A while back my pharmacist saw my deadname on my profile and accidentially called it out, he corrected and deleted my deadname from the system so only my preferred name shows up now. There was a crowd of people behind me, so as he hands over the pills he apologized, in equal tone and volume as when he called my deadname and lied saying it's been a long day and he didn't mean to call out -his own- name. I quietly told him it was fine and he didn't need to do that for my sake.
His response: "No, it's my name now."
I went to the pharmacist yesterday, his nametag is my deadname. He informed me he's immigrating and in the process he's changed his first name to my deadname to have an English sounding name. That's why he's now able to get a reprint of his nametag to be my deadname. And repeated, with the intense seriousness of someone who is going to die on this hill: "It's mine now. Not yours. I'm taking." His tone indicated that decision is final.
Bro literally deadnamed me once, and has committed to flat out stealing my deadname. It's his now. Legally. Officially. I over heard his co-workers call him by the name.

If I have learned anything from reading dozens upon dozens of reddit posts it's that I'm incredibly blessed to be Neurodivergent. I love the way I view and understand this world. I never wanna think like an NT.

My neutral face combined by my anxiety of not crossing anyone in my path/not being perceived apparently comes across as a superiority complex 😀

That being said, if you're allistic and find yourself being mad at an autistic person because of something you haven't actually communicated to them because you feel that you "shouldn't have to say it" and that "they'd figure it out if they really cared to", then YOU are in fact the one causing a problem and the one who needs to work on improving your communication skills

It shocks me how many people don’t realise that the autism spectrum isn’t this:
Tumblr media
That is in fact a very outdated and in many ways insulting…
THIS IS WHAT THE SPECTRUM IS:
Tumblr media
And it is actually incorrect to say “well everyone is somewhere on the spectrum”
Someone may show traits that are associated with autism but that doesn’t mean they are on the spectrum but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are autistic,
Just like someone who is autistic may show traits of people who are neurotypical.
When I am speaking to friends who may use incorrect language or may have outdated information of what the spectrum is, I explain to them why it is important to change how we view and talk about being neurotypical. None of them are intentionally being offensive and are often happy to get a better understanding. It’s always important to be open to changing how we view something so that everyone is able to feel accepted and understood; therefore if there is any information or something I’ve said that is offensive, incorrect or even if you have a different perspective than me, please let me know as I only want to be respectful of others and am always willing to see other people reasons for their views.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

The best thing I’ve learned the last 5 years of working is that you should always put the expectations of your productivity in “mediocrity”.
As I like to remind myself often: “if it’s not a matter of life or death, it doesn’t deserve a life or death effort”
As a neurodivergent, the key is giving your 50% effort in your work.
If you give a constant of 50% of effort, the days that you have 100% of energy, you give 50% and then have 50% extra for personal related things
But the days you have 50% of energy, you can give a little less and the change in productivity is not gonna be as high as going from 100 to 40 than going from 50 to 40. So it’s less likely to be bother by your supervisors.
This is the way I’ve come not to burn out every 6-9 months

Sometimes the world is just silly and strange and you happen to say the exact right thing to the right person.
When I was working at the sex shop we had this one toy by Jimmy Jane. They gave store reps one as a freebie which was genius because we instantly converted to believers after being initially very skeptical.
The toys were small and pretty cute, but no one thought they’d pack much of a punch. The best of the lot looked like one of the little Totoros, two little pink ears sticking up from a rounded body. Unfortunately most customers would say it looked like a tooth.
So one day I’m showing it to a man looking for a gift for his girlfriend. “It has a motor in each ear, and it can pass the vibration back and forth between them. Fully submersible, it’s rechargeable, and really powerful for it size.”
He was just looking at it in intently.
“Are you going to say it looks like a tooth?”
He laughed, “Yes.”
“I get it. Personally I always thought it looks more like a cute rabbit, I’m always tempted to draw googly eyes on it.”
His expression froze and I stopped laughing, wondering what I could have said that so thoroughly checked him. Without a word he slowly reached down into his pocket and pulled something out.
“I think these are for you.”
If he’d had different vibes I wouldn’t have reached out my hand to accept his offering but up to that moment he’d just seemed like an awkward engineer type. I opened my hand to look at what he’d given me.
Two nicely cutout handmade cardboard googly eyes.
I lost it. “Why do you have these?!” I gasped between bursts of laughter.
“I made them! I always keep some on me, because you never know when you’ll see an opportunity to add eyes to something! But I think you should have these.”
I was absolutely delighted and after I rang him up for the toy I decided to tape them to our scanner. I couldn’t put them on the display toy but every time I used the scanner I’d laugh all over again about saying just the right thing to make someone pull handmade googly eyes out of his pocket.
