im MONTHS late to making good on this promise but !! i'm excited to try something different for a DTIYS challenge: a colour this in your style! all the rules and links to access the full pieces will be under the cut :)

rules:

1. no deadline, no due date. take as much time as you wish, and you can colour one, two, or all of them :)

2. i contemplated adding a designated colour palette to each of their designs (since these are based off an au), but i honestly think it's more fun to see the combinations people choose instead. there are basic themes for them (lizzie=chaos, gem=nature/life, cleo=decay/death, and pearl=stars), but go apeshit

3. please tag me AND/OR use the tag #thellodtiys on ur posts. i lurk on twitter/ig so you can use it there too!

thats pretty much it :) the rest is up to you. ive been marinating on the idea of a colouring book zine for the past few months, so this is my soft-launch to see how it goes. i cant express the gratitude i feel towards the kindness this community has shown me, and making content with these silly block women has been an unexpected source of joy in my life. to know that people enjoy my works is simply put, a treasure on its own. ty :^)

25 is about getting older and realizing you love it here. 25 isn’t about being afraid of aging, right? it’s about sleeping early, it’s about reading more, it’s about learning you look better naked, it’s about looking back over photos of a teenage you and feeling joy instead of shame. 25 is about realizing peace is worth every dollar it costs you, that you need to buy the better bread everytime, that your friends are fewer in number but infinitely stronger than before. 25 is realizing that the world doesn’t just get harder, but you get better at dealing with it too. 25 is realizing it’s all uphill from here, and i’m so excited for the rest

now details beneath the cut!

this piece was months in the making, birthed from an idea to draw c!niki dancing with the skeletons of her past, armed with the fire that signifies her pyre. i put together a progress gif (since i just learned how to do those!) and you can see the course of action this piece was on begin to change.

additionally, in the background of this piece are figures, who are tubbo, eret, fundy and tommy (going from left to right).

here’s some of the concept work i did trying to figure out this piece (unfortunately, c!wilbur ended up ditching the flame-face concept, since i was struggling to make it look right)

PUKES i’m so delighted that my silly jazz au got to be apart of an incredible collection of works for this project waaaah

in all honesty, the idea for this au started when i applied to this zine months before i even knew i was accepted. so in a way, it was sort of manifested :^) this was the most self indulgent, opulent thing i could create for this zine, cleo in a beautiful red dress with lots of jewelry, glitz and glam, and of course a little sparkley eye makeup /swoons

the curse’s newest target

recreation of jean-baptiste greuze’s “a girl with a dead canary”. i found the painting while watching a video on grief, and it just struck me quite a bit. the flowers are peonies, which (among many things) represent shamefulness and indignation.

but LIZZIE MY LIZZIEE WAAAUGHHHHH. she was so pathetic :( i had so much fun with the expression and her face, i tried to really push the emotion of the expression and her crying, red eyes, blotchy cheeks, shiny nose… and giving her a lot of details like peach fuzz and little eyelashes. it really turned out how i wanted, which is epic :]

V. the earth

crashes into the wall at the speed of sound, instantly shattering every bone in my body

this started as body practice referencing roberto ferri’s “redemption”, which has SUCH beautiful anatomy and lighting to learn from. the quickly got derailed into secret life art because the last episode has been rotating in my mind like a microwave

also tem pointed out that sunflower were pearl’s symbolic flower in empires s1 if anyone needs me im rotting

also the hand is PEARL 🙅🏻‍♀️this is not desert duo 🙅🏻‍♀️ go back to the desert /silly
