Instead of black cat and golden retriever dynamics, i propose the golden cat and black retriever dynamic. The former is a bit snippy, not outgoing, but has a warm personality when you get to know them. They like to criticise things. They're smart, but not witted, and don't really know how to properly communicate their opinions without seeming arrogant. The latter is serious, but more outgoing. Not overly clever, but they know when to talk, and make the right suggestions at the right moments. They'd be a good leader, but prefer to stay in the second place. They seem endearing and polite, they won't shout at you when you do something genuinely stupid, but rather forcefully remove you from the situation. Would be a femme, but doesn't like dresses.
