TEMPT DESIGNS
1K posts
Emma Trussler is a pictorial textile artist who works with her surroundings and home life to create work through photography and colour. The vibrancy of her work comes from saturations and techniques, which she develops, into abstract paintings, constructed textiles, digital explorations, printed fabrics and papers. She uses fragmented textures and forms that are melded with stitch into large scale pieces. Different mediums such as textiles, digital printing, photography and paint create a medley of contrast in the pieces generated. The imagery in the work becomes communicative and innovative. She fuses elements of her own life and surroundings to create pictorial journeys that are fabricated into a vivid, distinct style that forms a constructed and vibrant collection of work.

The exhibition had were inspired by scientific colour theories from the impressionists  onwards such as Georges Seurat, where the viewers perception created the colours.
This interest in perception during the 20th century extended to movement and colour, which was intensified in the 1950s and 1960s in what came to be known as ‘Op Art’ and ‘Kinetic Art’ where sensations viewing the artwork were heightened. These artists were know as Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley, Jeffrey Steele and Peter Sedgley.
Their legacy of these artist such as Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jim Lambie and Sara Moorhouse, will not only be representative of the era but will hold right up to the present. Inspiring future generations and talent.

Liz Payne is an Australian Artist living and working in the inner west of Sydney. The combination of art and craft allows her work to become unique and distinctive from other artists in the same field. The combination of print and embroidery creates wonderful piece of detail and all her work is vibrant with the creations of vivid colour and intricate detailing from the use of thread, beads and sequins.
The use of contrasting techniques of bold, bright and colourful prints, shapes and form in her work, as opposed to the slow, steady process of her choice of medium. This allows her work to be diverse through colour and pattern. There is also symbolism that is explored through the decorative patterns that are representative within her work.
With her love of all things craft. Liz’s colourful aesthetic evolved through her strong background in visual arts and design.
You are able to find her work online to exhibiting artworks and selling pieces online, Liz also has begun expanding her range of one of a kind pieces to include necklaces, earrings and other accessories. Each piece is a one off unique piece therefore something unique to add to you’re collection and very exciting at the same time.
Due to her work being the way it is, it is allowing me to have inspiration in all mediums and the way I should market and brand myself.

The enjoyment of making
When creating work as an artist/designer, what really makes you an individual from the rest is how you enjoy it. Whether or not you are able to enjoy it with you’re undivided attention and still be able to preserve the making process as something you are still ambitious about.
A few tips of the trade when I look to promotion and how to relate myself within the industry as an applied artist.

Evaluation and Aims
The research trip was fundamental to my work in my final project, the fact that I was able to use it sufficiently within my work and allow it to create a dramatic change in my work using it for the final project. With this the work and style has changed becoming more abstract and more appropriate for the applied market that I want to be within.
It’s all about the research so keen to hear about…

Surface and Pattern
The work here is pictured on the old streets of Xuzhou, not to be confused with a city called ‘Suzhou’ and this is a city in Jiangsu Province, China. The picture was taken on one of my walking trips around revisiting some of my old haunts. Revisiting and also having just had two weeks learning about Chinese Philosophy created a much needed escape to evaluate my work and how one can proceed with…
