I hate my birthday.
Let me rephrase that.
I have how every year on my birthday, I tell myself it's just another day, don't get too excited, I get overly excited and when nothing lives up to the expectations in my head, I'm left feeling disappointed and like Noone actually cared enough to go that extra mile for me, while at the same time hating myself because I'm the only one who set up those standards in the first place.
I've come to understand now that part of my love language is gift giving and it just sorta stings when I feel like I almost always go above and beyond for my like partners or my friends, and it feels like I get the bare minimum in return.

I’m reading this book and the main character was like describing her nemesis or whatever and she’s like “he’s a white cishet man” in his list of negative attributes and I understand it’s supposed to be a quippy lil thing and all but the irony is that the main character herself is white and cishet, as is her love interest. So what did we gain here? A few woke points? Like I don’t really understand it tbh woke white folk creating distance between them and other white folk simply doesn’t do it for me the irony is a bit strong
