A Big Witchy Guide on Palmistry
Palmistry shows how your entire life is mapped out in the palm of your hands. Even Julius Caesar used palmistry to help him make decisions. The future is read in your right hand and the past in your left hand. The hand revealing your past gives information about the inner you and the influences in your life when you were growing up.
The history of palmistry dates back thousands of years and has been spoken of in the Hindu scriptures and the old testament. Palmistry most likely originated in China or India and was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans. Philosophers astrologers, alchemists and theologians studied the art of palmistry. The Romani also adopted palmistry and it was used in fortune telling. Palmistry became a serious study for scientists and scholars who considered palmistry to be a valid and accurate science. Palmistry is also known as Chiromancy.
Your entire life and can be read with incredible accuracy, all information about you is contained in your palm such as your strengths and weaknesses as well as your past, present and future. Each person has a unique palm, no two are the same, according to palm readers, the shape, texture and lines contain everything about the person’s life. A palm reader will examine the entire hand, including fingers, nails and back of the hand. Police will often use fingerprinting in their work and this could be seen as a practical use of palmistry.
Your hand has four dominant lines, fate, head, heart and life lines. The size of your hands, the length of your fingers and thumb, is taken into consideration. If one of your lines is missing, your fate line for instance, this is not a sign of foreboding, it actually means that you will have many changes in life and adapt well to them, you will be one on your own, you will be unique. Whether your fingers are close together or spread apart reveals what kind of employee you will be, those with fingers close together tend to be more stable in work than those with splayed fingers. Although do not be alarmed if you have splayed fingers it just means that during your life you may well find it worthwhile to consider carefully before making any changes in your work environment.
LIFE LINE
The life line is the curved line around the padded area located at the base of the thumb, do not be perturbed if there is a short or broken line as it doesn’t mean an early death. The life line actually reveals the quality and the vitality of your life. A life line that is deep denotes fewer problems than a line that is fine and difficult to see, the difficulties of life are easier for the person with a deep set line to cope with and they are usually more resilient mentally, emotionally, and physically. If the life line is deep and red is shows a more aggressive personality. The life line is often joined to the head line which runs parallel. The point of separation between the heart line and head line reveals when you became independent from your childhood home. If there is a faint line within the life line this is called the line of protection. Breaks in the life line show times where there are challenges.

Uses of Moon Water
Moon water – water that has been charged by the moon – has several uses in Witchcraft and magick. Many people charge their moon water in the light of the full moon, but it can be created during other moon phases as well. Like with spellcasting and rituals, the full moon is often seen as the most powerful time to charge your moon water. However, you might also charge your water to fit correspondences of other moon phases, too! And of course, you might also try to time charging your moon water based on the time of year.
Below are some general ideas about how you might decide to use your moon water.
Uses of Moon Water:
Energising, cleansing, and charging crystals – moon water is great for cleansing and empowering crystals! You can place your crystals in a jar with some moon water, to help amplify their energy. Make sure to check your crystals can be placed in water, though! Some crystals aren’t safe in water.
Bathing and cleaning yourself – you can add some moon water to your bath, or use some moon water to wash your hands or face as a cleansing ritual, blessing, or bath magick.
Drinking moon water – take a couple of sips of moon water each day to empower yourself with the moon’s energy. If you choose to drink your moon water, make sure you use spring or distilled water when making your moon water and keep it in the fridge. You could even use some moon water in your coffee or tea!
Making potions, cleansing sprays etc. – utilise the power of the moon and its correspondences to enhance your potions, or use moon water to make a little cleansing spray to use in your room or home.
Watering your plants or adding some moon water to flower vases – you might decide to water your plants with moon water, as a way to enhance your connection with them. You could also add some moon water to your vase of flowers.
Making fragrances or perfumes – you could also use your moon water to make perfumes or fragrances, to amplify your intentions or as part of a glamour spell!
Representing the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals on your altar – you could place some moon water in a container and put this on your altar, as representation of the Goddess and/or your intentions and goals.
Diffusing moon water in your home – you could place some moon water in an aromatherapy diffuser with your choice of essential oils, to help clear the air and enhance the effects of the oils you use.
Thinking about moon phases and correspondences:
As I mentioned before, you might want to think about your intentions and timings of when you charged your moon water. For example, May’s Full Flower Moon is often associated with love, health, and romance. So, water charged under May’s full moon might be useful in empowering crystals associated with love or the heart chakra, or enhancing spells related to compassion, love, romance, healing, and self-acceptance. Similarly, you might think about the season you charged your moon water, and what kinds of associations this season has for you.
Remember – the important part of any ritual, spellwork, or magick is your intentions, and what this means for YOU. My list is non-exhaustive – there are so many possibilities of what you can do! The important thing is to do what feels right for you personally.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Blessed be <3

How Magic Works
These are just some of many different theories about how spells work. For anybody who really enjoys “magical theory” like I do or is looking for validation that there’s something to all these weird spells! None of these serve to discredit magic, but rather add a deeper level of understanding to it. The success of a spell could be credited to more than one of these, or something else entirely!
Law of Attraction. Basically, the idea that you attract what you focus on. A popular example is focusing on the color red, and seeing how much red is around you that you didn’t notice before. This is most effective for spells involving personal matters and success, by formally opening your eyes to details and opportunities you may have missed otherwise.
The Placebo Effect. It’s a proven fact that our bodies can heal ourselves merely by belief that what we’re doing helps! This can extend beyond health spells to things like confidence, performance ability, and other things that aim at personal improvement. The placebo effect may be all that spell needs to be successful ( and it wouldn’t have happened without the spell!)
Direct cause/effect. Something about the spell and the way it was cast directly affects the outcome. Example: a sigil designed for protection, when looked at, serves as a constant visual reminder that you are protected, subconsciously strengthening your wards.
Science/chemistry. This is most true for kitchen witchery and herbalism. Chamomile, lavender, and other herbs aren’t corresponded with calmness and sleep for nothing… they’re made up of chemicals that have been scientifically proven to calm the nerves and aid in sleep!
Quantum physics. There’s a phrase called “Quantum Woo,” where people use quantum physics (often incorrectly) to explain any type of magical thinking or practice. While the ultimate theory behind quantum physics was recently disproven, the discoveries made through research still hold true. Basically, we know particles behave differently when observed, and our energies can effect this. We just don’t know why that is. This is the baseline behind a lot of energy work.
Divine string pulling. Ask and ye shall receive. This is where we depart from the physical to the spiritual side of magic. Many people do magic by appealing to divine forces, Mother Earth, God(s), the Universe, whatever you want to call it. This could be with an offering, a ceremony, or even just bedside prayer. The divine force hears the request, and grants it by affecting change and “pulling strings” to cause the desired outcome.
Spiritual string pulling. Very similar to the previous point, but with entities that are not worshipped or seen as divine. Many believe that spirits can still affect change “behind the scenes.” A spirit worker may make a deal with a spirit for luck or protection, or someone may ask their ancestors for good fortune and health.
Personal string pulling. Instead of asking an outside entity, this is the idea that we, as the practitioner, pull the strings. This is most seen through the “cone of energy” method of casting, where we raise a lot of concentrated energy and intent in a space, then release it all at once to do its thing. You also see it with sympathetic magic, where by doing something to a poppet, we actively affect that change on the target. No middle man included.

A Crash Course in Warding
Let’s just start a series of crash courses in witchcraft, since sometimes we need to learn things the quick and dirty way. Today, let’s talk about wards.
What are wards? Wards are protective energy barriers. They keep things out. You can place them around your home, certain rooms, even on certain objects. With practice and clear intentions, you can focus the wards to block out everything or only certain things. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Why should I ward my space and my things? Wards can keep out all sorts of things you don’t want in your home. They can block out negative entities, wayward spirits, mischievous entities, demons, and (if you’re really good at what you’re doing) even gods. Some people ward their divination tools so they know there are no spirits tampering with the results.
So what do I need to do first? Cleanse. This is very important. Wards are kind of like walls, or perhaps more accurately, bubbles. If you don’t clean the space first, you might trap things inside your ward bubble. You do not want that. There are lots of methods of cleansing, from burning sage to spritzing oil-infused water. Find a method you’re comfortable with and cleanse everything you’re going to be warding.
I’ve cleansed my home/item. Now what? Now we ward. I’m going to give you a couple methods. Let’s start with my favorite, incense warding.
Incense warding can also be done with spritzes of water/essential oil blends or herb-infused water if you can’t have smoke in your space. Whichever you’re using, you want to have a blend of protective herbs. Bay leaves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, and salt are some great options that you can find in the grocery store, no fancy witch shop necessary. If you’re using incense, make sure you’re using natural incense and not super cheap stuff that’s artificially scented. The magic is in the herbs, and you won’t get that from fake scents.
How to Incense/Spritz Ward an Item
Smoke or spray item.
Visualize the smoke or spray clinging to the item and wrapping around it like a tight blanket, protecting it from anything that would cause harm (or interference, etc.).
How to Incense/Spritz Ward Your Space
Pick a place to start. I always start at my altar, but it’s up to you. If you’re doing multiple floors, start either at the top or bottom floor.
Moving continuously to your right, smoke or spray along the walls and door frames. As you go, imagine a barrier being formed around the walls, ceiling, and floor, pushing outwards to fill the room. Visualize the smoke or spray forming the barrier to keep out anything that will do you harm. [If you have a hard time with visualization, you can simply focus on the intent of the smoke or spray keeping things out.]
Keep moving right, following the layout of your home, making sure you get all the closet spaces. You basically want to outline the entire area you’re protecting, whether it’s you’re room or your whole house.
For multiple floors, repeat on each level.
For big layouts where there are rooms in the middle, go around those rooms as well.
I like to reinforce the wards over outside doors, windows, and mirrors. These are all passages of sorts, and when I reach them, I use the incense to draw a pentagram in the air over them. This is entirely up to you.
You’re done when you’ve reached the point where you began.
So why do we go to the right? Is that important? Kind of. Going to the right is like going clockwise. It’s about making things and progression, where going to the left or counter-clockwise is about deconstruction or reversal. [I read this idea in a witchy book a long time ago and will try to find a source when I can. If you honestly don’t feel it makes a difference, do whatever you’re comfortable with.]
Can I place wards that keep out certain things but not others? Sure. When you’re going around your space/warding your item, your intent is what’s important. I like to ward out entities that mean harm - it’s nice and general and doesn’t keep the fae out. Some people might want certain spirits and not others. Have your intentions clear in your mind as you place your wards.
That’s neat and all, but what are some other ways to ward? Let’s list a few.
Symbol/Sigil Wards
Choose (or make) a symbol or sigil that has protective properties. I’ve done this with Pluto’s astrological symbol because I worship him and it’s my way of being like, “Hey, Pluto. Please protect me, kthanxbai.” Pentagrams are nice and basic witchy/pagan symbols if you like them.
Draw the symbol over doors and windows. You do not literally have to draw it. It can be in water, incense smoke, or just your finger against the surface if you want.
As you’re drawing, make sure you have your intentions in mind - that nothing harmful can pass through this door, that the windows remain closed against entities, etc.
Energy Bubbles (if you have control over your energy)
Pick an item - any item.
Get your warding intentions in mind.
Channel lots of energy into the item. Visualize it emanating from the item in a bubble to fill your space.
If you’ve got mad skillz, you can form the bubble to the walls and be super exact with where its barriers are.
Vocal Wards
If you like spoken (or thought) spells, come up with a small chant to protect your space.
You can repeat this chant as you focus on your item being protected or as you walk around your home, protecting every room.
This is really great to incorporate into basically any other form of warding and gives your magic an extra bit of oomph.
I’ve heard wards can “fade” over time. True or false? Wards are just energy. Like all energies, they can disperse and weaken over time, or if something particularly nasty puts effort into destroying them. Redo your wards every so often (I do mine every few months, but it’s up to you), and especially before spiritual interactions. I also like to do mine after I’ve had lots of company, to kind of clear out family’s lingering energies and reinforce what I don’t want in my house.
In general, the intent of your wards is the most important part. Know what you want to keep out. This concludes our crash course on warding. Now go forth and protect some stuff!

Witchcraft for the Chronically Fatigued
Fatigue looks at things such as tiredness, drowsiness, exhaustion, weakness, lethargy and memory issues and says “I can do all that and more!”. It leaves you feeling utterly trapped in your own body; unable to move, or even think at times. It fluctuates, but is always looming.
While this post is open for all, it is written for those who truly relate to this all-consuming feeling (due to ME/CFS, other chronic illnesses, mental illness, or undiagnosed causes). Not all of these may work for you, but hopefully they inspire something that will. For general low energy witchcraft, check out my Bedridden Witch Series!
As always: witchcraft is to be used in addition to proper medical care, treatment and medication; not as a sole alternative.
To draw energy:
If you cannot produce your own, magically created will be just fine!
Crystals.
I tend to use clear quartz for an energy boost, but trust your intuition; if something calls to you, it’s for a reason.
Keep it near your bedside table, under your pillow, hold it in your hand or place it on your body where you feel the fatigue most strongly centered.
When on the go, carry it in your pocket or wear as jewelry. If it is larger, carry in a bag and hold it when you need it.
Charge using a charging board or the elements.
Crystals for fatigue
Waters.
Physically touching water brings me energy. I keep jars of snow, rain, storm, river, stream (etc, etc.) water and will dip my fingers in it and mark that parts of my body where the fatigue feels strongest. Be aware of pollutants and do not ingest!
The same method can be done with tap water (or water charged under the sun or moon)
Drink sun water or sun tea (start with drinking safe water and let it absorb the energies of the sun).
Some people find moon water to be energizing (same process as above, just with the moon).
See also: Bedridden witch: Bath edition.
Other elements.
Note what is energizing to you and what is draining to you. Consider: the sun, moon (and it’s phases), weather (rain, overcast, snow, storm, wind), cold vs. hot, the earth, fire, air, etc.
Once you find which elements are energizing to you, find ways to incorporate them into your life. Examples: jars of different waters or soils, rocks collected from places, candles, and more.
I usually draw energy up from the earth by placing my palms flat towards the earth by the sides of my body. So if I was lying down, my arms would be at my sides with my palms facing down.
Expose yourself or protect yourself. I’ll use my personal experiences as an example here… Rain often energizes me. When it rains, I’ll open my windows, and if I’m able I’ll step outside or collect some water. On the flipside, full moons often drain me. I’ll close my windows and curtains, hang an extra blanket over my bedroom window, use water to paint protective sigils on the window and increase my wards.

Practicing the craft with energy limitations:
Tips and tricks:
I highly recommend preparing things when your energy allows, so it’s always ready to go when you need it (and isn’t dependent on current energy levels).
Cleansing: Let other things do your work for you. Open your windows/get fresh air, steam or smoke, sound, etc. Bedridden energy cleansing.
Divination: Use apps when physical movement is hard. One card spreads, shorten your pendulum so you don’t need to lift your arm, divine using the elements, etc. Bedridden divination.
Spells: Make your own spell kits. Spell jars and sachets are also an excellent way to already have the spell prepared, set it up so you can simply shake it to re/activate the spell.
Warding: Create physical ties for your wards that aren’t reliant on consistent upkeep (as a failsafe), and reinforce your other ward layers when you have the energy. I create far more layers than I need so when I am unable to reinforce them, they still protect me.
Worship: Compile prayers and devotions somewhere you can easily find and read them, have a wall altar for easy maintenance, keep offerings simple (a glass of water, for example). Bedridden worship.
Many more tips and tricks in these posts:
Bedridden witch series (masterpost of all my current bedridden witch posts, including some that weren’t linked here!)

Celebrating Beltane in Quarantine (Quaran-tane)
Aw, man! We're in the middle of a pandemic but a sabbat is approaching! What the heck are we gonna do??? Let's take this step by step...
Some traditional Beltane practices
Bon fires
Flower gathering
Nature walks
Dancing around a May Pole
Sexy time
Volunteer work
Jumping broomsticks (or fires but just promise me that you'll be careful)
Washing your face with morning dew
Making Beltane bread
Colors, incense, flowers, and all that good stuff
Red, white, green, purple, yellow
Fertility symbols (eggs, antlers, seeds, things that look like ding-dongs)
Spring flowers - daffodils, hyacinths, forsythia, daisies, tulips
Flower crowns
Summer/spring fruits - cherries, mangos, strawberries, etc
Incense - patchouli, jasmine, frankincense, rose, (one of my roommates last year got one that was just labeled "Sex incense" I don't remember what all was in it, but it was great for beltane!)
Crystals - Emerald, Malachite, Amber, Orange Carnelian, Sapphire, Rose Quartz
"I want to celebrate Beltane, but because of quarantine I don't have..."
The correct incense - Solution: Use whichever one is closest or whatever you're feeling that day. The universe will still recognize your efforts
Any incense - Solution: Look through your herb cabinet, research each one, & try burning some herbs either in a cauldron or another safe location.
Flowers - Solution: If it is safe/legal in your area, go for a nature walk & pick up any fallen petals or flowers you may find on the ground. If it is not safe for you to go outside right now, try your hand at drawing the desired flowers for your alter/decorations or just print out pictures from the internet. It's the thought that counts.
The traditional colors of candles or clothing or ribbons or ANYTHING - Solution: Just use white, it's all the colors & therefore can serve as a replacement for anything.
The right crystals - Solution: Clear quartz can work as a substitute for any other crystal. If you don't have that or if you don't have *any* crystals at all, it's okay. You don't have to work with crystals to be witch.
Any fruit - Solution: Try out an online shopping service (I use Imperfect Foods) you can also use canned or frozen fruit in a pinch.
Access to the outdoors - Solution: Set up your alter in a windowsill. Open all the windows of your space. Take some vitamin D. Practice fire-safety when lighting candles. Jump over a broomstick instead of a candle or bonfire.
Have a bonfire - Solution: Use a candle as a substitute. Extra small bonfire.
Have a May Pole - Solution: Hang ribbons on a tree or stick!
Have access to ribbons - Solution: You can use thread, yarn, or strips of fabric if you want!
And finally, a section I feel is important to add:
Quaran-tane for the Broom-Closet Witch
I understand this has to be an extremely difficult time for you and your practice. You know better than anyone what's safe for you to do and what isn't. You can implement as many of the above suggestions as you feel comfortable doing. You know what's best for you. I'm not going to sit here & give you tips on hiding your practice or sneaking outside or anything like that. You do whatever feels right for you. Instead, I'm gonna tell you some things I feel it's important for you to remember during this time:
Your safety & wellbeing need to come first.
You're still a witch even if you're in the broom closet.
You're still a witch even if you don't celebrate the sabbats
If all you feel safe doing is lighting a candle, then you light that candle & don't let anyone tell you that your celebration isn't "good enough."
You won't always have to hide who you are.
Thanks so much for reading all of this! Stay safe out there & have a blessed Beltane ❤💚💜💛

✨Yes/No Tarot tips✨
Here are some ideas to help you answer those pesky Yes/No questions using Tarot. These are just ways that I’ve found work for me and Yes/No card interpretations that have always given me the answers I seek. Sometimes, this varies from reader to reader, so use this as a springboard to find out what works for you!
If you pull a Yes card in reverse, it could indicate a “Yes, BUT…” or a “Yes, IF…”. You’ll need to understand what each card means in reverse to determine the caveat for a reversed Yes card.
Pay attention to the positive meanings for each No card. Sometimes, things aren’t as clear cut as a simple No. Sometimes, it becomes a “No, but…” and gives you clues about how you can change your No into a Yes.
If you pull a Maybe card, you can often get a feel for your options either way by drawing additional cards to go on either side. For example: Two of Swords is a Maybe card and often represents a difficult choice between two options. You can draw two cards to set on either side of this card that represent the two choices and their pros and cons.
YES
Major Arcana: Fool, Magician, High Priestess, Emperor, Empress, Lovers, Chariot, Strength, Hermit, Star, Sun, Judgement, World
Cups: Ace, two, three, six, nine, ten, page, knight, queen, king
Pentacles: Ace, three, six, eight, nine, ten, page, knight, queen, king
Swords: Ace, page, knight
Wands: Ace, two, three, four, six, eight, page, knight, queen, king
NO
Major Arcana: Death, Devil, Tower, Moon
Cups: Five, eight
Pentacles: Four, five
Swords: Three, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
Wands: Five, seven, ten
MAYBE
Major Arcana: Hierophant, Justice, Hanged Man, Wheel of Fortune, Temperance
Cups: Four, seven
Pentacles: Two, seven
Swords: Two, four, queen, king
Wands: Nine

dried citrus peels
magickal powders
small crystals
gem chips
essential oils (a drop or two will go a long way)
infused oils (carrier oils such as olive or grapeseed oil that have been infused with herbs)
a few drops of charged water (storm water, war water, sea water, holy water, rain water, moon water, sun water, etc.)
paper (with sigils / symbols / glyphs drawn on it, an incantation, a name, a phrase, etc.)
coins
beads
glitter or confetti
seashells / shark teeth / beach sand
leaves
DNA (finger nail clippings, a piece of hair, etc. to be used as a taglock)
animal fur, nail clippings, teeth, or whiskers***
nails, glass, pins, needles, thorns, & other sharp objects (great for cursing, binding, banishing, or protection)
vinegar, lemon juice, pickle juice (mostly for “souring” a situation)
honey, sugar, syrup (to “sweeten” a situation or for attraction)
pretty much anything that fits & corresponds to your intent
what you should avoid putting in a spell jar:
fresh herbs or plant material (this can cause mold to grow inside of the jar)
biological secretions (i mean, you can if you want but it’s not necessarily sanitary & there are cleaner, more easily obtained taglocks to use instead)
what spell jars are good for:
containing your spell, theoretically making it easier to manipulate & control
manifesting goals/intentions over time
manifesting goals continuously
passive manifestation that doesn’t require much ongoing participation from the caster
what to do with your spell jar once it’s been crafted:
keep it on your altar
depending on the intent of the spell, keep it in a different area that you frequent (for glamours, keep it in the bathroom; for sleep or dreams, keep it in the bedroom; for safe travels, keep it in your vehicle; for cursing, keep it concealed in a black box; etc.)
wear it around your neck
put it in your pocket, purse, or backpack
bury it in your backyard or within a potted plant outside (for spells you don’t plan to undo or want to last indefinitely)
if burying is not an option, hide it somewhere on your property
leave it at a crossroads
recharging spell jars:
shake it up
light a candle on top of or next to it
submerge it in a bath of herbs or crystals that are associated with energy
submerge or surround with sea salt (a natural conductor of energy)
anoint with oil / blessed or charged water
pair with a tarot card or rune stone that matches your intent
suffumigate with incense smoke
energy work & visualization
disposing of & reversing spell jars - when you feel like the spell has done its job or you need to undo its effects:
do not throw the entire jar into an open flame - this is incredibly dangerous
remove the contents from the jar & either burn them or bury them
for items you wish to save, cleanse them thoroughly before using them again
take the jar & cleanse it in whatever manner you choose & either save it to be reused; or shatter it & then dispose of it properly
***please practice safe & ethical harvesting when it comes to using parts from a living animal in your craft; don’t ever trim whiskers off of your pet (if they come out naturally then it’s okay to use them); routine grooming is a great way to obtain some of the things i mentioned; you can use the baby teeth that you inevitably find when your puppy or kitten is teething, also!
