was holding a pair of plastic blue gloves. Handing them to his boyfriend Remus spoke up, ”You forgot these, I thought that you would want them.”
It was a little late if Logan had wanted to avoid getting blood on his hands, but Logan really appreciated the gesture coming from his boyfriend. Taking the gloves from Remus, both of their expressions lighting up at the simple but meaningful interaction between them. Sliding them on to his hands, Logan then held his hands on either side of the incision in the heart, pulling each side apart to get a look inside, with some of the chambers of the heart revealed.
The pair sat in silence until Remus broke it, no longer being able to stand it, before blurting out what he was thinking about. “I did you know that more blood goes to your kidneys,” he said as he poked Logan in the side, “Than your brain.” This time poking Logan’s head.
“Yes Re, I did. That’s because your kidneys filter waste products out of your blood so more does need to go through them than your brain. Did you know that the Heart on average only weighs about 11 ounces.” Answered Logan, “Also the length of time that this heart beat out of a body that you gave me was extremely accurate. Just about a minute or so.” Added Logan, as he was finishing up dissecting the heart.
“Hey Smarty, do you want to dissect something else?” Asked Remus, making it look like the heart pieces had vanished. Well they hadn’t, Remus had just moved them to his room for a project that he was going to make later that night. He didn’t know what that was yet but he would come up with something.
“What did you have in mind?” Asked Logan as he cleaned off the cutting board and the set of scalpels. Logan was happy to dissect anything that Remus summoned, as long as Remus was enjoying himself.
“Since they are related, why not do the lungs next?” Asked Remus, not expecting an answer but he got one anyway.
“Well one reason to not do the lung is,” But before he could finish that sentence he was cut off by Remus grabbing his blue and black tie, and ruffly kissing him. Which snapped him out of his train of thought.
“That wasn’t what I had meant, my Dork,” Said Remus as he pulled back. Logan’s skin heated up in embarrassment, but also from the kiss that Remus had just given him.
“Oh right,” half laughed Logan as Remus summoned a pair of lungs onto the board in front of them. Directing his attention back to the dissection in front of them, Logan then went back to work. “The name lung comes from the word ‘lunge’ which means ‘light,’ commented Logan as he cut apart part of the left lung.
“Really?” responded Remus, before he answered back with his own fact. “Lungs can float on water. Cause some air is still in there, even after you have breathed out. Also lungs are the only organ that can float in water. Well unless you drown them I guess, I’ll need to work that into an idea in the future.” Remus decided as he stared off to the other side of the room that they were in, trying to come up with a new idea.
As Remus was doing that, Logan was finishing dissecting the lungs after having a good look at them. But it was clear to Logan the Remus attention was headed somewhere else, so this was just as good a time as any to tidy up the equipment and the now dried blood stains, such as on the backs of the chairs that they were sitting on as well as the stains on the sleeve of Remus’ outfit. That would save Remus the effort of doing it later, and maybe from getting more blood on anything else as well.
“Re,” said Logan to get Remus’ attention onto him so that he was listening to him. Remus in turn made a small noise in acknowledgement of Logan. “So I was thinking since we have now done that, I was wondering if we shall get a quick snack before we move onto something else. Would that be ok dear?” Asked Logan before he stood up and tucked the chair under the wooden table.
“Yeah, of course.” exclaimed Remus as he sprang out for the chair he had awkwardly been sitting/standing on, the chair falling down and slamming it’s back against the hard floor. Remus then dashed to the cupboard to the fridge and then back to the cupboard again. This left Logan to pick up the chair and put it back into its right place. Shaking his head, Logan smiled with endearment for Remus as he watched him run about the kitchen like a headless chicken. Logan wondered if that was something that they could experiment with in the future together.
Going over to the cupboard that was next to the fridge, Logan pulled open the door and took out the half used jar of crofters. After placing it on the counter top, Logan set about making some toast for the jam to go on. Once Logan had assembled his snack, he turned to Remus who had just finished getting his own food sorted. His choice of food today was warm popcorn with some little bits of white chocolate spread across the top. It was one of the few snacks that both Remus and Patton could agree on.
Wrapping his arm around Logan's waist, Remus led the two of them into the living room. First Remus sat down on the dark coloured couch, his legs spreading across the rest of the couch. Pulling Logan to sit down in between them, Remus pulled his legs over Logan’s, trapping him there. Not that Logan wouldn't want to be there. Logan’s back softly comes to meet Remus’ chest.
“Lo Lo,” started Remus with bits of food almost falling out his mouth as he spoke, “did you know that there is a disease that can actually cause you to cough blood and stuff. Cool right?”
“Well I wouldn’t call it cool myself but Tuberculosis, if that is the one that you are talking about.” Remus quickly nodded confirming Logan’s thought process. Seeing Remus’ response Logan continued. “But it is interesting that about a third of people carry that bacterium that causes it but does not show any symptoms of the disease. Also only 5 to 10% of the third will be either sick or infectious with it at sometime in their lifetime.” Logan explained. Remus loved when Logan explained sciency stuff to him, and bringing up stuff like that always kicked off that type of conversation.
After the pair had finished eating Remus took his bowl and the plate from Logan, he then dropped them down on the carpeted floor. Leaving them to be picked up by someone else at a later time. “Oh yeah, what was the one that doesn’t let you sleep? Like at all once it starts.” Asked Remus wrapping his arms tightly around Logan’s chest. Logan then in turn moved his head into a better position that it was just below Remus’ chin.
“The one that you are thinking about is called Fatal Familial Insomnia. It stops your ability to sleep, this then makes the person suffering from insomnia to then slip into psychosis. That stops you from being able to tell what is real and what isn’t. Then over a period of time such as a few months it would kill them. There is also no cure or ways to try and treat it. Well at least not yet in any case,” Logan yawned as he finished speaking.
“Ok then, tell me about a really weird one. Like the absolute weirdest one that you are able to think of,” requested Remus as he too ended up yawning.
Logan thought for a minute before he responded to Remus’ inquiry. “Well I don’t know if it does have a name but in 1485 a disease broke out which caused people to sweat to death in a number of hours. It supposedly killed tens of thousands of people because it disappeared as soon as it had come. If that isn’t weird then I don’t know if you can get much weird when it comes to diseases,” Logan added.
“That is an interesting one,” Re commented before he summoned a green and dark blue blanket on top of the two of them. The blanket was thick and soft, spreading across the entire length of the couch. The pair both knew that there was no point in struggling to stay awake. So the pair snuggled into each other. “You want to know what Lo Lo,” Logan pushed deeper into his boyfriend. Remus yawned before he next spoke, “That I love you so much.”
Logan yawned too before he turned around onto Remus’ stomach so that he was facing his boyfriend, so they both wrapped their arms around each other. The blanket partly slipping off of them because of their movement “I Love you too, Re. I love you so much too.” Logan said as Remus readjusted the blanket back into its right place before the pair of sides slowly slipped into the darkness of the unconscious.

Written using the prompt "would you just listen to me for two seconds". the aftermath of putting others first. Janus goes to apologize for what he said.
“Would you just listen to me for two seconds Roman, please”, Janus begged. After he snapped back at Roman he hasn’t stopped feeling guilty about it. He had never meant to cause any harm to anyone, least of all Roman.
Roman paused walking away from Janus, waiting t hear what he was going to say next. “Roman, I’m so sorry for what I did,” Janis said while holding back tears that were collecting in his eyes, “I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted to hurt Patton. It all just spiraled out of control. And I had to get my point across.” Janus stopped his speaking to try and slow down his breathing to a somewhat steady pace. As this was happening Roman had turned around to look directly at Janus. It didn’t take Roman at all to notice that Janus was crying. Not even Janus could fake being that upset. Especially with the red puffy eyes or with that expression that he was wearing. Roman could only describe it as a broken window with a 100 different shards of glass. The image was reinforced in Roman’s head by the way that the tears have made the scales on Janus’ face stand out more.
Janus was about to continue his explanation of his actions, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t speak. His throat had suddenly run day and scratchy as he tried to swallow. Which, considering what happened next wasn’t very much like self-preservation.
“Oh, oh dear”, was the last normal thought that had run its way thought Janus’ head. His breathing sped up, his eyes flicked about the corridor to find something. Janus’ eyes locked onto Roman’s.
Roman could tell that something was wrong. He had spent to much time with the anxious side to know when something was not right. slowly Roman walked back to the way that he came and towards Janus giving him time to react to Roman’s approach.
Roman locked eyes with Janus’, and a small broken, strangled cry managed to brake its way free from the confines of Janus’ throat. That was all it took for Roman to put together the puzzle pieces of what was wrong with Janus. Roman had spent too many evenings helping Patton calm down Virgil from a panic attack. And Janus was deftly having one of them at the moment.
“It’s ok Janus,” Roman said trying to comfort him. There was a reason that it was mainly Patton that helped Virgil with these. Roman could barely stop himself from getting stressed never mind someone else.
At this time Janus was struggling to stay standing upright, his vision was blurred by the wet tears that still clung to his face. His hearing wasn’t much better but somehow a faint sound broke its way though so that Janus here it. “Let’s sit down. It will be ok.” Who was Janus to try and argue with the sound, he would just lose anyway. Slowly with his back agents the wall, Janus managed to get down without falling over. Sitting back agent the wall as to steady himself. Janus’ eyes just stared forward not focusing on anything that was happening. Roman quietly joined him on the floor, thinking about what he needs to do next. There was no way that he could leave him. Not even a minute to find someone who could help. It didn’t feel right if he did. They only way that someone could help way if they stumbled upon them in the hall. Unfortunately this way not going to happen. ‘Think, Roman, think. There’s got to be something that you can remember. There has to be. Oh that’s right Patton does that breathing exercise to help Virgil.’
Roman didn’t if it would be ok to tap out the counts on Janus’ arm or not, so it would better safe and not sorry by making him worse. “De-um, Janus try and focus on the sound of my voice. We are going to slow down your breathing. Try and take in a breath for 4.”
Janus could just about heard what Roman had said but didn’t know where the sound had come from, what could he lose if he did listen to it. It might even mean that Remus had found him and was helping him once again though one of them. Remus always found Janus whenever he had one of these. Sucking in a deep breath to the sound of Roman counting. “That’s great, now try and hold for 8, ok.” This time Janus only got to the count of 4 before he violently started coaching. “It’s ok. It’s ok. Let’s keep trying.”
Taking in another breath to the count of 4, Janus’ thoughts and panic was barley started to slow down but slow down nonetheless. “Hold for 8 if you can,” Roman said trying to help. ‘I hope this is working’ thought Roman.
“That’s it Janus, you’re doing great. Keep going.” Janus slowly took in another breath to the count of 4 and repeated the sequence. After a few minutes of this Jauns managed to realize that he was in fact not in his room, never mind being by himself. Looking up he stared directly into the chocolate brown eyes that belonged to a certain red creative side. ‘Why do his eyes look so pretty’, thought Janus as he diverted his gaze to the cream coloured floor. Both in an effort to hide his embarrassment and the blush that was rapidly spreading across his face. ‘How could I be so dumb. Now he will never let me forget about this from happening.’
“Are you ok Janus?”,Roman asked sitting on the floor next to Janus, staring at the wall on the other side of the hallway. ‘I forgot how soft the carpet was’ thought Roman as he waited for Janus’ response.
Janus bared his face into his yellow gloved hands. “I will take that as a no then,” Roman responded. Not knowing what to say next.
Taking a few breaths to steady his voice, Janus replied “Yes Roman. I’m perfectly fine.” before trying to stand up to leave but unfortunately for Janus, well unfortunately was what he thought. In the long run it was going to help their relationship that he didn’t have the strength or the energy to stand up by himself.
“You do know that this time I can tell that you are lying Janus. I’ve just seen you have a panic attack, and don’t you dare try to deny it. I’ve hung around with Virgil for long enough to tell what a panic attack is and what overly anxious is.” Roman snapped at Janus. Instantly regretting the words that he just spoke. ‘Janus just had a panic attack, and then you just had to go and snap at him. Great job there Roman, you messed it all up again.’ Roman let out a sigh as he finished that thought.
Janus looked at the floor not wanting to meet Roman’s eyes as he spoke. “Well at least I don’t issue about becoming like Remus,” Roman looked directly at Janus, his eyes widening in surprise. “I’m sorry I..I shouldn’t have said those things I said that about you. I shouldn’t have said those things I said before to you. I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry Roman.” At this point Janus was starting to tear buck up again. He stopped speaking as not to sound more pathetic as he thought he looked.
“Hey Janus, It’s ok. It’s going to be.” Roman tried to reassure him as he placed a hand into Janus’ shoulder.
“But it’s not,” Janus said as a tear fell down his face as he pulled away from Roman. “It’s not ok. How can it be? Not after I said all those awful things to you. Or when I was going a bit overboard with the flirting at the trial. I’m s-” before going cut off by Roman.
“If you say one more word and I’m quoting Patton ‘I will physically fight you’.” Janus froze unsure of what to do. “I,” Roman sighed as he collected his thought of what to say to the crying side. “Janus, no matter what I say you are not going to fight me on this or argue about it, ok.”
Janus was very confused by the direction that Roman was going in but agreed to it anyway. “Janus I forgive you.” Hearing this Janus was just about to argue back but Roman stopped him first. “Remember what you agreed to Janus. No arguing.”
“Ok fine but why? Why would you do that? I’ve not given you a reason to trust me never mind forgive me.” Janus questioned.
“Janus the thing is that I still don’t trust you or that you have given me a reason too but that doesn’t mean that I can’t forgive you,” as Roman explained he stared at the wall across from where they are sitting in the corridor but Janus was looking directly at the roman in curiosity at what he was going to say next. “I know that you are wanting a full explanation but I just can’t explain it. It just feels right to forgive you. Sorry that I can’t explain it better than that. I’m also sorry that I laughed at you and you’re name. I was wrong and I still did it. I hope that you can also forgive me for all that I did.” Roman finished speaking all looked directly into Janus’ brown eyes that were swimming with different kinds of emotions. “Of course I forgive you, Ro I wish we didn’t need to have all of this to happen for us to get to this point,” Janus replied.
“Yeah, you are right there,” Roman laughed.
This caused Janus to let out a sigh of relief from part of the worry that he was feeling. Which in turn caused him to suddenly realize the tiredness that was feeling and that he needed to yawn. “Someone must be tried then,” Roman joked.
“Haha very funny Roman. You would be too if you just had a panic attack, wouldn’t you?” Janus rebutted at Roman. After thinking for a minute, a small sound escaped from Janus’ lips.
“What is it?” asked Roman wondering what was on Janus’ mind.
“For some reason my body doesn’t want to move from this position on the floor,” Janus answered.
“Do you want me to help you get back to your room?” Roman said unsure of what Janus’ answer would be because on one hand it was to stay sat in the corridor or on the other was Janus having to expert help from another side that wasn’t Remus. From the light coating of pink that was scattered across Janus’ face Roman could tell that it was going to have to be option two.
“Please,” Janus replied looking away in the opposite direction from Roman trying to hide his face.
Standing up slowing as not to lose his balance, Roman walked in front of Janus and held out a hand for Janus to grab on to. Which he gladly expected. Unfortunately Roman pulled Janus up a bit too fast which sent Janus flying straight into Roman’s chest. Roman managed to grab him before they could both fall over. This ended which Roman’s arms wrapped around Janus’ back and waist. If someone was to stumble upon them in this current pose they would think that they were randomly dancing in the middle of the corridor. Which caused a light blush to cross there faces for a few seconds.
“We should, em,” Roman said awkwardly, parting but with Roman still helping to hold Janus up.
“Yeah,” replied Janus to Roman while staring to the side of Roman’s head.
Slowly but surely, Roman and Janus made there way back down the corridor that Janus had chased Roman down an hour or two ago. As they continued, Janus realized that they were going to have to go past the living room. He just had to hope that there was no one in there. It was embarrassing enough for Roman to have to help him. Never mind someone else seeing him. Seeing him like that. The only one that could see him and have him not be as embarrassed would be Remus. They have helped each other more times than Janus could count of all of his hands. especially after Virgil stopped talking to them for a while.
Entering through the doorway that was the living room, Janus saw, unfortunately, it wasn’t empty. Virgil and Patton were cuddled up on the couch watching one for Patton’s many cartoons. This time it was avatar: the last air bender. From looking at the TV Roman could tell that they were about three fourths through book one.
Janus had his head down as they walked across the room to avoid looking at the pair on the couch.
Roman looked over to Patton and Virgil to see what their reactions would be to him scaly getting along with Janus.
If the situation wasn’t as serious as it was Roman would have laughed at Virgil's reaction. With wide eyes and a slacked jaw, Virgil looked back and forth from Roman and Janus to Patton next to him to confirm what he was seeing was real. Patton the other hand looked over to Roman as if to say ‘are you guys ok’ and that ‘do you need any help. Roman gently shook his head to say that they were fine, or that they were going to be anyway.
As the red and yellow pair left the living room all that could be heard from there was “What was all that about” in the sound of Virgil’s voice.
Lucky there wasn’t far left to get to Janus’ room. As they approached, for the first time Roman actually had a close look at what was Janus’ door. A black down with yellow snakes going up and down the door, with a name tag that said “Deceit” on it. “I haven’t had a chance to change it yet,” Janus as he saw where Roman was looking at the door. “Umm, thanks for helping me get back here Roman.”
“Oh, you’re welcome Janus,” Roman replied as he opened the door to help Janus on but upon seeing what was inside Roman froze in surprise. ‘This is definitely not what I had expected’ though Roman. The walls of the room had been painted a light grey. The floor, a bright yellow carpet with a black rug on top as not to overwhelm the room with too much colour. Janus’ bed was pushed back against the top left corner of the room and was piled high with blankets and a few plushes of different animals. The ones that stood out the most to Roman was the red loin and the yellow snake that were right up at the top of the bed next to the pillows. On the other side of the room are several bookshelves filled with books and other things that Janus had collected over the years that he felt important enough to have on display. Next to the door was at first what Roman though to be a fish tank, but there was no water in it. Poking out from a rock was the face of a small corn snake that was staring up at Roman with curiosity written on its face. There was also a TV across from the bed with a collection of different films ranging from documentaries to Disney classics that Roman loved. “Well this is different than what I had thought It would be,” Roman said to no one in particular.
“What did you expect it to be like. One of the evil layers that super villains have?” Janus snapped.
“Kinda, yeah but a bit warmer than what they seem to look like,” Roman replied with fondness escaping into his voice.
“Janus just rolled his eyes at Roman’s idea as if to say ‘of course that’s what you thought’, “I’m sorry I snapped at you, you didn’t deserve it.”
“It’s ok. You thought I was going to be horrible about your room. I actually like your room a lot. It definitely suits you now that I know you a little bit better now,” Roman reassured.
“Thanks,” Janus said simply as Roman helped him to his bed. The last of Janus’ energy wasn’t going to last long.
“Are you going to be ok for the night?” Roman asked standing awkwardly unsure of what to now do with his hands now that he has set Janus down on his bed.
“I, um,” Janus paused to think of a way to put it into words of what he was feeling. Looking down Janus mumbled something under his breath, too embarrassed to meet Roman’s eyes as he spoke.
“What was that Janus? I couldn’t hear you when you talk like that,” Roman said trying to pull the word out from Janus.
It was only slightly louder voice that Janus next spoke in, “could you please stay?”
This was just loud enough for Roman to understand what he was saying. “Janus don’t worry about it. Do you want to know something?” Roman questioned.
“What is it?” Janus answered trying to suppress a yawn. It didn’t work. This to Roman was very cute.
“I kinda don’t want to be as well,” Roman said. As he waited for Janus’ reaction Roman also yawned. ‘I guess the right thing that says that yawns are contagious from people that you like are true’.
“Thanks. I’m sorry. I get clingy after having one of those.” Janus said supposed that Roman would feel the same way.
“It’s fine Janus. More than fine really. If it’s ok, can I go put on a film?” Roman asked looking back at Janus.
“Sure. You can pick which one you want to. I like all of the ones that are there,” Ater Janus finished speaking he shuffled over to the other side of the bed to make room for Roman to get in. Janus was secretly hoping that Roman would be ok if he tried to cuddle him.
With a smile on Roman’s lip, he walked over to the TV and DVD player to pick which one that he was going to choose. Scanning his eyes across the boxes of the films, one almost immediately stood out to him. “I didn’t know that you liked frozen?” Roman asked smiling back at the half-snake side who had in the time that Roman had been picking, had wrapped himself in many of the blankets that had been on the bed.
“There is a lot of things that you don’t know about me,” Janus answered trying to act all ominous but Roman just let out a small giggle at Janus’ behavior.
After putting on the film and pressing play, Roman walked back over to the bed and climbed in. this caused Janus to wrap his arms around Roman and placed his head on the creative side’s chest. “Umm, is this ok,” Janus asked unsure if it was alright to do so.
“This is perfect, Janus. It’s so much better than perfect.” Roman to said to reassure him. With that the pair of sides settled down to watch the film.
Janus was the first to fall asleep. Roman could tell by Janus’ breathing evening out. “I hope that we don’t have to fight for us to end up cuddling. I wish that we could do this anytime we wanted to.” Roman said as he ran his fingers through Janus’ soft hair. And soon Roman was lulled to sleep by the gentle snores that came from the snake side.

The day was coming. There was no stopping him and now he is gone forever. Virgil left them.
“Damnit,” said Deceit as he saw the door to the part of the mind where the light sides lived was wedged open. “He did it. He really did it.” With that said Deceit’s knees buckled under the weight of what had happened, he didn’t want for this to happen. He really didn’t, fight after fight, argument after argument, and for what. To somehow convince Virgil not to leave them. To leave Deceit and Remus by themselves. In the struggle that was their life. At least that they were together. All in the same boat.
Virgil knew that he had a chance to escape from that situation even at the cost of his relationship with the other dark sides, as Roman had oh so creatively named them.
As Deceit’s knees hit the hard wooden floor when he collapsed. Unknown wetness gathered at his eyes. ‘Oh yeah,’ Deceit thought ‘I’m crying. How pathetic can you be.’ he thought, he was meant to be the cold, snake-faced liar that the light sides believed him to be. The rest of Deceit’s body followed suit. Crashing into the side of the badly stained and torn couch that resided in their living room.
How long he had sat there Deceit didn’t know going over and over each little thing that was said or done in the lead up to this. The thing that snapped him out of his thoughts was the gentle touch of Remus’ fingertips on the back of Deceit’s gloved hand.
Remus was surprised to find the normally calm, cool and collected Deceit on the floor with almost dry tear tracks running down Dee’s face as he starred off onto the distance not seeing what was in front of him. Remus had an uncomfortable feeling sitting in his stomach. The bad feeling resting there whenever Dee and Virgil had been fighting before.
“DeeDee is it ok if I hug you,” Remus asked. Yeah sure he was normally loud and disruptive to anyone and everyone but there was a time and a place for that, but even Remus can tell that this isn’t it.
Deceit softly nodded his head just enough that Remus could tell. Gently as he could Remus wrapped his arms around the smaller side. The warmth and pressure of the hug were enough to push him back over the edge to tears. Remus could help it but join in.
The common thought that was running through both of their heads was ‘Virgil is gone and he isn’t coming back’. No matter how much they cried. No matter how much they mourned for the loss. No matter how they would just about do anything to get he back. He wasn’t coming back.
It was an hour or so before Remus separated himself from Deceit to pick him up and put him on the couch. Deceit wined at the loss of warmth and touch. He couldn’t go through any more loss at the moment. If he did, he would just break even more. “Shh. It’s ok. It will be ok.” Remus said as he picked Deceit up and placed him on the couch. “I promise I will be back in less than a minute. You can count if you want to.” Remus said making sure that Dee would be ok for the short time that he would be gone. Deceit looked like he wasn’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Once that was done Remus ran to the kitchen. It could hardly be called that. It was more of a room with a stained fridge, cooker that only worked half the time, a table with three chairs that were falling apart and a single small cupboard. Diving straight to the fridge Remus grabbed two water bottles. As he balanced them in his arms he went over to the cupboard and got the last box of cereal bars.
Rushing back to the living room Remus saw that Deceit hadn’t moved at all. “I’m back double  Dee. How long was I?” Remus asked trying to make Deceit smile even just for a second. It didn’t work. Remus’ face fell into a frown. He had to be strong for Dee. After all the times that he had helped him in the past when he wasn’t great. Especially when they had just met.
Seeing that the approach that Remus was going for wasn’t going to work in the slightest. So It was time to try Dee’s method that he would do in this situation. Remus put the bottles of water next to Deceit with the box of the breakfast bars. Pulling the softest blanket that there was from the back of the couch he wrapped it around Deceit. Dee had cross-stitched it himself for when it was too cold to do anything but for Virgil, Deceit, and Remus to cuddle up to stay warm, with Deceit in the middle.
Grabbing one of the bottles Remus opened it to give to Dee. Please Dee, drink some of it.” Remus begged. Normally he wasn’t one for begging, he preferred it from somebody else. Remus just about banished the though back to the darkness of his mind. Deceit slowly took the bottle and had a mouth full of cold water. While Deceit was doing this Remus had grabbed his own and downed half of the bottle.
Setting it down with the lid back on. Remus looked back over to Deceit who was slowly sipping the drink staring off into space. Remus wished that he could know what was going on in Dee’s head but then Remus realized that it wouldn’t help either of them.
Once Deceit had drunk almost half of the bottle, Remus prided it from Deceit’s grasp and sealed it back up. Placing it next to his own. Remus then wrapped his arms back around the smallest side.
“It will be ok Dee Dee. I promise that it will be. That it will be ok. It may not seem like it some of the time but we will be.” Comforting not just Deceit but himself as well. Soon the pair of them was fast asleep. Getting really to face whatever tomorrow will bring them.

Songfic
Virgil can't sleep so he does something about it.
Thanks for the memories As Virgil rolled over he stared into the all-consuming darkness that was his room. He knew it was going to be a long night, no matter what he did. It was one of those nights. Signing to himself, Virgil pushed the mountain of blankets from off his overheating body. Normally the weight of the blankets calmed him down but no, it wasn’t going to work tonight.
‘I might as well do something productive’ Virgil thought as he stretched their arms above their head. Hearing a small crack as their full length was extended. Grabbing the massive pair of headphones and his phone from the bedside table. Virgil placed them on his head, went onto Spotify and played the first song to come up which in this case was ‘I write sins, not tragedies’. As the notes flowed through his headphones Virgil started to calm down.
Looking back into the darkness at the mess that was the room. He wanted to tidy it, needed to tidy it. But could do it without waking the other, he didn’t know and with his current stress levels he couldn’t try and find out if they did wake up. So that plan went out the window.
‘I could draw or something’ Virgil then thought. So going to do just that, Virgil turned on the lamp next to his bed, then the sketchbook filled with drawings of different animals and song lyrics from a range of bands. Grabbing the closest pen Virgil went to work on the newest artwork. As Virgil was drawing he quietly sang “thanks for the memories, even though they weren't so great.”
After an hour or two, the drawing was done. A spider with little tufts of hair coming from its legs. Lots of detail on the beady black eyes on it. Next to it on either side of the spider was a small yellow corn snake and a green octopus with its tentacles spreading out across the background of the picture. At the bottom of the page, Virgil had written.
Baby, we built this house On memories Take my picture now Shake it till you see it And when your fantasies Become your legacy Promise me a place In your house of memories

Slowly Roman awoke to be greeted with a calming scene of everyone cuddled up on the couch. Remus was using Deceit’s torso as a pillow. Patton was hugging Logan in his sleep, and Virgil and Wander were sleeping near the end of the couch wrapped in a multitude of different coloured blankets and pillows no doubt it was Patton the must-have summoned them in last night.
Pulling himself from the pile of bodies, Roman went to go start making breakfast. Normally Logan and Patton would be the first to awaken. Even when they did have a Disney marathon, but Patton did have a really late night last night. Roman thought it was a little bit strange that Logan still wasn’t up yet as he made his way to the kitchen.
The first thing that any of the sides did in the morning was put on a pot of coffee, cause even if they didn’t drink it themselves the others would be grateful for it. Especially Logan and Virgil. ‘Remus is definitely not getting any’ Roman thought as he put out the eggs and bacon from where they belonged. As Roman was finishing up the main part of breakfast, he could hear soft speaking coming from the living room. Signaling that at least two of the others were awake.
As he piled the food onto plates, Deceit and Logan wandered into the room. Logan heading straight to the coffee and poured themself a cup. Well, as straight as you could get for the sides. “Hey Deceit, do you want a cup,” Logan asked the yellow side as he held up the pot.
“Sure,” Deceit replyed. Logan poured another cup and gave it to Deceit.
“Is anyone else up yet?” Roman said placing the plates on the table.
“Not yet,” Logan responded, “We should awake them up as keeping a regular sleep schedule will stop them from getting tired as quickly,” Logan explained on why they should be woken up.
“Ok nerd. I’ll go get them up, most will still probably be tired after last night. Help yourself to breakfast.” Roman said as he then went to go do what he said he would.
Roman headed into the living room, he saw the other stir from their slumber. “Wow,” Remus said as he sat up. “That was a strange dream.”
“What counts as a strange dream for you?” Remus was about to speak up but was shut down by Roman. “Nevermind, What must be weird for you must be really bad.”
“What I meant by strange was that it seemed more like your sort of dream,” Remus commented which surprised Roman.
“Let us wake the others up for breakfast. Not by scaring them, ok,” Roman said as he saw what Remus was about to do.
“Fine,” Remus said exasperated, as he woke up Patton, Virgil and then finally Wander. Slowly everybody got up and wandered thought to the kitchen for something to eat. As they entered Deceit and Logan were sitting at the table, with a cup of coffee and a plate of food that they liked.
Remus started to walk over to the coffee pot in the coffee machine. “No, Remus.” Roman’s voice cut through the silence of the early morning. “No coffee.”
“Aww come on Roman. Let me have some,” Remus complained.
“Maybe later ok,” Deceit said. “If you stay in your half of the imagination.”
“Soon,” Remus said ominously.
“Ok now that is over with,” Logan said drawing to attention to himself, “we should get down to finding out why Wander had that panic attack.”
“What’s a panic attack,” Wander piped up as they rubbed the tiredness from their eyes. “That was what happened to you last night. Do you remember what you were thinking about before that happened.” Patton asked trying not to spook them into another one
“I guess,” Wander started to think about it. “I guess might have been because,” Wander’s voice went quiet, “I don’t know what I’m doing or how I’m going to fit in.” Wander stopped talking and looked down.
“Hey Wander,” Patton stated, “it doesn’t matter if you don’t know what you are doing or how you fit in. we will always be here. No matter what happens.” during this Patton took Wander’s hands on their own. Once Patton was finished speaking Wander started to cry. “Hey, hey. It’s ok,” Patton said as Wander clasped into Patton’s arms crying their heart out. Because they were so confused and scared of what was going to happen.
After a while Wander was all cried out. “Hey, Patton.” Wander said to get Patton’s attention.
“Yes, kiddo,” Patton answers wondering what they were going to ask them. Patton just knew it was going to be a hard question to answer.
“Why did I become,” Wander paused for a moment to wave their hands at themself, “this? Or what even is my purpose?”
Patton was right this was a hard question to answer. “I didn’t know, I don’t think that anyone of us knows the answer to those question yet. But Wander there must be a reason for you being here. Even if is as small as you make us happy.” Patton smiled trying to reassure Wander.
“Thanks, Patton, sorry for causing all this trouble for everyone.” Wander replied unsure of what to do next.
“Wander, please listen. You will never be any trouble for us. We have may have changed our routine a little or something like that but change is good most of the time. So try not to get worried about those questions. We all will be ok.” Patton finished emphasizing the last sentence. Wander eyes were still wet from the previous tears but they looked like they were about to start crying again but this time from all the different emotions flooding through them.
“Patton,” Wander asked after they stopped crying this time.
“Yeah kiddo,” Patton answered, wondering what Wander was going to say or ask.
“I know we have been doing it a lot recently but could we some films or something.” Wander said.
“That’s a great idea kiddo. Why don’t we watch some Steven Universe, you really liked watching that when Dee and Remus brought you to the rest of us,” Patton suggested to Wander.
“That is an amazing idea, thank you, Patton,” Wander said. “I’ll go set it up. Would you be able to make us something to drink.” Wander asked.
“I’ll go get the rest of the sides, then I’ll make those drinks,” Patton said and left to go find them.
Wander went into the living room and found season one of Steven Universe, to start from the beginning of the show. Shortly after putting the first disk into the DVD player. Patton came in with a tray of 7 drinks on it. Wandering after Patton was Logan and Deceit deep in a discussion about the best kind of moral code to live by. Them it was the twins, with Remus on top of Roman’s shoulders but with Roman trying, and failing to get him off. Followed by Virgil who was trailing at the back of the group.
Everybody but Patton and Wander climbed up onto the couch into a massive cuddle pile with Patton handing out everyone’s preferred drinks. Patton and Wander then joined everybody else up on the couch. Wander grabbed the remote from the arm of the couch and pressed play. As this happened the others settled down for a quiet evening of Steven Universe and warm drinks.

“Hi Patton, Hi Logan,” Wander said as they entered.
“Patton gives the cookies,” Roman asked. Roman and Remus then tried to give the biggest puppy dog eyes to Patton.
“Why are they doing that?” Logan asked unsure of what they were doing and why.
“Well kiddo, they are trying to look cute and get me to give them the cookies I made earlier,” Patton said.
“Sorry, Patton. I hold them about the cookies,” Wander said.
“It’s ok kiddo, here you go,” Patton said as he handed a cookie to each of us. This was when Deceit and Virgil walked in. Deceit’s eyes light up at the sight of the cookies. Patton seeing the others handed them a cookie each as well.
The cookies that Patton made were amazing though Wander, looking at the faces of the others it seemed that everyone else thought so as well “thanks Patton,” Wander said, “they are really, really good.”
“Thanks,” Patton said and then everyone else agreed. Deceit especially but trying to look like they didn’t care but they did.
“Why don’t we watch another film,” Roman suggested.
“That’s a good idea,” Wander said not actually sure if they normally watched this many films or if it was to try and get used to having them about. Wander liked how things were, but they didn’t know if this was going to change or what. This was when Wander’s breathing picked up its speed. ‘What if they are only acting like this because I’m new. Or that they don’t know which side I belong to. What if I’m a ‘dark side’ or a ‘light side’. I don’t even know, I haven’t existed for more than 36 hours or so. Wander was panicking and Virgil was the first to notice what was happening, and that Wander was lost deep in their thoughts.
“Hey Wander,” Virgil said in a calm and steady voice as not to surprise them. “Focus on me ok. We are going to slow down your breathing. Okay.” Wander nodded looking at Virgil. They were aware of how strange their body felt. Like they were just numb all over and there was nothing that they could do about it. They didn’t know what was happening to them or how to stop it.
“In for four seconds,” Wander sucked in a deep breath that they could, “hold for seven seconds,” Wander tried but started coughing, “that’s ok,” Virgil said continuing to help. “In for four, hold for seven and out for eight,” Wander’s breathing finally slowed down after a few attempts. “That’s great Wander almost there,” Wander had finally calmed down but was drained of any energy that they might have previously had. “Let’s go sit down on the couch,” Virgil said to Wander, “Roman could you put on a film, Patton could you make Wander a warm drink.”
“I’ll make one for each of us all,” Patton said unsure of how else to help Wander and Virgil.
“I will also help with that,” Logan said as not to feel useless in the current situation.
Once Virgil had helped Wander along to the living room and helped them onto the couch. Roman had set up the tv and the DVD player and was just about to start the nightmare before Christmas as it was getting to the colder part of the year.
As they were set down, Wander clasped into the soft pile of pillows that were on the couch. staring off into a corner of the room Wander wasn’t even taking in what the others were saying.
“How did this not happen?” Deceit asked slipping back into his normal speaking. “What couldn’t have happened to cause this?”
“I don’t know. They could have been overwhelmed by something or that their mind got stuck on one thing and their thoughts spiraled. It might have been any combination of factors,” Virgil explained having the most idea of what happens to someone who is having a panic attack.
“Why it happens doesn’t matter at this time. We can figure things out later. We just need to help them relax and rest.” Remus chimed in so that they all could calm down. Remus and Deceit were also just about used to panic attacks from Virgil and how to help him.
As everyone in the living room piled up onto the large couch, Logan and Patton came in with a tray each with hot chocolate and different types of snacks that people may want. Such as crips, chewy sweets, the rest of the cookies after Patton remembered how much Wander liked then to try and help them feel better and even a bar of the deodorant that Remus liked that was really white chocolate nougat in the shape of deodorant.
Setting the trays n a nearby coffee table. Patton and Logan handed them to the others ready in postin on the couch. “Hey kiddo,” Patton said trying to get Wander’s attention. It had taken a minute for them to register that Patton was speaking to them.
“Yeah,” they replied slowly in a quiet voice as not to be too loud.
“Do you want some hot chocolate or a cookie or something else,” Patton asked to go get it for them.
“Don’t worry about it Patton I don’t want to be a brother.” Wander said thinking back to their earlier thoughts, and how much trouble they were causing for everyone around them.
“Wander,” Patton paused to think of the best wording that they could, “no matter what, you will never be a brother for any of us.” and as Patton finished speaking everyone else nodded in agreement. Remus was doing this too but to him, he was also trying to see how fast he needed to move his head before his neck snapped or if he even could do that at all.
Wander through this over for a moment and then replied, “The hot chocolate, please,” Wander’s eyes wandered over to the tv. The film had started playing and Roman and Remus were singing along to the opening song. While they were doing that Remus was thinking up ideas to prank or scare Roman, themed around the nightmare before Christmas.
Patton went over to the tray and grabbed the hot chocolate for them. When Patton gave Wander the drink, they didn’t reply. This caused the sides to look at each other in concern apart from Virgil. Who even though he loved the nightmare before Christmas hadn’t taken their eyes off of Wander. As if to see for any sign of panic or distress coming from the newest and youngest acting side. Which said something considering that Pattn acted like the youngest most of the time.
Climbing on top of the couch Patton curled up for another movie night all together as a family.

Logan at this time was reading a book in the living room because everyone was busy with something else. The book that he was reading was about space and he didn’t need any help with anything. So when Wander finally found them, they saw that they didn’t need help with something. So Wander did what, Wander did best sometimes, which was asking questions. “What are you reading about Logan?” they asked.
Normally Logan would be annoyed about getting interrupted from reading but wander didn’t know that, and it was not like they were interrupting for the sake of interrupting. They were asking a question that Logan would love to answer.
“Well Wander, it is about the formation of stars in the early universe,” Logan explained wanting to continue explaining but waiting to be asked for more information. He hoped that he was asked more about it. Which was exactly what happened.
Wander sat down on the couch next to Logan. “Could you tell me more about it?” they asked wanting to learn more.
At this Logan’s face lit up into a bright smile like the stars he was about to start describing. At the beginning of the universe, it was mostly just hydrogen and helium gas. Which under the force of gravity as the clouds of gas got closer and closer together. Which then collapsed to form the first stars. When the stars die they can die in a few different ways. Large stars use up their fuel and die in an explosion called a supernova. Middle-sized stars like the sun with becoming a white dwarf and small stars last the longest and become red dwarfs. They can live up to 100 billion years.” Logan finished explaining.
“That’s a really, really long time.” Wander said back.
“Yes it is, humans find it very hard to comprehend how long that really is.” Logan was about to continue explaining more in depth but was stopped by a large series of different noises and sounds coming from down one of the halls. “Well, that will be Roman and Remus causing some sort of trouble,” Logan said as he went back to reading his book.
“I’m going to find them and see what they are doing,” Wander said out loud to anyone in the room, which was just Logan.
Wandering out of the room into the hall from which the sound came from. Wander realized that the hall that they were walking down was the one leading to Remus; and Deceit’s room. Slowly opening the door as not to be caught in the middle of something that the twins were doing. As Wander looked inside they were almost hit in the face with a pie that looked like it had teeth in it from the quick look that they had gotten. Suddenly another pie did just hit them in the face. Luckily this one had no teeth in it but apple slices in it.
Everything froze. It was so quiet that you could hear Logan talking in the kitchen about the science of how the ingredients in the cookies that Patton had made earlier as most of the pie fell off of Wander’s face they saw that the state that the room was in. It Had been transformed into a playing room but with different types of pie scattered all about the room. Remus suddenly burst out laughing because, one it was so, so funny. Two, it was even funnier because it had been one of Roman’s pies that had hit them.
Roman started to apologize but Wander started laughing along with Remus which had confused Roman. “It’s ok Roman,” Wander said between laughing. Remus had now rolled on to his back, howling with laughter as the sound in the room got louder and louder. Seeing this Roman joined in as well.
Once the laughter had died down mostly. Remus stood back up and Roman looked over to Remus, giving him a look.
“Fine,” Remus whined as he set the room back to what it was before their pie fight had happened. While doing this the mess of the apple pie on Wander’s face was also cleared away.
“What were you two even doing?” Wander asked still confused of how and why this had happened.
“Well, Remus wanted to throw things that fell apart when they hit something Roman answered.
“Well, Roman wanted for us not to do any damage to anything,” Remus said after Roman had finished speaking.
“Ok then.” Wander paused thinking of what to say next, “Patton made cookies. They should be cooled down by now, do you guys want to go get some to eat?” Wander asked the boys.
“Sure,” they both replied at the same time. Wander went back out of the room. Followed by Roman and then Remus. Roman soon took the lead to the kitchen.

Wander was suddenly awakened by a loud crash coming from the kitchen. Rubbing the tiredness from their eyes. They stood up and headed to where the noise came from. The scene that greeted them was Patton picking up a tray of cookie dough off the floor, after having accidentally dropped them. Patton then turned around to see Wander while still holding the tray in the red and white oven gloves that were wrapped protectively around Patton’s hands. “Oh hi kiddo, how long have you been awake?” he asked.
“Not long Patton,” they said trying and failing to stifle a yawn.
“Oh dear, I woke you when I dropped these.” holding out the tray of uncooked cookie dough.
“It’s ok Patton. Don’t worry about it.” Wander said back to Patton as they yawned again. Then Wander opened the closed cupboard to look for something to eat.
After looking through the second cupboard, Patton asked: “What are you looking for Wander?”
“I don’t know pacifically, just something to eat.” walking over to the fridge and opened it. Patton realized that they were going to need to tell them what to have or else they would keep looking for something that they are not going to find.
“Could you grab the milk out of the fridge and pick a box of cereal you want to eat,” Patton asked after putting the tray in the oven, and then taking a bowl out of another cupboard and placing it on the table.
Wander then put their shreddies in the bowl then the milk. Once that was done put everything back where it belonged. Patton set the chicken timer to 10 minutes. The timer was a gift from Remus as a sign of goodwill. The only problem instead of a normal buzzing it made a loud blood-curdling scream giving Patton an incentive to keep an eye on the timing. now because of the timer, Patton almost never burnt anything that they made. Patton grabbed a spoon out of a draw for Wander since they still didn’t know where everything was and still didn’t know their way around yet.
“Thank Patton,” Wander said as Patton handed them the spoon. Then Wander sat down at the table and went to eat their breakfast. It was at this moment Roman and Remus came running into the kitchen out of breath.
“What are you two doing now?” Patton asked casting an unsure of what the answer from them was going to be. Remus slowed down enough to answer.
“Well I and Roman are coming up with ideas for a story and Roman is letting me help if I try and not make any ‘bad stuff too graphic’ Roman said, so bye.” Remus finished as he ran to catch up with Roman.
Patton sighed to himself, “those two are always  running about with new ideas.”
“I think that they are both really nice.” Wander said staring off into space after they finished their breakfast. Now there was only one minute left on the timer, so Patton picked it up and stuffed it into the draw with all the tea towels in it.
Patton put the oven gloves from earlier back on and opened the oven to get the cooked cookies. As he pulled them out there was this quiet screaming sound of the timer going off. Placing the tray on the top of the cooker to cool. Patton now took the silent timer out and put it back on the countertop.
“Why don’t you go find Logan and help him with something. I need t stay here with these,” pointing to the cookies, “so that Deceit doesn’t go and steal them all as soon as they have cooled enough to pick up and eat without burning their mouth.” Patton finished.
“Does Deceit steal the cookies that you make often?” Wander asked curious to find out about the people that they live with more.
“Only if I let them,” Patton answered. And with that Wander stood up and said: “I will see you later Patton I’m going to try and find Logan, like you suggested, bye.” Then they walked away out of the room. ‘ Now how do I find Logan’ Wander through to themself as they wandered into the living room looking around the room they found no one there. ‘Oh well never mind. I guess I will go to my room.’ as they forgot what they were previously going to be doing.
They followed along their corridor until they got to their room and went inside. They soon once again found the pictures that they had first found when they had gotten the room. Wander didn’t know how they had ended up there but they were there anyway. Flicking through them, Wander saw images of a small Roman and Remus playing together, they looked really happy.
Another was what looked like Patton learning how to bake a cake. The next was the same cake but had candles on it and a very confused Logan in the middle of talking to the person taking the picture. The last one was pf Patton, Logan, Roman, and Virgil all together, happy but lurking in the background was Remus and Deceit unseen by the others.
“I wonder when these happen. Some of them must have happened a long time ago” Wander said out loud to themself. They had a strange feeling that these pictures were going to be important in the near future. Putting away the pictures in a safe place, Wander decided that the deer that Remus had given them needed a name. Taking one of Remus' other suggestions for their name. Wander designed to call them frost. Looking into the shiny plastic eyes of the deer, it seemed that frozen snowflakes had formed in theirs.
It was at this moment that Wander remembered that Patton had asked if they would help Logan if they needed any help. So leaving frost the deer on their bed, Wander left the room to go to search for Logan.
