The fact that Twitter allows porn but not public death threats and tumblr allows public death threats but not porn is objectively funny and the fact that a large portion of us chose the latter over the former is objectively funnier

The Audactity
Quick story about the audacity of men
A few weeks ago, me and three other girls from my university decided to go out for a few drinks to celebrate passing our first year (well done us!!) we got to the pub and after a few drinks we were tipsy as most people would be whilst celebrating.
After around an hour of being at the pub, one of my friends noticed two older men probably in their 40′s (bare in mind I am 20 years old and the girls who I went out with were 18/19) smiling and winking at us. We immediately felt uncomfortable but continued our night thinking that maybe we were mistaken and they were looking at someone else. However, this was not the case and the two men came over having brought shots for us all. I did not drink these shots knowing that it was best for one of us to be aware of our surroundings but two of the girls I was with did. These girls quickly went from tipsy to not knowing where they were which suggested that the drinks brought for them were spiked.
The men would not leave us alone and I was repeatedly told ‘cheer up darling you’d look so much prettier with a smile on your face’. We put up with them sitting near us for a while but when one of them tried to get handsy with my friend, I did the only thing I could think of and approached a group of boys who I knew went to the same university as us and asked them to keep an eye out to which they replied ‘yeah we noticed you seemed uncomfortable why don’t you come and sit with us’. I felt the tension leave my body and gathered my friends up to sit in a booth with the boys who were our age. At this point the older men glared angrily and the group and left.
I thought it was all over and knew we’d have to leave the pub soon anyway as my friends couldn’t stand up properly but didn’t want to go straight away in case the men were waiting for us or followed us back to our accommodation. So we stayed with the group of boys for a little while feeling very grateful that they were there...
It was then that the group of boys started making suggestive comments about one of my friends who was at this point completely out of it joking about what they could do to her. I genuinely could not believe that we had escaped from two creeps and landed in a whole group of creeps!! At this point me and another friend who had also not taken the drinks brought by the men decided that it was time to go and very cautiously tried to help our other two friends home luckily we bumped into the people living in the flat next door who helped us to get back!
The audacity of these men to firstly think they could take advantage of us and then to take advantage of the situation we were in for their own gain! BOYS DO BETTER!!

‘It’s Not All Men’
The disappearance and death of Sarah Everard (Committed by a member of the police force if you thought it couldn’t get any worse).
This case has caused a lot of talk all around the UK, as males flock to defend themselves with their ‘it’s not all men’ talk. In fact, the top trending hashtag on twitter was not ‘RIP Sarah’ but ‘#NOTALLMEN’.
Of course it’s not all men we are not stupid but it has to be understood this crime was carried out by a POLICE OFFICER! It would be easy for women to agree and say not all men if crimes were solely carried out by thugs and tough looking males. BUT shocker they are not! If a police officer someone in a trusted authoritarian position can carry out a crime like this then yes we do have to assume all men because we do not know which men are the good ones and which are the bad ones!
Now that’s not me grouping all men into one category but if you are the type of man to see the situation of a young woman being killed and think ‘women shouldn’t be out by themselves after dark’. If you are not this type of man, why are you feeling so attacked? If you are not someone a woman should be afraid of, why are you reacting the way you are when it is obvious that it’s not all men?
I have been taught from a young age to call a friend as i’m walking to stick to well lit, public areas on my walk home, to laugh at the comments of any men that may talk to me in the fear that if I simply ignore them they will become aggressive and it’s not right to be scare of all men whilst out alone at night it’s not nice for women and it’s not nice for genuinely good men who are just living their lives but it is a necessity because one day it could be a man who is not so nice.

Leave Britney Alone!!
Tumblr media
So, I’ve never been the biggest fan of Britney Spears, not that I hated her or anything, I was just completely indifferent to her she didn’t sing music that I enjoy personally (although she does have some bangers!) but recently I have been following the Free Britney movement and must admit that she has been through more in her 39 years of life than I can even imagine. I watched several documentaries about her experiences and felt so strongly about the situation that I had to take it to the group chat. I have to add this particular group chat has some friends of my boyfriend in it that I am not particularly keen on. This is how the conversation went;
Me: ‘What do you guys think about this whole Britney Spears movement? Paparazzi really can be awful for celebrities they pretty much ruined her whole career by pushing this overly sexual persona onto her as a young adult.’
Idiot #1: ‘She can’t blame other people for her breakdown...Bitches be crazy.’
Idiot #2: ‘You only feel for her because you’re both women and apparently these days women have it SO hard’
Idiot #1: ‘Hey Idiot #2 let her have her feminist rant its entertaining’
Now, I just want to ask a question...When did I mention anything about women and the paparazzi? because although I do believe some men are treated better by interviewers etc. because they are perceived to be stronger and more likely to start a fight (which obviously terrifies all the people tearing them down because they are a bunch of pussies), I feel that celebrities as a whole are suffering due to the relentless attacks of the paparazzi.
IT IS NOT ONLY WOMEN (and if you think the whole Britney Spears situation is a ‘feminist rant’ or ‘women looking for a chance to tear men down’ you are wrong sir!!)
Take celebrities such as Jonah Hill. There have been reports that he is an unfriendly and cold person towards his fans, but it is quite obvious that the poor guy has anxiety due to the papers exploiting his changing body. When he was bigger they would post about him being overweight when he lost weight they wondered why he was doing it and how he has lost so much weight so fast was he starving himself? Did he have issues with his self confidence? they just had to get the story. SO NO it isn’t just a feminist rant celebrities should be left alone to enjoy their lives as much as possible obviously reported need to get paid and that is understandable but hounding people (YES they are people even though all the papers see are famous play things) is NOT right! going onto peoples private property is NOT right, blocking exits and getting in the way of these people when they are doing something as simple as buying vitamins from the store is NOT right! so yeah Britney deserves some respect as a grown woman, Jonah Hill deserves respect as a grown man and every other celebrity that you can think of deserves their personal space to do normal people things!
Thanks for coming to my ted talk!

H20: Just Add Proper Stylists
During lockdown I have been re-watching many shows from my childhood the most recent watch being H20: Just Add Water and honestly it holds up for a show released in 2006. However, as I got into season 2 of the show I realised that the stylists on the show (who had honestly done a great job dressing the other girls taking into account the time this show was produced)had absolutely no idea how to style Charlotte one of the more (and only) plus sized characters in the show. Let me show you!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whilst the main, skinnier girls were dressed in fun, young clothes that showed a bit of skin (which would make sense at they live in Australia and mostly hang out at the beach), Charlotte was dressed in mainly long skirts, ill fitting shirts and baggy trousers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t know maybe it’s a coincidence and the outfits were just chosen to fit Charlotte’s more studious, quiet personality I just thought it was interesting to see the difference in how the girls were dressed and as a mid-sized female myself wonder why they didn’t at least iron those shirts!!!
Maybe I’m reaching but just re-watch one episode of season 2 of the show and you’ll see straight away how different the girls are dressed.

Lockdown #2
So the UK has gone back into lockdown I managed to escape the lonely depths of my university room before this happened and decided to stay with my boyfriend for the month. We have been together for 11 months (not an extremely long time) and he is at work from 8am until 5pm meaning that I have around 9 hours to overthink every part of my life whilst he’s away aha!
Over the last 2 weeks I’ve been here, I have had two main things getting me down;
1. I’ve been feeling a little...ugly I guess would be the best way to word it! My self confidence has dropped a lot during the pandemic and I have narrowed it down to not having anywhere to go. I used to get dressed up to go out clubbing or do my hair and makeup to go out for lunch with my friends, and now that I’m not doing that I feel dull and plain!
Tumblr media
2.  Monotonous (adjective)-dull, tedious, and repetitious; lacking in variety and interest.
Another big thing getting to me during lockdown is how repetitive days can get. I feel that life is repetitive at the best of times but when you’re just waking up doing uni work eating then going back to sleep it can get tiring and can lead you to the question ‘Is this really all life is?’.
It’s horrible not feeling yourself and I know a lot of women AND men (don’t forget that men can have self esteem issues too as they are so often forgotten about!) are feeling the same way right now. I am feeling down but then I make a list (love a good list) of all the things helping me through this lockdown and I want to share them with you!
Baking- I have been baking A LOT during lockdown and even though I’ve definitely gained a few pounds stone in doing so baking is good for the feeding the soul (and those around you too!)
Knitting and crochet- Now listen I’m a complete beginner when it comes to knitting and crochet but learning a new skill during lockdown is never a bad thing! I am in the middle of knitting a scarf for my mom for Christmas and honestly each row of knitting I complete is something to be proud of for that day!
Binge watching-  Although it’s probably not the best thing for you health wise, everyone can do with a good binge watch now and again! I’ve currently been re-watching the whole of Doctor Who on Netflix (I’m on season 7 with Matt Smith as the Doctor and I have fell in love with him all over again!)
Walking- I have never been a massive fan of exercising but walking is a way of keeping fit without too much effort! There is a woods near where I am living which is nice to walk through in the evening so that you can hear all the birds singing there songs and take a break to just breath after sitting at home all day.
My last and very very important note would be LISTEN TO MUSIC! whatever genre you’re into listening to your favorite songs or even discovering  new music that you haven’t heard before can really lift your mood dramatically and make you feel like you have accomplished a lot when in reality you’ve just sat in bed all day!
Tumblr media
Overall, just look after yourself! self care is important and don’t feel guilty for being a little selfish whilst in lockdown you are the most important person in your life because without you, you wouldn’t have that life!
Lots of hugs
G x

dear trans kids
It’s totally okay to name yourself after someone you admire. Parents do it all the time, they name their kids after family members, friends, celebrities, anything, and you can do the same. You’re not faking anything, and I love your name. It suits you.

~Knees weak, Palms are sweaty~
Tumblr media
I have suffered with anxiety disorder since the age of 11.
After 9 years, 3 psychologists and an uncountable number of panic attacks, you'd have thought that by now I would have found a way to deal with the intense anxiety I feel on a day to day basis, and I have...for the most part.
University has of course caused my anxiety to peak. A new city, a shovel load of work and a bunch of new people to talk to (my inner introvert is screaming!)
There are a few things you have to remember in this environment;
People will tell you to "JuSt StOp BeInG aNxIoUs" and to "aCt LiKe An AdUlT" and to those people you simply raise your middle finger... be the better person... but seriously don't let them bother you. Only you know the way that you feel and your actions are justified!
2. Remember everyone is in the same situation that you are! There are going to be a lot of people at your university who are just as anxiety filled as you are. You are not alone!!
3. University is harder than high school! In my opinion, university is a lot different to high school. You are not given as much help, you are expected to be independant and you are living away from home (maybe) for the first time! IT IS DIFFICULT!!
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help! Many uni's have a great support system that can help to ease your anxiety! As well as this, lecturer's can be a big help and talk to you adult to adult!
You can find help for anxiety in many places; you can talk to a dcotor, a psychologist, friends, family and even a tumblr blog if everything else fails I am happy to give advice or just listen! Just know your feelings are justified and you aren't alone!

Halloweeny Goodness
Tumblr media
~“When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween’“~
I adore Halloween! I love scary movies, dressing up and most of all partying (although no one will be doing much partying this year with the old ‘rona’ flying round!) As a big fan of the horror genre and self diagnosed witch, I thought I’d share my top 10 horror movies.
So from the coven straight to your tumblr feed here's my
TOP TEN HORROR MOVIES FOR SPOOKY SEASON!
*WARNING: This post contains opinions, more specifically my opinions I would love to hear your top 10 as it is almost definitely going to be different to mine due to a little thing called personal taste*
10. A Quiet Place: Firstly, John Krasinski is one of the most attractive males I have ever laid my eyes on! and it was a mega plus watching him in dad mode throughout the movie! The acting in this film is pretty much 10/10 and the attention to detail throughout is simply spooktacular!
9. Sleepy Hollow: This film is honestly so aesthetically pleasing and includes a role played by Christina Ricci who is again one of my celebrity crushes (are you starting to see a pattern here?). This film is funny, scary, gory and even romantic at times. All the ingredients for a great movie!
8. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: Although I personally love this film, I believe it has a much greater effect on a viewer who has previously read the short story series of the same name written by Alvin Schwartz. A slightly above average movie plot but the great effects, and right amount of nostalgia thrown in puts this movie at number 8 on my list.
7. Carrie: The first film on my list based on a book by my beloved Stephen King, Carrie is a relatable character I mean apart from the whole telekinetic powers thing...obviously. Although I definitely prefer the original to the newer remake both are worth the watch.
6.In the Tall Grass: Another one of Stephen Kings masterpieces, In the Tall Grass is a fairly new addition to the horror genre but in my opinion holds up against the classics. The perfect amount of gore mixed with horror. As well as being interesting and psychological, this film has some great creative visual choices and is definitely worth a watch.
5.Coraline: Although not technically a horror movie, the Other Mother haunted the dreams of 9 year old me for months after the film was released which is why I believe this movie deserves fifth place on this list. Amazing visuals filmed in stop motion, Coraline is as charming as it is creepy and brings back a lot of nostalgia when re-watching.
4. Nightmare on Elm Street: An inspired creation by Wes Craven, Freddy Krueger is one of the most horrific creations in the horror genre. This movie works both as a slasher flick and a psychological thriller which is what makes it so amazing. As an older classic horror film, Nightmare on Elm Street still holds up in 2020 and is a must watch around Halloween time (I mean unless you actually want to fall asleep!)
3. IT (chapter 1 and 2): Now I have a massive fear of clowns and the original IT terrified me (Tim Curry’s Pennywise is my worst nightmare). The newer movies however venture into the adventure genre which is definitely different from the original but also the reason why I enjoy it so much. Everything from the characters and the actors who play them (the casting for these films is some of the best I've seen) to the great (but sometimes overused) CGI, this film is beautifully shot and deserves the third spot on my list.
2. Scream: Scream and it’s sequels were probably the first horror/slasher movies I ever watched and I adore them! Although they may not be the most scary films on this list, they have a charming nostalgia surrounding them that only 90′s films can bring! Neve Campbell’s acting as main character Sydney Prescott is Oscar worthy, and the way that Wes Craven takes expected horror movie clichés and turns them into great movies with some amazing plot twists is truly extraordinary. Definitely worth the watch this Halloween!
1.Pet Sematary: *Drum Roll* and in first place is ‘Pet Sematary’!! You guessed it a film adaptation of one of Stephen King’s books takes first place. Both the original and the remakes of this film stand out for their own special reasons. The original (1989) Has it’s strengths and weaknesses, Whilst I personally enjoy it as I have read the novel, A new audience member to this film may not completely understand the plot as the film is fast paced and difficult to keep up with without knowing the plot first. However, the cinematography is impressive, and the film has an eerie feel to it that not many movies have. The 2019 remake has to be one of my favorite movie in the horror genre! Jete Lawrence is an amazing child actor who portrays the role of Ellie perfectly. The movie is moving as well as scary, and conveys emotion exceptionally well making you care for the characters quickly! overall it’s a great movie with some beautifully shot scenes and that is why it gets number one on my list!
Bonus Movie: Although I could not fit ‘Gerald’s Game’ on the list, I just had to add it as a bonus movie! It is gruesome and thrilling with a completely original plot! A must watch!
