maybe billy is so stubborn about max not being his sister because he had a biological sister, and they were close, but something happened to her. of course, max could never replace her. it would be an insult to even think anyone could replace her. and maybe that’s why it’s so important to him in the end to protect her the way he couldn’t protect his first sister.
