at this point, the thing i'm scared of is that the author will be misogynistic about the wife, because i cannot suffer that. like, she should be homophobic and feel betrayed, of course, that is good, but if chris hunt even hints that shes a hysterical female, im out and the book is getting returned.

speaking of which, i almost dropped n for narcissus because i got incredibly scared that the last 75% of the book was going to be a committed relationship with arthur, SO SCARED that i flipped to the end just to check. like, the worst possible thing i could imagine is a whole book devoted to closeted rich upper class guy/random twink over his head. i would not be able to get through that. luckily, the author was smart, and there seem to be no committed relationships in the entire thing, unless you count the protagonist's wife, which i don't.
