(Afternoon April 13, 2023) The Missouri Attorney General just used an Emergency Rule to ban all gender-affirming care for people of all ages (yes, adults) in the state.

In order to receive any care, transgender minors and adults alike will have to:

have 3 years of documented “severe” dysphoria

18 months of state-mandated conversion therapy

have zero mental health conditions, most specifically anxiety, depression, or autism

require tests for “social contagion” for 15 years after beginning care

This will cut TENS OF THOUSANDS of trans people off of medical care. Please care about us, oh my god.

A new strain, dubbed Arcturus (XBB 1.16), is becoming prominent in India, and “an infantile phenotype seems [to be] emerging”. Pediatric cases are on the rise with a new symptom: conjunctivitis, more commonly known as “pink eye”.

XBB.1.16 is a recombinant of two descendants of so-called “stealth Omicron” BA.2. A preprint study updated Sunday from scientists at the University of Tokyo suggests that it spreads about 1.17 to 1.27 times more efficiently than relatives XBB.1 and XBB.1.5, also known as “Kraken,” which currently dominates U.S. cases.

XBB.1.16’s increased ability to outpace other variants suggest that it “will spread worldwide in the near future,” researchers wrote, adding that the variant is “robustly resistant” to antibodies from a variety of COVID variants, including “stealth Omicron” BA.2 and BA.5, which surged globally last summer.

White middle class and upper class just have absolutely no fucking idea about what it's like to be working class and have no intention of actually putting in work to help those less privileged than they are; they don't want to hear about the struggles that the working class, especially working class people of colour, face because they'd rather live in a world where everyone "plays nice" with them instead of actually addressing issues like gentrification. they'd rather ask questions like "well, why don't you get a better job?" instead of addressing the lack of jobs that are available to working class people and why the only jobs available are ones that pay shit. they'd rather paint the working class as terrible, spiteful, violent than admit that they're scared of losing their wealth and privileges because it means they'd have to become "lesser" - why do you think so many middle class people can't take a joke directed at them? why do you think that they don't want to hear about working class struggles and would rather ignore and bury it, especially when it comes to people of colour?
