So I've decided when I make a journal comic I'm no longer going to post them here on this tumblr. Going forward I'll be posting all autobio comics up on my main tumblr (@ghostcarpress) . So go follow me there if you haven't already.

Election Night
This election result really fucked me up (as it has a lot of/most of us). I haven’t drawn anything really outside of a few random doodles for almost a full month now. No comics, no art, no nothing. It was just too painful. The depression just built and built and built.
We’ve all been dealing with this in different ways and taking different amounts of time to do it. I took a long time. But it’s been a month. Time to dust myself off. Time to pick up the pen again. Time to get back to work. I’m ready to do this.
I was planning on finally moving away from journal comics and auto-bio work. Move away from slice of life type stuff. Try my hand more in fiction, especially sci-fi and junk. But that horrible Tuesday changed all that. Now I’ve gotta make these journal comics to work through everything so I can get my head on straight again. To try to make sense of this horrible world we now live in. I mean, I’ll still try the fiction stuff I was planning on doing, but I have to do these first.
Even though I wasn’t drawing for a month, I have been writing and taking notes. I wrote a lot. How many of those scripts and notes will I turn into comics? How frequently will I make and post them? I don’t know. But at least enough to fill up a minicomic with.
For now I’m going to make some of these comics dealing with my thoughts and emotions during the month after the election. We’ll see where we go from there.
More to come…

Guess That 15 Hour Drive Was Worth It...
So I won a DINK Award for Best Minicomic/Zine for my latest mini Laffy Meal. I’ve never been up for awards like this, so it was a big deal for me. And super emotional too.
I shoulda done this sooner (I’ve been running behind on so many things lately), but to celebrate my win, use the code DINKY2016 when you check-out on my online store to get 10% off your total order! Lots of minicomics and art up for sale. I’ll keep the code active until mid-May.
Order your copy of the award-winning Laffy Meal today! I’ll include a ‘DINKy Winner’ sticker with each copy while they last.

The Road to DINK...
Hey there. Long time no see. I have a LOT of journal comics that are in various stages of near-completion from the last half-year but never got around to fully inking or posting. Maybe I’ll go back and do that with some of them. And then maybe do a few more going forward.
Basically I just wanted to try out some new pens that I got.
Maybe I can do these once a week or so. We’ll see.

OH MY GLOB! Adventure Time: Ice King #1, first of a six-part miniseries by @boomstudios, comes out TODAY!!! And I wrote it! AGGHHH!!! Read a preview of the first issue here.
Story by the wonderful @empartridge, written by yours truly, and art by the amazing @natalie-andrewson! Such an honor to work with these two.
I’m like a proud papa with this comic and I hope you like it and can’t wait to show off the remaining five issues.
So get to your local comic shop (or wherever you buy digital comics if that’s your bag) and buy a copy TODAY!
Cover art above by Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb.

You should all go vote on my Threadless submission! Only four more days!
Tumblr media
My submission to @threadless‘ Adventure Time challenge is up for scoring!
So go score it!
Oh my Glob! Use this t-shirt to recreate the scene from the episode “May I Come In” where Marceline, Finn, Princess Bubblegum, and LSP take shelter inside Jake from the evil Hierophant! No traditional vampires will enter your torso as long as you’re wearing this stylish tee (unless you foolishly invite them in).
So go score it and tell your friends.

In Two Weeks...
Don’t mind me, just about to turn thirty and I’m freaking the fuck out. But thankfully I can work it out through comics, which is way cheaper than therapy.

just let it in.
This moment has been weighing heavily on my mind for a few weeks now. So much so that it finally forced me to get it down on paper. So here it is.

LOST MONSTER CEREALS: DAY 8
Eye Scream: Ice cream flavored cereal with ice cream cone and eye ball shaped marshmallows. Introduced 2011, discontinued 2011.
Eye Scream is a more recent Monster Cereal and is a perfect example of the problem with any new Monster Cereals that have hit the market in the last decade. These new monsters rarely last more than a year.
Many cereal scholars theorize the problem is two-fold. They argue that any new Monster Cereals to hit the market lack any sense of nostalgia that helps keep the brand alive (and the current ‘big three’ coming back every year) and that since Monster Cereals are now seasonal the new cereals are never given enough shelf-time to get the current generation of cereal eaters attached to the cereal/character.
Not to say Eye Scream deserved to last more than one year. One strike against it was the new over-stylized box art for the brand (which many Monster Cereal purists to this day still disavow), many remembering the ‘Boo Berry lip-gate’ fiasco from the previous year. Many cereal conspiracy theorists believe that Eye Scream was given the same exact wonky shaped Boo Berry lips as a not-so-subtle ‘screw you’ to all the very outspoken critics.
Strike two against the cereal was that there was nothing really ‘ice cream-y’ about the flavor profile. It resembled more of a very bland vanilla than anything.
The final strike was the very unsettling sickly yellow color that it turned the milk afterwards.
But with the current trend of when new Monster Cereals are introduced these days, whether the cereal is good or bad, they seldom come back for a second year.
Eye Scream, for those curious enough to actually try it, can still sometimes be found at stores with more lax attitudes on food expiration dates.

INKTOBER LOST MONSTER CEREALS: DAY 0
I’m finally trying my hand at inktober this year and for my theme I’m going to do ALL 31 LESSER KNOWN AND LOST MONSTER CEREALS! That’s right, we all know the big five, but everyone forgot about the monsters who got lost to the sands of time over the past few decades (but to be fair some of them deserved that fate).
I’ll be posting the finished inks over on my instagram and then be throwing them up here on tumblr once I color them. And then all original art will be for sale online as they are posted, if you are into that sort of thing.
So join me on this weird and spooky trip down cereal history lane…
And tell your friends. Boo Berry loves it when you tell your friends.

PRE-ORDER MY NEWEST MINICOMIC LAFFY MEAL NOW!
My latest minicomic project, Laffy Meal, will be making it’s debut at the Small Press Expo next month (table M2). To help with printing/travel costs I’m putting my latest minicomic Laffy Meal up for pre-order for folks who can’t make it to the show!
Laffy Meal follows a family as they go eat dinner at the local Burger Clown, each book being told from a different family member’s point of view. The down on his luck dad (the burger) just trying to do right by his family, the angsty teen (the fries) with a chip on his shoulder, the single-minded kid (the toy) who only cares about what Laffy Meal toy he’s getting, the at-the-end-of-her-rope mom (the drink) who struggles to keep this family together, and the dog (the ketchup packet) who stays behind in the car (window cracked, of course).
Laffy Meal will include five screen-printed and hand-assembled minicomics served up in a screen-printed Burger Clown bag. It’s just like a real fast food meal, but better, because it’s comics and not nearly as greasy!
As a pre-order bonus, one or two (or more) lucky people who pre-order will get an original page of art from Laffy Meal! Winner and page of art will be chosen at random.
Laffy Meal will ship out early October 2015.
So pre-order it! Pre-order it now! (Unless you’ll be at SPX, in which case come get it from me in person.)
And if you can help spread the word that would be awesome! Again all money is going to go towards printing and travel costs. Toner and flights ain’t cheap, sadly.
