How to study like Hermione Granger ?
Be prepared and start early
Hermione is not the kind who would venture to a lecture without having read the required class material. In fact, she always read the class manuals and learn everything she can during her holydays, before classes even start! You could do the same by doing the required work your teachers give you. If you don’t get any, look up what you’ll study and learn more about it. Don’t ever come to class unprepared.
Read a lot and broadly
The brightest witch of her age likes to read. In fact, it’s one of her favourite distraction all throughout the saga. She seems to always have a book under her nose. She reads broadly: from boring history books, to children’s tales. She is the kind to read extra books for class, not just the required one. By doing this, she sure gets a broad culture and knowledge.
Get organised
Hermione knows her to success depends on good organisation. She is shown to have a study plan for her exams, weeks before they happen. A good organisation helps her to always be prepared for what’s coming and to get spare time to do extra work. She would never be the kind to pull an all-nighter in order to finish a project the night before it’s due because she had forgotten about it.
Teach others
Ron and Harry always need her and Hermione kindly help them in many situations. Teaching other (without doing all the work for them) is a great way to make sure you understand everything about a subject. It forces you to simplify and visualise clearly what you’re talking about. So, don’t think helping others is a waste of time, it helps you as well.
Pay attention in class and participate
Even though she is mocked for this trait, Hermione can’t help but paying attention and be active in class. She always has her hand in the air when a question is asked. She knowns paying attention in class is the most important way to understand and learn about a subject. Don’t be afraid to answer your teacher’s questions, just like Hermione does.

Blog Update
Yooo, tumblrr! and the ppl of tumblr!! I’ve missed you! I haven’t been able to post anything -at all- since my last update (which was about a year ago). But here I am!! and like what they say in my mother tongue, “Ako’y nagbabalik-loob sa’yo” ;)) so much has changed so let me use this opportunity to share some friendly chika [story] to y’all.
See, I’m a new person now:)) or at least I’m in the early process of reinventing myself. I am currently neck-deep into the world of productivity and self-improvement, coupling it up with my 2022 theme of: Identity. What I intend to do for the remaining days of this year is to figure out who I am - my values, habits, and hobbies- and who I aim to be for the following chapters of my life. and I would really love to share my journey to this loving and supportive platform - to the Studyblr community.
With the start of “Ber” Months, I’ve also decided to start blogging. When I first started blogging back in June of 2021, I’d describe myself as someone who was clueless and aimless, swimming afloat the busy community of intellectual Studyblr bloggers. This time, however, I sense different energy in me.
I believe I am now driven and more motivated, backed up with a plan and specific timeframe. I am pretty excited to be here with the opportunity to share with ya’ll the knowledge and experience I’ve accumulated throughout the years. As a second-year, irregular college student - studying Hospitality Management, and the eldest daughter in a Christian, Asian household, I’d like to think that my stories and learnings would be of substance.
My blog would include topics about studying, adulting, and desperately surviving. The contents found here are not only limited to academics and practical shit, but include the mental, emotional, and life-changing journey I plan on embarking on as well:)) these will be separated by tags ofc;)
Just a bit of an early warning, I may provide messy content - which is not quite like the typical studyblr we have on here as I still do not have my whole life together:) However, I believe we are all the same in just trying to survive and make our way in this cruel, but beautiful world. We need a bit more transparency, the realistic mess, and the cleaning we must do as we find the worth to breathe another day.
basically, i will be brain-dumping depressive shit on here so brace urselves, girlies

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

Underrated Dark Academics:
Part 2
• The Rebellious Dark Academic
Paperbacks? Nah, this academic prefers to get pirated copies of their school books because after all education should be free. Challenges the system, reads romantic poetry, updated with the news, joins the marches and confuses the professors with their questions. Arrives early to their favourite class, skips the others, has a debate with a random stranger, fiercely protective of their friends, black nailpolish, classical music playlist interspersed with punk rock songs. Black blazers, late nights, brown boots, tired eyes, going to bed after sunrise and dreaming about the revolution.
• The Vanilla Dark Academic
Loves softness and scented candles, carefully turns the pages of their hardcover books, presses flowers between their pages, brown warm sweaters (oversized to make sweater paws). Wears golden jewellery and pendants, messy bun, silent observer, wonderful listener with strong opinions. Fan of Mozart, loves playing piano or listening to it. Loves kissing their lovers in the rain, fluently quotes verses from poetry, writes long letters and secretly has a crush on the rebellious dark academic.

Dark Academia REALISTIC Study Tips :
You think Dark Academia can only exist in fictions and movies? You're welcome for this post then.
Light up your favourite candle, or put on the sound of soft rain or piano music.
Make small notes above the lines of your book, write down your observations in the margins.
Write and rewrite your notes if that's what helps you learn, in a dark loopy handwriting, not caring if it's messy.
Have questions. Question what you're reading and strike up a conversation with your professor about it.
If that doesn't quench your thirst for knowledge, pour over the books in the library or research on your laptop at late night.
Read. Read. Read. Because dark academia is all about gaining knowledge. Read the books on your shelf that you haven't read before.
Search up funny facts or secrets about romantic poets or mythological figures and share them.
Have a group of friends who are interested in discussing literature or debating over ancient theories over a cup of coffee.
Romanticize studying to help you get in the mood, get dressed up and imagine that you're doing research for your secret poetic society.
Change your environment of studying. Take a walk and read your books on a meadow during sunset or write your essays in the cozy corner of your favourite cafe.
Try to read up materials before your professor teaches them and answer all the questions in class, enjoy being a know-it-all.
Record yourself explaining a certain topic that you've studied recently and pretend as if you're teaching someone.
Take book recs from pinterest, tumblr, your friends and professors and write them on the messy palm of your hand.
Make your notes funny. Use swear words and innuendos if that's what helps you remember. Just enjoy learning.

i think we need to remember that learning isn't always 'aesthetic'. learning is sometimes so hard that you want to quit (and sometimes you do); learning can leave you drained of all of your energy; learning has its highs, but its lows as well, and not understanding something straight away can make you feel like a failure; learning is notes that you can understand, regardless of whether or not anyone else can; learning is for yourself, and yourself only.
