Hiya, Im obsessed w how beautiful your ube challah are....could you by any chance share your recipe ?? I wanna try making it for my partner for purim ; v ;

OHH YES!! I am so excited for Purim.  I’ll type and post it so that anyone can use it, so it’ll be worded for someone who hasn’t made challah before!  Yields 2 loaves!  1-1/2 tablespoons yeast 3/4 cup + 1 teaspoon sugar  1-1/4 cups warm water  6 cups flour (or added as needed, for the consistency you like) 1/2 tablespoon salt  2 teaspoons vanilla  3/4 cup ube halaya (recipe for ube halaya here) 1/4 cup vegetable oil  2 eggs  Dye as needed, if you wish <3  Instructions: - Add water to the bowl with the yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar, let stand for 10 minutes until water is frothy. (If you choose to add dye, this is the easiest stage to add the dye, later on requires much more kneading.) - Add 1-1/2 cups flour, salt, 3/4 cup sugar and mix.  - Add ube halaya, oil, vanilla, mix,  - Add 2 eggs, 1 cup of flour, mix.  - Continue adding remaining flour. Often for me, the dough will be very dense before the first prove and unable to retain all 6 cups of flour! That is fine, I leave the extra flour in the bowl. It may feel unsatisfying in this stage and not as soft as you’d expect dough to be. 

- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, preheat oven to 170 and then turn it off. Place the bowl in the oven to prove for 1 hour. - Take it out, punch it, it’s satisfying. Knead it. until it feels nice and smooth. Re-cover, re-warm oven if needed, then leave for another 45 minutes. -Punch it again gently. It’ll be even more satisfying and leave a cool fist print. Knead it all up, adding flour if it’s too sticky, when braiding you don’t need it to be sticky. At this point it looks very satisfying. 

-Cut the dough into half, then however many strands you need. Decide on braiding, I usually do a 6-braid. Video for 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9-strand braid here  My 6-braid : 

-Allow dough to prove for another hour. - Apply egg wash. Just crack an egg and stir it up and then brush it on the nice little bumps. Decorate the bread if you wish! I made one loaf with sesame seeds.  - Heat oven to 375, allow to bake for 24-26 minutes.  Bam, nice bread!!!
