Escaping the Palace
Sir Leon x Reader
Authors note: It’s certainly been a while since the writing bug has visited me. Merlin has always had a place in my heart and Sir Leon is a long standing crush of mine. I hope you enjoy this short story. Sending you all love and well wishes in the new year.

Y/N had just about heard enough of her father’s dreary remarks on trade relations and her brother’s training. How it was coming along ‘just marvelously’ and ‘how he was more and more proud of the man he was becoming each day.’ Well, maybe that last part was a bit of a stretch. Surely Uther would never be able to state such a thing out loud to his oldest child. But the sentiment was clear as crystal to everyone at the table, except of course Arthur who, ever confident in front of everyone but their father, failed to grasp what wasn’t spelled out right in front of him.
“Tomorrow I want you to join me in the village.” Uther took a long sip of his wine before continuing. “I’d like for you to come with me to meet with the blacksmith tomorrow. I want to see about new equipment for the knights.”
“My Lord,” Morgana tilted her perfect, milky face in confusion. “You never see about those things personally, why now?”
“Leave it to you to question the king.” Arthur retorted with a sneer.
“And-“ Uther continued as if he hadn’t heard either of them. “It wouldn’t hurt for you to have some new armor made. Tourney season is only a few months away and I intend for Camelot’s Prince to continue his reign as champion. There can be no mistakes made, especially in your gear.”
It wasn’t uncommon for Y/N to exchange a knowing look with Morgana from across the table. Although the two were not sisters by blood they almost always knew just what the other was thinking. As Morgana’s striking emerald eyes met Y/N’s more muted ones, it was obvious they both knew that Arthur would be over the moon.
Arthur nodded his blond head earnestly.
“Of course father.” Y/N tried not to laugh. He always tried to be so stoic in front of their father but a hint of a smile still appeared at the corner of his mouth. “I look forward to it.”
“Father, might I be able to come too?” Y/N piped up before she could stop herself. “I promise I won’t get in the way, but it could be fun to get out of the palace.” Uther was shaking his head before she could finish.
“Absolutely not.” His eyes were hard and unwavering. “It’s no place for a princess.”
“Besides, you'd find it terribly dull.” Arthur added.
“I wouldn’t! I’d love to do something different, it wouldn’t matter what it was.” She argued back, her freckles standing out against the flush of her cheeks.
“Please, you couldn’t stand missing your 4 hour bath.”
“That’s not-”
“Enough!” Uther slammed his goblet down. “Y/N, your place is here and that’s final. Now, can we please finish our dinner in peace?”
“Of course Father.” Said Arthur.
“Yes Father.” Y/N begrudgingly returned her gaze to her plate.
Once all bickering was finished, the evening passed by uneventfully and Y/N found herself wishing she was anywhere else as her maid, Gwen, readied her for bed. She was dressed in a satin, pink nightgown that graced the floor as she walked. Her hair was washed with rose oils and set in curls to be unfurled in the morning. Yet she still wanted more.
After bidding her goodnights to Gwen she set to work. She wouldn’t be obedient. She wouldn’t be the perfect princess, it was all too hard an image to maintain. She wanted to be without restriction. To be as wild as she wished. To be beyond what she could imagine within the palace walls.
The castle was quiet at night. Only a few hallways were lit and guards were stationed only every so often. And since Y/N knew it all like the back of her hand, it wasn’t too difficult for her to find herself in the laundry rooms. Finding a simple frock in a plain brown, rather than the jewel tones she was used to wearing, was easy enough. ‘I’ll return it in the morning.’ She told herself. Finding her way out of the castle walls and into the night was even easier. Their current state of peace in the kingdom made the castle guards more inclined to a drink or two, making it all too easy for the princess to slip past them unnoticed.
The streets of Camelot were alive with lights and laughter. The castle’s early night had no impact on the townspeople, who were only just beginning their evening. Y/N did her best to hide her curls beneath her veil, afraid of being recognized. But the city paid her no attention. Women laughed and smiled as they skipped down the cobblestoned streets in groups. She saw a couple sneak a kiss under an archway, her cheeks flared in embarrassment, or was it envy? Either way everyone seemed to be making their way to a brightly lit tavern down the way. Lively music flowed from the doors and windows and Y/N found herself itching to dance, a smile covering her face.
The inside of the tavern was almost achingly hot, the warmth of the fire reaching every corner of the room. The seemingly endless number of people didn’t help, bodies pressed firmly against one another as everyone tried their best to reach the bar. Y/N was almost knocked to the floor as a boisterous man and his partner shoved past her, yelling for another round.
“Miss, are you alright?” A tall stranger reached out his hand, pulling her back to her feet.
“Yes, quite, all thanks to you.” She blushed even harder. It was undeniable the man was handsome. Sharp features framing deep eyes, his dark locks accentuating his marble skin, it was hard not to lose one’s breath. His look was only of concern.
“I don’t believe I’ve seen you here before Miss-”
“Mirabel.” Y/N swiftly lied. “And no, it’s my first time. I’m not usually one to be out this late.”
“Well Miss Mirabel.” The handsome stranger grinned. “I would be most honored to buy you a drink this evening. After all, it’s not every night I’m blessed to escort a lady such as yourself.” Y/N was overwhelmed. Usually the men she met were too intimidated by her title to offer her such chivalry.
“That would be lovely, Sir-” She paused with a flirty grin.
“Florian.” He swiftly kissed her hand.
“Sir Florian.” She smiled. ‘Keep it together, you’re only here for the night.’ She told herself. “I would definitely love a drink”
“Right away Miss Mirabel.” He turned away with a flourish, the crowd seemingly parting around him. Y/N pushed her way through the almost endless number of people to find an empty table to sit at. The people seemed to be dancing on air, their spirits as light as the ale they drank. She couldn't help but be influenced by their joy, a giddy grin taking over her face even before Florian had returned with two dangerously full mugs.
“These aren’t too strong are they?” Y/N asked, taking a cautious sip. Florian just laughed.
“Of course not, as long as you have a tolerance. Don’t you?” He asked pointedly with an unmistakably wicked grin.
“Oh of course.” Y/N lied. She’d never had more than a glass or two of wine at state dinners. “This should be nothing.” She took a large gulp of the bitter liquid, expertly masking her disgust. The ale burned her stomach and made her head spin in an irresistible way. She wanted more. Before she knew it she’d polished off her glass and was asking for another, and Florian was all too obliging.
Soon she was spinning under the candlelight without a care in the world. Florian’s arm strong around her waist. His sultry voice whispering sweet nothings in her ear. And Y/N was too high in the clouds to care much what he said. Only that he was seemingly kind, handsome, and paying for her night of freedom. She hardly noticed when his fingers began to dig harder into her arms, red marks making their way onto her skin. Only when his lips pressed firmly against her collarbone did she speak up.
“If you would excuse me, I think I need a moment.” Her head spun. She’d never been touched like this. And although she was certain she was supposed to like it, she wasn’t all too sure that she did. Florian was a handsome man, and seemingly kind. But his touch made her feel guilty, almost sick to her stomach. She knew she had to get away.
“What, so soon?” His strong hand gripped her wrist tightly. “Darling, the night’s just beginning?”
“I do apologize.” She feigned a smile. “I just need a moment’s rest. I’ll be back before you know I’ve gone.” She lied, keeping her eyes on the door. The hand on her wrist tightened painfully.
“I’m sorry my dear, I’m afraid I just don’t believe you.” He smirked, his eyes sharpening. Y/N cursed herself internally. ‘This is why Father never lets you leave, this is why Arthur never brings you on his adventures.’ She scolded herself as Florian began to pull her towards the door. Unlike her brother, Y/N had never been trained in combat. Which was becoming increasingly clear as her attempts to kick and pull away gave her no advantage to the much larger assailant. Just as she was about to be dragged out the door, someone stepped into their path.
“Excuse me, but I believe the lady has no interest in going with you.” Y/N would have recognized him anywhere. Deep golden curls, perfectly sculpted cheekbones, that devastatingly stern look in his ice blue eyes.
“Sir Leon?” Y/N gasped. Florian only tightened his grip.
“Apologies, but I don’t believe you’ve any idea what the lady does or doesn’t want. Now if you’ll excuse us-” Florian was stopped by a firm hand on his shoulder.
“I’m afraid it wasn’t a suggestion.” Leon responded with a stoney glare, his other hand now settled firmly on the gilded hilt of his sword. Y/N’s heart stopped. Surely he didn’t mean to draw it? Her nausea worsened at the thought of Sir Leon needlessly engaging in combat due to her inability to control herself. Thankfully it was unnecessary. Y/N let out a breath she wasn’t aware she was holding as Florian’s grip vanished and he melted back into the crowd as seamlessly as he’d first appeared. Her relief didn’t last long however, as Sir Leon lowered his gaze to meet her’s. “Princess” He all but whispered. “Are you unhurt?”
“Yes, I- I’m alright.” Y/N answered, all too aware of Sir Leon’s large hand that now gently gripped her elbow. She couldn’t tell if it was the ale or his touch that sent heat radiating through her body, her cheeks most certainly flushed, her pulse fast and unsteady. She only hoped he wasn’t picking up on these tells as he glanced over her, confirming that she was, in fact, safe.
“Then I would be amiss if I didn’t tell you how completely reckless this was.” Y/N shrunk a bit at his stern look. “What were you thinking? And coming here, of all places? Anything could have happened to you.”
“I just-” She struggled to find her words. “I’ve never seen the city, and everyone’s always so careful around me at court. I wanted to see what it would be like if I weren’t royalty, if I didn’t have to be so proper all the time.” His gaze softened as he let out a deep breath .
“I’m just relieved you’re unharmed.” He held out his arm for her to take, always the gentleman. “I should take you home.”
The cold air bit at Y/N’s cheeks as they walked silently down the now empty street. She tried not to stumble too much but she was finding it difficult to hide her state of inebriation. Being so uninhibited she couldn’t help but peer up at Sir Leon’s handsome features. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t noticed him before. She’d whispered to Morgana about the attractive new member of the kingsguard on more than one occasion, but she’d never been so close to him before. She’d never been so close to any man save her father and brother once she thought of it, save for- the memory of Florian’s painful grip digging into her waist flashed back into her mind. Suddenly embarrassment simmered in her chest. How ridiculous that Sir Leon was having to end his night early because of her stupidity. When she spoke she felt as though she’d rather have crawled under a rock than be imposing on him in such a way.
“Sir Leon, I must apologize.” Her feet halted as her words hung in the air. Confusion clouded his face.
“Whatever for, Princess?” Y/N took a breath before answering.
“For ruining your night! I’m sure you were having a perfectly pleasant evening before having to rescue me. And now for having to leave early because I don’t know how to look after myself.” She sighed, shoulders slumping. A hint of a smile tugged at the edge of Leon’s mouth.
“Your apology is unnecessary. Truthfully, I’d been playing cards and was about to lose an awful lot of money before I noticed your predicament.” Y/N couldn’t help but laugh. “Really it was you who saved me.” His smile now beaming across his features as he continued leading them closer to the castle. “But still. Your apology is accepted.” Y/N breathed a sigh of relief.
“Well good, I wouldn’t be able to bear it if you were upset with me Sir Knight!” She giggled as she took in their surroundings. “This isn’t the main entrance?”
“I don’t imagine you want the whole court learning of your adventure do you?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. Y/N blushed.
“I suppose you’re right.” She stopped as they reached an archway that Y/N knew led straight to the kitchens. “Thank you, Sir Leon. For saving me, and for the company after.” She smiled up at him.
“You are most welcome, Princess.” He smiled back.
Of course he wasn’t letting her wander the castle halls alone at night. While the castle was well guarded, Leon was all too aware of how dangerous characters could make their way past their defenses, and he wasn’t taking any chances with the princess’s safety. They moved silently through the empty halls, Leon making sure to avoid any active patrols, and before Y/N knew it they were approaching the door to her quarters.
“This is where I bid you goodnight, Princess.” Leon spoke softly, his golden eyelashes nearly obscuring his cerulean eyes. Y/N couldn’t bring herself to break his gaze. Her heart began to pound again as she noticed how his lips were gently parted, how his skin glowed under the candlelight. ‘How soft his lips must feel.’ She wondered absentmindedly. For a moment she thought she saw his pulse pounding beneath the alabaster skin just below his jaw. ‘Does he feel this heat as well?’ The question slammed into her without warning. And before she could be stopped by her clearer judgement that the ale had banished to the back of her mind, she found herself on tiptoes, pressing a gentle kiss against his stubbled cheek. Maybe it was the lowlight, but she could have sworn she saw warmth flush his cheeks.
“Goodnight, Sir Leon.” She all but whispered. And before she could do anything even more reckless, she tiptoed into the luxurious solitude of her bedroom, and closed the heavy door behind her.

Request: Anonymous
Your day had been dreadfully boring as you sat through meeting after dull meeting. It had been going on for hours as King Peter and King Edmund were doing their absolute best at negotiating a trade meeting with the Archenland ambassadors. The details of said treaty were being being meticulously critiqued until King Edmund could no longer hide his boredom. You were very tempted to humor him but since you were simply the maid on hand to make sure that no one went hungry during these meetings you had to stay silent, even though you were courting the younger king.
As the minutes passed Edmund let out a great sigh, causing Peter to shoot him a disapproving look. Edmund simply shrugged his shoulders and stood up, making the terribly old ambassadors look up at him in shock.
“As much I do enjoy writing a good treaty, 4 hours of it can be a bit taxing.” He said with a sly grin. “Might I suggest we all take a quick recess? That is if it’s alright with you Peter?” He smiled brightly at his older brother in amusement. Peter simply nodded curtly, eager to look as professional as possible for the Archenland ambassadors.
“That’s a good idea, let’s take 30 minutes to just relax and stretch our legs.” That was all Edmund needed as he quickly took you by your elbow and the two of you hurried out of the room.
The both of you giggled as you rushed down the marble hallway, Ed’s strong hand gripping yours.
“Did you see the look on their faces?” He laughed “I don’t think anyone’s interrupted them since they were our age.” You grinned at him while trying to cover his mouth.
“Shush! They’ll hear you!” You tried to hide your amusement.
“No way.” He told you as he led you onto the balcony overlooking the sea.”They’re all so old and deaf I doubt they even know what we were discussing!” He wrapped his arm around your waist when he noticed how entranced by the view you were. “Would you like to go for a quick swim?” He murmured, his mouth just grazing your ear.
“But you’ll be soaked for the rest of the meeting!” You whispered back.
“I don’t mind, do you?” You thought for a moment before coming to the obvious answer.
“Not at all.”
Before long the two of you were racing to the shore, your shoes and coats left long behind. When you reached the surf neither of you hesitated before crashing into the icy waves. Luckily it was the middle of the summer so the cold water felt incredible on your skin. You looked down at your dress was now dripping wet, Edmund looked the same.
“The head housekeeper’ll be so angry with me!” You laughed.
“And Peter will be just as cross with me,” Edmund agreed. “I don’t care though.” He said while getting closer to you. “You know why?” He asked you as his hands just barely brushed your waist.
“Why?” You asked, leaning in even closer, willing his hands to grip you tighter.
“This.” He leaned in almost touching his mouth to yours before quickly dunking you under the waves. You laughed and sputtered as you came up for air.
“Oh now you’re in for it!” You shouted before splashing water directly into his smug face.
Soon it turned into an all out war. Salt water was flying, the two of you were screaming and laughing and sand and salt filled the air before finally a truce was called.
“All right! All right!” Edmund chuckled as he continued to be doused. “I yield!”
“So I win?” You grinned as you ceased fire.
“You win.” He smiled. He looked you over thoroughly, making sure to notice how your gown clung to your curves and how the salt water on your face made your skin glisten in the sun. He took a moment just to take you in, all your beauty and happiness.
“You are truly beautiful Y/N.” He spoke sincerely “Your beauty rivals any princess in the land.” You blushed under his flattery and firm gaze.
“I am no princess Ed.” You answered shyly.
“No.” He said thoughtfully. “Not yet.” He took your face in his hands and kissed you softly, making you oh so aware of how his strong shoulders felt when you gripped him and how his soft breath on your skin warmed you to your very core. And in that moment, under the warm Narnian sun, all was well.

Roman Holiday
Hey everyone! I recently watched Audrey Hepburn’s Roman Holiday with my mom and I was inspired to do a little spin off! I haven’t written in forever so I’m a little rusty but I hope you all like it and as always requests are open and I would love some Christmas themed ones!
-Lera
Y/N was the princess of Calormen, and she was reminded every day. It was a good life to lead, she was beautiful, adored by all, wore beautiful clothes and went to extravagant parties, but it wasn’t enough, it would never be enough. Y/N reflected on this as she lay in the canopy bed that she was sleeping in while she stayed in Narnia. Her father had sent her here for a few weeks so that she could work on trade relations and become more familiar with Narnian customs and their Kings and Queens. All she was ever allowed to do was be perfectly friendly, perfectly beautiful, perfectly accommodating, perfect everything. She had never once had a day to herself in her whole life. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It must have been Mrs. Sakari, her caretaker.
“You may enter.” Y/N said clearly. Sure enough Mrs. Sakari slipped through the doorway holding her trusty planner.
“Good morning Princess Y/N, I hope that you slept well.” “Well enough as expected in a strange bed.” Y/N answered with a yawn.
“Well I’m sure you’re ready for the day because you have a long one. Their Royal Highnesses are anxious to meet you since we arrived too late to dine with them last evening so in thirty minutes you’ll be having breakfast in the great hall with them. Then at 9:30 you’ll be given a tour of the palace and at 10 o’clock you will have a meeting with High King Peter to discuss the trade relations between our countries, I’m sure you’ll remember to be polite and gracious to him.
“Yes Mrs. Sakari.” Y/N answered obediently as she took notice of the clear blue sky outside her window. She could hear laughter outside, she wanted to know why they were laughing so happily and wished with all her heart that she would feel happiness like that.
“Princess, are you listening to me? At 11 you will be presented with a horse and you-” “Must I do all this today?” Y/N cut in. “It’s so beautiful outside it would be a waste to spend it indoors discussing trade.”“Your Highness, you have responsibilities, your father-” “Oh what does it matter if I spend one day without worrying about Calormen? Besides this High King Peter sounds like a terrible bore, especially if he insists on being called that.”
“Your Highness, now don’t be difficult. I’m going to fetch you a hot cup of tea which should lift your spirits and bring you to your senses. Why don’t you put on your navy gown while I’m gone, it’s very sensible.”
“Yes Mrs. Sakari, I’m sure a cup of tea will help me feel better. Could I please have peppermint? It’s my favorite.” Mrs. Sakari laughed as she neared the door.
“Your Highness peppermint always puts you to sleep, I’ll bring you black tea so that you have enough energy for the day.” As she closed the door behind her Y/N gracefully stepped out of bed. She was sick of being told what to do, what to wear and how to act.
“I will certainly not wear my navy dress as it it terribly dull.” She said to herself as she opened up her wardrobe that the servants had hung her gowns in. “Hmmm that won’t do, too fancy, too boring too, ahh perfect!” She said as she pulled a silvery gown that resembled moonlight. The gown was beautiful with a sweeping graceful skirt and wide bell sleeves. “Yes this will do.” She smiled as she quickly slipped off her white lace nightgown and pulled on the gown. She then stepped into a pair of dainty slippers, took a moment to fix her beautiful h/c hair and ran to the window. Whoever had been laughing before had gone. Y/N thought to herself for a moment how she was going to do this. Below her window about 6 feet was a balcony and below that a garden. Taking a deep breath she steeled herself for what she was about to do. In a moment of bravery the princess stepped up onto the window sill, took a deep breath, and jumped. She did not land as gracefully as she expected, she was in a position she had never been in before, sprawled out on the floor with her bare legs exposed. She quickly looked herself over, making sure she hadn’t been injured before standing up and looking at the next jump she would have to make. It looked a little farther than the first which scared Y/N a little bit. But when she began to hear voices down the hall she realized that it was now or never. “Alright Y/N you can do this.” She told herself as the voices got nearer. She climbed up on the railing and just in the nick of time jumped over before a pair her servants from Calormen walked by where she had just been standing seconds before.
Below on the grass Y/N took a deep breath. Slowly she stood taking in her surroundings. She was outside of the palace and in the daytime it was quite beautiful. White marble with turrets that glittered in the sunlight and reflected blue from the ocean below, it looked something out of the fairytales Y/N read about as a little girl. Shaking those thoughts away she decided to go into the forest. She always loved nature but she was rarely allowed to explore and play so this was the perfect opportunity.
Soon the young princess found herself surrounded by pine trees that towered above her and swayed in the wind. Of course she had heard the stories of the magical trees in Narnia that could talk but her father said that was all nonsense. But as Y/N stood surrounded in natural beauty she felt as if she could almost hear voices just beyond her reach, but the harder she tried to listen to them the quieter they became. Y/N happened upon a small stream just as she began to feel a bit thirsty.
“If only I’d thought to bring some food along.” She said to herself before drinking from the stream. The water was clear and ice cold and it woke her up, refreshing her spirit. However her solitude was interrupted by a young man’s voice.
“I haven’t seen you here before miss.” Y/N immediately jumped up, spilling water on herself in the process as he got off his horse.
“I, ah” She stuttered before remembering the tales of forest and water spirits that walked the Narnian forests. “I’m a spirit of these woods, most people can’t see me.” She spoke quickly with a small smile when she noticed how handsome the stranger was. He was tall with thick dark hair that perfectly framed his equally dark eyes. He grinned at her response.
“So you’re a woodland spirit yes?” He asked raising an eyebrow. Y/N stood up straighter.
“I am.” She answered him with confidence knowing she had to stick with her lie.
“Well then it’s a pleasure to meet you, my name’s Edmund.” He took her hand and gently brushed his lips across her knuckles all while looking into her eyes. Y/N had to keep herself from gasping. She had been kissed on the hand many times before but never had it felt so, intimate. All she wanted was to know more about this man. “Is this something you do often my lady?” He asked her with a smirk.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” “Well just that you’re deep in the woods all alone, I can’t help but be a little worried.”
“Well…” Y/N started, “This is actually my first time in these woods.” She admitted. “And probably my last.” “Your last? What do you mean?” he asked her with caring eyes.
“Well, it’s just that…” Y/N thought carefully about her next few words, she didn’t want Edmund to know that she was a princess in case he treated her differently or worse, took her back to Cair Paravel. “I’m visiting from a long ways away and I won’t have another chance to see the landscape here. So you see I must explore.” He grinned at her brightly.
“Well if you’re looking to explore, I know these forests very well and I would be honored if you would allow me to be your guide.” He offered his hand. Y/N paused for a moment before deciding that she could trust him, there was just something about him but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Trusting that he was safe she took his hand.
“I would like nothing more Edmund.” He led her back to his horse and gently helped her up. Although Y/N had ridden horses many times and did not need the help, she was more than happy to feel his strong arm around her waist. When they were both seated and she had her arms firmly around him he clicked his tongue and the horse began cantering.
“Well my lady, where would you like to go?” He asked her.
“You know the area well you said?” She asked him again.
“Better than I know myself.” “Then take me to your favorite place!” She grinned against his back.
“You heard her Phillip!” Edmund told the horse.
“To the beach then Your M-” Edmund kicked him the side. “Edmund.” Philip corrected as he began galloping in a different direction.
“Did you just talk?” Y/N asked with amazement in her voice.
“That I did miss.” He told her gruffly. She quickly shook off her surprise.
“Well it’s so very good to meet you Philip. And thank you for being my guide as well.” She gently put a hand on his smooth flank.
“The pleasure is all mine miss.” The ride went by quickly, Philip was so fast that the trees seemed to fly by them and soon the glittering Eastern Sea came into view. The trio stopped beside a cliff and Edmund dismounted and helped Y/N back onto her feet.
“Philip can’t make it down to this beach so it’ll just be us.” Edmund told her as he led her to the edge of the cliff, which turned out to not be a cliff, but instead a narrow winding staircase that led to the sand below.
“That looks quite dangerous Edmund.” Y/N told him as she looked down the steep staircase that they would soon be descending.
“Don’t worry my lady, I won’t let you fall.” He told her confidently.
“Oh I’m not afraid! I’m excited.” She smiled at Edmund as she took the first step down. “Aren’t you coming?” She asked him from a few steps below. He simply laughed and smiled before following her.
“You are very surprising my lady.” Soon they reached the end of the stairs and Y/N immediately kicked off her slippers and dug her toes into the cool sand. The wind whipped her h/l hair around her face and she smiled as she watched a group of gulls squabble over a crab.
“It’s beautiful Edmund! I see why this is your favorite place.”
“I always feel very at home here.” He told her with a twinkle in his eye. “Like it’s where I’m meant to be and that I’ll be here forever.”
“I wish I had a place like that.” Y/N confided as they strolled towards the crashing waves. “Even when I’m at home it doesn’t really feel like it, I feel like there’s more I’m supposed to do? Am I making sense.”
“Perfect sense.” He answered with a faraway look. “I use to feel the exact same way before I found this place.” “The beach?” Y/N questioned. Edmund shook off his dazed look.
“Yes, the beach of course.” He smiled again. Suddenly Y/N had an idea.
“This will probably sound crazy but do you want to go for a swim?” Y/N asked
“It does sound crazy, the water’s freezing!” He laughed “And wouldn’t you ruin your dress?”
“I have lots of dresses Edmund but I’ve never swam in the ocean in my whole life!” Y/N giggled as she stepped into the surf. She bit back a gasp from the cold and waded in deeper. Looking back at Edmund she motioned for him to join her.
“Oh all right.” He grinned before rolling up his trousers. When Edmund came into contact with the water he didn’t bother holding back his shock. “Aslan that’s freezing!”
“Oh it’s not that bad! It’s quite refreshing really!” Y/N shivered.
“You’re crazy!” Edmund laughed as he joined her in the deeper water. Y/N responded by splashing him. Soon it turned into an all out water fight and before they knew they were both soaked and dragging themselves back onto the sand laughing.“Now that was a really bad idea!” Edmund grinned.
“Fun though!” Y/N responded with a smile.
“Most fun I’ve had in months.” He admitted.
“Most fun I’ve had ever.” Y/N sat down on the sand, her silver gown beyond repair. Edmund sat down next to her and she leaned her head on his shoulder.
The pair sat in silence for a moment as they watched the tide recede. When somehow as if drawn together like magnets the pair looked at each other and slowly leaned in, their lips millimeters apart. The tension was almost unbearable when suddenly Y/N pulled away. She wanted more than anything than to press her lips against his but she couldn't. She was a princess, she had responsibilities. And one day her father was going to marry her off, probably to King Peter or some other king, prince or duke. There was no way she would be allowed to be with Edmund. He was no king, as much as she longed to be with him. Her country had to come first.
“I’m sorry Edmund, I have to go.” She said as she stood up.
“Have I done something wrong?” He asked as he stood. “I’m so sorry, I was being too forward. Let me take you home.”
“It’s all right, you didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just…” She paused for a moment, his warm brown eyes almost breaking her reserve. “I really have to go but please don’t think that you did something wrong.”
“Alright.” He said with a smile that didn’t quite meet his eyes. “Where should I take you?”
“Just back to where we met please.” They rode back through the forest in silence. Soon they reached the stream where Y/N first laid eyes on Edmund. Always the gentleman Edmund helped her dismount.
“Are you sure you want me to leave you here?” He asked with concern in his voice. “It’ll be dark soon I don’t want you to get lost.”
“I’ll be fine Edmund, but thank you for your concern.” Y/N smiled sadly.
“Alright then, only if you’re sure?” He asked again. Her heart swelled at how much he cared.
“I’m sure Edmund.”
“Will we meet again?” He asked taking her hand. “I don’t even know your name.”
“I don’t know if we’ll meet again.” Y/N admitted. “But I will pray that we do.” Leaning up on her tiptoes she kissed him softly on the cheek. She didn’t miss the blush that followed soon after. “Now go, if fate wills it I will see you again.” He solemnly mounted Philip and looked into her eyes a final time. And just as quickly as they’d arrived, they were gone.
Soon Y/N found herself back at Cair Paravel climbing back into her bedroom window where she found Mrs.Sakari waiting with her hands on her hips.
“Your Highness, would you care to explain where you’ve been all day? You missed all your meetings, I had to tell their highnesses that you had fallen ill! I have never been so disappointed in you. And look at your dress! You’ve completely ruined it!” She took a deep breath. “Now I’m going to send in your servants to clean you up and I’m going to tell their Majesties that you’ve made a miraculous recovery. When I return I expect you to look like the proper princess they will want to see, not this irresponsible girl who runs off on a whim.”
“Yes Mrs. Sakari.” Y/N answered sadly as she quickly left the room. It felt like her adventure with Edmund hadn’t even been real as the servants dried her hair and dressed her. Like it had just been a dream.
Queen Susan had requested that if Y/N was feeling well enough she would join them for dinner, so Y/N found herself entering the dining room. She took no notice of the beautiful decorations or the marble pillars surrounding the room but was snapped out of her haze when she made eye contact with a familiar pair of brown eyes. “Edmund!” She said surprised. Suddenly it clicked. “I mean King Edmund the Just.” She corrected as he smiled brightly.
“Just Edmund is fine.” His smile got even bigger. “And you must be Princess Y/N of Calormen. Or should I say woodland spirit?” He asked with a wide grin
“Just Y/N is fine.” She smiled. And in that moment it didn’t matter that his brother and sisters looked so confused, it didn’t matter that Mrs. Sakari looked horrified. All that mattered what that fate had willed them to meet again.

My weeks been pretty good, I made some new friends and I’ve been hanging out with them and my other friends so that’s been fun! I’m a little conflicted though cause one of these guys is really nice and really easy to talk to but also like he asked me a few really weird questions that I don’t really know what to think about but other then that I really like him? So I hope he just didn’t think before he spoke a few times and isn’t actually a creep but I guess we’ll see. As for upcoming projects I have a fred Weasley x reader fic coming up that I haven’t started yet but have some ideas for and will hopefully start on soon! I’m sorry I haven’t checked in with you guys though and I’m excited for this Fred prompt because il Fred so much. Thanks again for checking up hun! It really means a lot💖

Rainy Days
Edmund Pevensie x reader
Request: Maybe in that case then like a super fluffy one shot with Edmund x reader where they’re just kinda dancing in his room or something cute and she’s just kinda laughing and he’s being a dork and just yeah
A/N: Here it is dear! I really enjoyed writing this on a rainy day in my apartment (While Y/N’s not a big fan of the rain in this I personally love the rain and cold weather.) I hope that you like it hun! And to everyone, requests are still open!

The rain pounded relentlessly against the London suburb, the streets were devoid of life as everyone sensible hid inside their houses and spent the day wishing that the sun would return. Y/N Y/L/N was not exempt from this. When you awoke to dreary gray skies your mood instantly matched. In mid May you had been hoping for some sunny days, but instead your hopes had been matched with wellingtons and raincoats. Your boyfriend Edmund however, had the highest hopes of lifting your mood.
“Come on Y/N, you can’t sulk there forever.” He said gesturing to where you were perched beneath the window, looking out at the weather with a scowl on your face.
“Oh yes I can Ed.” You said shuffling further into your chair. “We were supposed to go to the park today! Maybe have a picnic too?” We were gonna have fun and now we have to just sit here.” You pouted. Edmund grinned as an idea came to him.
“Well, I mean we could just sit here and mope if you want to, but I was thinking,” He pulled you out of your chair and into his arms. “Why don’t we just picnic here?” He raised his eyebrow at you. You laughed and stepped out of his embrace.
“You can’t picnic at your own house Ed, that’s just called having lunch.” “No no, hear me out!” He grinned. We’ll set up a blanket fort and eat up here.” You had to cave when you saw his eager expression.
“Alright.” You giggled “You set up the fort and I’ll go make us some lunch.”
“Yes!” He grinned as he started pulling the sheets off the bed. “Trust me Y/N this’ll be even better than the park!”
“I’ll believe it when I see it.” You laughed as you started out the door.
When you returned with the sandwitches you’d made you were greeted by your boyfriend who had turned almost the whole room into a blanket fort. You could see his silhouette sitting right in the middle of it all thanks to the torch that he’d turned on inside. You kneeled down and crawled inside, bringing the food with you.
“See I told you it’d be cool!” This is totally better than the park.” He grinned.
“Alright it is pretty cool.” You admitted to him. “But one of us is totally gonna knock it down at some point.” You took a bite of your sandwich. “And if we’re being realistic, it’ll probably be you!” You playfully shoved his arm.
The two of you ate and talked until there was nothing left to eat and the two of you lay stretching on the floor.
“That was great Y/N, really thanks for cooking.” Edmund sighed, linking his fingers with yours.
“It’s no problem.” You gently squeezed his hand. “You know I love cooking for you!” He rolled over so that he was flush with your side.
“Have I ever mentioned how lucky I am to have you?” He asked sincerely. You pretended to think about it.
“Hmm, maybe once or twice.” You said while running your fingers through his dark hair. He laughed.
“I’m serious though Y/N, I love you.” You couldn’t keep the smile off your face when you heard his words.
“I love you too silly!” You kissed him on the nose. He smiled sweetly.
“Do I get a real kiss now?” He asked while leaning over your frame. You propped yourself up on your elbows, anything to get closer to him and shrieked when your arm hit a chair leg, causing all the sheets and blankets to rain down on the two of you. Edmund burst out laughing.
“And you said that I’d be the one to knock it down!” He laughed wholeheartedly. You couldn’t help but laugh out loud too at the state you both were in.
You both quickly took down what remained of the fort and sat down on his bed.
“Well now what?” You smiled at him.
“Wanna dance?” He asked.
“Ed there’s no music! And I’m a terrible dancer!” You said.
“We don’t need any music! And you can stand on my feet!” He answered confidently. “Come on.” He said standing up and holding out a hand.
“I’ll smush your toes.” “No you won’t, I can handle it.” He said pulling you into his arms and instructing you to place your feet on his. After a few seconds of that though he started to wince.
“I told you I’d smush your feet!” You giggled as you put your feet back on the ground. He just laughed as he twirled you around the little bedroom, the bad weather long forgotten.

Neville sat quietly at the Gryffindor table in the great hall. While his friends were chatting away happily, the brown haired boy stayed silent, his food untouched on his plate. He was seemingly staring off at nothing with an empty look in his eyes. Anyone else might have thought that he was simply spacing out but Ginny noticed her friend’s absence of conversation quicker than the others.
“Hey Neville?” She asked as she shoved his shoulder softly. No response. “Neville!” She said, this time a bit louder. He snapped out of his trance and turned to face the wide eyed girl sitting next to him.
“What is it Ginny?” He asked her. She laughed and brushed her long red hair off her shoulders.
“Where were you? You’ve been staring at nothing for 10 minutes Neville, what’s got you so distracted?” She said while glancing over to where Neville had been staring. He went bright red as her eyes landed on the Hufflepuff table. “Ohhhh” Ginny said knowingly. “It’s a girl isn’t it?” She said as his face turned even redder and he avoided her gaze. “Alright so it can’t be Megan Jones, she’s just got a boyfriend, maybe Hannah Abbott?” She glanced up at him, his expression unchanged. “No, not Hannah. Susan Bones?” She looked at him again but he didn’t respond. “Not her, maybe…” She looked a little to the left of Susan and noticed a smiling y/h/c girl with pretty eyes. “Is it Y/N?” She asked again and this time he shoved his face into his hands. “It is her! Oh I love Y/N! I have her in Transfiguration, she’s very nice. A little shy at first though. I’m sure you two would get along well!” She exclaimed. “Have you talked to her yet?” She asked.
“No.” Neville mumbled into his sleeve.
“Well why not?” Said Ginny, becoming a bit impatient. “She’s not gonna go out with you if you just stare at her you know.”
“I can’t do it.” He said. “She’s too pretty and I’d just make an idiot out of myself.” Ginny sighed and rested her elbows on the table.
“Well maybe you will make an idiot out of yourself. Or she’ll say yes and you’ll kick yourself for not asking sooner.” Around them their friends all started to get up. “Anyway, I’ve gotta go to Potions. Just ask her out though, what’ve you got to lose?” And with that the ginger girl sauntered off. Neville looked back to see where Y/N was but she was already leaving with Hannah and Susan. He noticed how bright her smile was as she laughed with her friends and thought a bit more about what Ginny had said. But after a moment he shook his head and started towards his next class.
Y/N walked out of the muggle studies classroom, a bit drowsy from the long lecture and decided to walk down to the courtyard so that she could do a bit of reading in her new book before she had to go to her next class. She was putting her notes into her bag while she turned the corner and had to jump out of the way to avoid the boy standing on the other side.
“Oh! I’m sorry, didn’t see you there!” She said as she looked up and noticed that the boy she’d almost run into was none other than Neville Longbottom, the boy her friends had been teasing her about for months. This was her first real interaction with him though, since Hannah and Susan said that pining from a distance didn’t count. A red tinge instantly covered his nose and cheeks.
“Oh it’s fine Y/N.” He said and then caught his breath when he realized he’d called her by her name. Y/N’s eyes went wide when she heard him and she smiled.
“How do you know my name?” She asked him, grinning brightly.
“Oh, I ah, er Ginny told me about you.” He stumbled out. “She said she has you in Transfiguration.”
“Yeah, she does!” Y/N answered. “I like Ginny, she’s funny, smart as a whip too.” They stood in silence for a moment, neither really knowing what to say to the other until it dawned on Neville that he hadn’t even told her his name.
“I’m Neville, by the way, Neville Longbottom.” He smiled shyly.
“It’s nice to meet you Neville.” She blushed “Well, I should probably get going.” Y/N said as she started to turn but Neville remembered what Ginny had said and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Actually Y/N I was wondering if- I ah just wanted to know if you er-”
“Yes?”Asked Y/N. Neville took a deep breath trying to organize his thoughts.
“I was wondering if you’d like to go to Hogsmeade with me on Saturday.” Y/N beamed up at him brightly.
“I think I’d like that very much Neville.” She answered him.
“Oh! That’s great!” He grinned. “So can I meet you in the Great Hall before we go?”
“That’d be perfect.” She said. “ Now I really should be heading to class, but I can’t wait to see you again!” She blushed.
“Oh, ok, bye then.” He said while standing stiffly, not really knowing how to end the conversation. Y/N smiled and stood up on her tiptoes, kissing him quickly on the cheek.
“Bye Neville!” She said while turning to go to her class.
“Bye Y/N.” Neville said more to himself. He stood for a moment somewhat in shock at what had just happened. He brushed his fingers across where her lips had just been and he smiled, excited to be able to plan the perfect date for him and Y/N.
