Ciriel the Record Angel
They say that once you die, there's a chance that you may find yourself inside a rudimentary elevator within a tall lattice structure that appears to go on forever and ever.
On that same platform you are on, you may also find an aloof girl wearing a tracksuit mixed with a maid outfit. She barely resembles an angel, but her features are functionally the same. The wings are thin crystals that float behind her. Her halo is a black disc which mimics a record. And beside it seems to be some sort of playback device or reader. Wires run through underneath the reader to her hair ornament that looks like a transmission tower. Perhaps the lattice structure you are in is one.
(Early reference sheet for Ciriel)
If you ask why she looks the way she is, she'll either shrug it off as she is just used to her look or she'll say that she never had time to fix herself properly.
Now, the button on her apron may intrigue you. If you ask what it means, she will give you a disgusted look and ask why haven't you heard of this formula. According to her, it is as famous as Einstein's formula for energy (E=mc²).
At this point, you might find her reusing phrase, "you know" (stylized as "yanow"), throughout your conversation with her. Her West Coast-ish accent rings in your head like a bell older than a medieval church.
After what feels like an eternity, you will be curious to ask what is her purpose. Her answer would be straight to the point: to guide you to the afterlife. But not the afterlife you may be thinking. It is where worthy souls are working hand-in-hand with angels like her.
Now what could this all mean? Well, her kind are semi-corporeal angels that store, manage, and modify important data. Most of which is stored in their halos which takes the shape of any spinning disc-shaped physical medium. In this case, she has a phonograph record. It is somehow able to store more than 10 minutes of audio at 33 1/3 rotations per minute on each side. In other words, that's no ordinary vinyl record. And with the reader, she is able to modify it while it is still spinning.
Back to this strange afterlife. She tells you that you are selected by the Guardians to oversee data (in this case, audio) within Lower Heaven's Grand Archive. Basically, you'll still employed even when you die.
(Ciriel pleading you to follow the Guardian's protocols.)
If you somehow oppose this and protest to her, she will do anything to make you accept the Guardians' call. After all, the Grand Archive receives insurmountable amounts of data and rarely gets new recruits. Not even the resident angels are able to keep up in this era of technological advancements. She even tells you that the Grand Archive's mainframe is yet to upgrade to a system similar to servers from the mid-90s. But if you make it through her anxious ramblings, the likes no angel like her had ever seen before, she may strike a deal with you... (OC under the Seraph Project)
Note from the Author: I've conceptualized the idea of angels with records as halos back in 2018. It went from an aesthetic look, to functional data-storing entities.
From a first glace, you may think they came straight from brake discs from the ones you see inside cars. That's a slight inspiration, but it's mostly from Audio Technica's Sound Burger.
(Audio Technica Sound Burger with a record inside it.)
Since then, I considered other disc media such as CDs, DVDs, Laserdisc, and other obscure discs such as the Philips Proto CD, MiniDisc, and the older 45 rpms and 33's and whatnot. Ciriel is based off "Ascension to Heaven" by xi. I tried to integrate the BMS's background animation into her design, hence the transmission towers and cables. The jersey maid appearance was a quick thing I made and it somehow stuck. I'll post her updated look soon.
(Screenshots of the Ascension to Heaven BGA)
P.S. This is one of the BMS songs that made me cry. And apparently it's in osu!, Cytus, Geometry Dash, and other rhythm games.

TBP Official Statement #1
Sometimes I think that my art is erratic and I never get some of my illustrations done. I don't think they're a waste of my time, but rather a way for me to explore styles even for just a while. It is NOT advisable for any artist to jump from one drawing to another. But if possible, you should trust your drawing until the end. One finished illustration is a step in the art journey. Doubt shouldn't be a reason for you to stop drawing. But if the problem is technical and you really need to start from beginning (like major perspective or anatomy errors), it's alright to drop it. From there, you're given the choice to start again or do another one.
Just whatever you do, do not give up.
As for me, I'm working on another drawing bc I dropped the previous illustration. Don't worry. One day, I'll make a proper drawing with the same topic.

Woke up, listened to Daft Punk's RAM, and decided to draw this WIP. Also, Julian's drip goes hard in the Instant Crush MV.
I'll cue up a Touhou char next and see what outfit and era I might choose.

An illustrated recreation of my dream where I was playing a Touhou stealth game and Satori was just reading my thoughts and roasting me irl.
None of what she said was relevant to the game.
I forgot to post this one here lol.

RPG Maker MZ practice concept, The Lorenko Project. A simple surreal and absurdist game about neighbors, chores, and waiting. I might be putting too much effort, but I want to familiarize myself with the plug-ins, mechanics, scripting, and asset creation. What I learn from here will help me in making a Yume Nikki fan game. Might accidentally abandon it if something goes differently in my life (I don't mean it in a bad way).

Elena Vivace sketch. Working on three (or four) projects at one because my interests teeter totter from one to another is terrible. I'm still proud of them though.
