Integrated Security is a Top Business Priority for IoT Deployments
Global Internet of Things (IoT) connections to reach 45 billion by 2023, finds Frost & Sullivan
SANTA CLARA, California, Sept. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Internet of Things (IoT) is increasingly permeating every aspect of consumer and enterprise activities. With the growth of microelectronics, ubiquitous connectivity, and cognition (predictive computing), IoT is poised for rapid growth. Whether malicious or accidental, malfunctioning IoT devices, such as a connected car or components of a smart grid, can pose a significant risk to consumers, businesses, and societies.
Frost & Sullivan's insight, IoT Security Market Watch - Key Market Needs and Solutions in the IoT Landscape, predicts that the total number of IoT devices will grow from 12.44 billion devices in 2016 to over 45.41 billion devices by 2023, at a global compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.3 percent. The insight discusses key market needs, leading solutions, the importance of security for IoT operation success, and device component manufacturer activities in IoT security.
"Hardening the security posture of IoT components once the product has been deployed commercially is extremely difficult. Therefore, it is imperative that security is implemented during the device design phase or device manufacturing phase," said Frost & Sullivan Digital Transformation Industry Director Vikrant Gandhi. "Device original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must also use components that have the necessary built-in security capabilities to ensure the appropriate levels of device and data authentication and integrity."
Key considerations for complete and effective IoT cybersecurity include:
Operating within the physical and technical limitations of IoT by using efficient and lightweight security technologies;
The ability to accommodate multiple approaches, including digital certificate-based or certificate-less security mechanisms;
The protection of IoT data at rest, in transit, and in the cloud;
A standards-based approach for IoT security; and
Operating at a scale to support millions of IoT devices with no impact on speed and security of IoT operations.
"One of the challenges is securing IoT without increasing the cost of IoT devices, and without consuming too many computing resources. This is where innovative solutions and approaches can help," noted Gandhi. "IoT will only be truly secure when every participant in the IoT ecosystem approaches deployments with a collaborative, security-first mind set."

Live-in Relationships in Urban India: "Not a Social Stigma Anymore", SweetRing Survey
NEW DELHI, Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It's been two years since the Supreme Court of India ruled that a live-in relationship in India is "an acceptable norm" and live-in partners can be given equal rights as those to a legally married couple. Since then, live-in relationships have become more acceptable and prevalent. SweetRing, a popular dating app carried out a survey asking its users about their views on live-in relationships. It was observed from the survey that 68% of people surveyed wouldn't mind having a live-in relationship with their partners before getting married. Moreover, 64% think that a couple should move in together within the first 6 months of dating. This change can be attributed to youngsters in India moving out of their houses and living alone in new cities for better work opportunities and lifestyle.
The in-app survey was conducted over 3,500 respondents across 5 major cities in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Gujarat, and Chandigarh). Results show that there isn't much difference between the outlook of male and female users, 70% of male and 65% of female respondents agree that it is important to move-in together before getting married. 75% the users believe moving in together would allow them to understand each other's lifestyle and habits better. Theaspect on which men and women had a different outlook was regarding the living expenses. While 64% men think that they should spend more, a whopping 71% of women believe in sharing the expenses equally.
Survey results also hint that people in live-in relationships still face apprehensions, related to the fear of how the society would judge their relationship. When users were asked how would they react if their friend is in a live-in relationship; 58% responded that they would be neutral as it's a personal matter. This shows that even though respondents have a fear of being judged, they still respect the personal space of others.
Above results clearly indicate that while more and more people want to have a live-in relationship in order to understand their partners better and strengthen their relationship; the concern of the societal pressure makes them question their decision. It can be inferred that if people, especially families and elders of the house express an acceptance towards live-in relationships; more couples would choose to be in one before getting married.

weTouch survey suggest ways to change single status
BANGKOK, Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For people that want to change their single status, the popular social app weTouch holds a survey for Thai users and finds out that 67% of people in the app are willing to meet new friends if they are smart, intellectual, dare to show that they are interested and they choose an interesting topic to discuss. 58% of women say if they find a man like this then they will be interested to go on a date with him.
The popular social app weTouch found that about half of the women in their apps are waiting for men to start a conversation, interesting topics for women include traveling, food, hobbies, and any leisure topics to break the ice. Men might also want to ask about the lady's interest and try to relate to her. After initiating a conversation, when is the right time for the two parties to meet up? If men bring it up too fast and are too eager to meet, women will feel afraid and uncomfortable with them, but if men take too long and do not invite women to go on dates, a woman will think that the man is not interested in her. Therefore, weTouch finds that the right time to meet is after 7 days of chatting. 7 days is a golden period to meet up because both sides are still interested to know more about each other, therefore, increasing the chance of dating by 6%. In addition, the most attractive dating place for women is the shopping mall, because in the mall there are plenty of restaurants and usually a cinema, after watching a movie in the cinema they can go to cafes or restaurants in the mall to know each other better.

Rejecting Global A&T Noteholders Group Enter Formal Agreement To Block Global A&T Restructuring Proposal
NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rejecting Noteholders Group of Global A&T ("The Rejecting Noteholders," also known as the "Dechert Group"), has executed an agreement opposing Global A&T's restructuring proposal, thereby blocking the Company's ability to gain the necessary noteholder approval for its proposal, which is 1/3 of noteholder support, from the Company's 10% Senior Secured Notes due in 2019. Media reports had indicated Global A&T intended to commence a consent solicitation for its restructuring proposal, but based on the formal opposition of the Rejecting Noteholders, such a solicitation would not garner the requisite Noteholder support and would therefore fail.
Accordingly, the Rejecting Holders sent the following letter to Global A&T's board of directors informing that Global A&T lacks the necessary noteholder support for the proposal and of the Rejecting Holders' formal commitment to block the proposal.
The following is the Rejecting Noteholders' letter to the Board (excluding the terms enclosed to the Board):
September 26, 2017
The Board of Directors of Global A&T Electronics Ltd. c/o Kirkland & Ellis LLP 26/F Gloucester Tower, the Landmark 15 Queen's Road Central Hong Kong Attention: Neil McDonald ([email protected]) Patrick J. Nash Jr. ([email protected])
Re: Global A&T Electronics Ltd. ("GATE")
To the Board of Directors of GATE:
Reference is made to my prior letter to you dated September 18, 2017 (the "September 18 Letter"). Each term that is initially capitalized herein shall have the meaning ascribed to such term in the September 18 Letter.
Since the date of such letter, our clients have reviewed an article that appeared in Debtwire with respect to a consent solicitation that the Company intends to carry out, notwithstanding the rejection of the terms of the Proposed Transaction by approximately 40% of the holders of the Old Notes. We understand that the Company and certain of its stakeholders intend to "test the resolve" of the Dechert Noteholder Group.
I write today to inform you that the resolve of the Dechert Noteholder Group is as steadfast as ever. Members of that group holding a blocking position in the Old Notes have entered into a second coordination agreement pursuant to which they have agreed to reject, not consent to and oppose the Proposed Transaction and not support, consent to or accept a transaction other than on the terms previously conveyed to your advisors. For your convenience, those terms are attached hereto.
The decision to proceed with a consent solicitation in the face of firm resistance from approximately 40% of the holders of the Old Notes highlights the conflicts within the Company's capital structure and suggests that the Board is doing the bidding of Affinity, given its position as a holder of new notes and equity. We continue to be surprised at the Company's insistence on pursuing a transaction that is doomed to fail. To the extent the Board is acting to advance parochial and insider interests, it does so at its own risk. Hoping that the Dechert Noteholder Group will accede to the pressure, in the face of knowledge that such group has entered into an agreement to the contrary, is reckless and a waste of valuable Company resources, a needless distraction for the high quality management team, and puts the financial health of the business in jeopardy.
All rights of the Dechert Noteholder Group and each of its members are reserved and no admission is intended hereby.
Sincerely, Michael J. Sage

Frost & Sullivan Applauds LogRhythm for Outpacing the Overall Global Security Information and Event Management Market in Terms of Year-Over-Year Growth Since 2010
LogRhythm's success is not only the result of doing many individual small things well; it is the result of putting the pieces together in a continuous, unified platform
SANTA CLARA, California, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the global security information and event management (SIEM) market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes LogRhythm with the 2017 Enabling Technology Leadership Award. The LogRhythm Threat Lifecycle Management Platform addresses the larger framework used to bring in data, provide search and automated analytics, and then generate a formal incident response. This Best Practices Award recognizes LogRhythm's support for analyst work, including transitioning through life cycle phases from forensic data, discovery, and qualification of events, and then initiating the first steps necessary for remediation.
LogRhythm
The LogRhythm SIEM was built from the ground up rather than being the product of acquiring and integrating disparate technologies, and overall performance is a cornerstone of the company's products. For instance, while other SIEM engines were focused on developing faster ingestion rates, LogRhythm worked on usability and on data normalization. In doing so, LogRhythm built a SIEM that is practical for mid markets while being robust enough for enterprise networks.
"LogRhythm normalizes data centrally at the data processing layer as opposed to the collection layer, allowing normalization logic to be updated and propagated in a consistent manner. LogRhythm also offers optional agents that perform both log collection as well as independent monitoring, including file integrity monitoring. In addition, LogRhythm provides data management by entity to allow the reuse of reports, alarm rules, and AI Engine rules without the need to recreate them for new entities," said Frost & Sullivan, Senior Cybersecurity Analyst, Christopher Kissel.
The SmartResponse automation framework is part of LogRhythm's Threat Lifecycle Management Platform and enables the automated execution of targeted actions. SmartResponse is a differentiator; shown below are a few other features:
SmartResponse plug-ins—In 2016, LogRhythm created plug-ins with nine other security service providers
Automated playbooks by use case—Playbooks can be developed to shape a response for compliance with specific regulations; additionally, playbooks can be developed for specific threats
"Precision search is a vitally important facet of the search function provided by LogRhythm. The most important and elegant feature is that from the perspective of the analyst, they can work with both structured and unstructured data simultaneously. The solution's dashboard is particularly elegant as analysts can isolate a set of structured data sets and create searches against unknown variables," said Kissel.
Frost & Sullivan estimates global SIEM market revenue at roughly $1.8 billion in appliances and services. In every year since 2010 when Frost & Sullivan charted SIEM, LogRhythm has outperformed the global SIEM market in terms of year-over-year growth in revenue.
LogRhythm is a privately-held company that built its products and its relationships from the ground up. What were once essential soft values, like customer relations and technical support, have become important elements in the continued growth of LogRhythm as a major SIEM vendor.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that achieved best-in-class growth in three key areas: understanding demand, nurturing the brand, and differentiating from the competition.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
About LogRhythm
LogRhythm is the pioneer in Threat Lifecycle Management™ (TLM) technology, empowering organizations on six continents to rapidly detect, respond to and neutralize damaging cyberthreats. LogRhythm's TLM platform unifies leading-edge data lake technology, machine learning, security analytics, and security automation and orchestration in a single end-to-end solution. South Africa's Telco Operators Transform to Become End-to-end Digital Service Providers
Diverse service offerings and strategic partnerships will enhance growth opportunities, finds Frost & Sullivan
CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Market consolidation is becoming more prevalent in the South African telecommunications market as operators are looking to build the capabilities required to position themselves as end-to-end ICT and digital service providers. Typical examples are Vodacom's procurement of XLink to expand and strengthen its Internet of Things (IoT) offerings, and Telkom's acquisition of BCX to bolster its enterprise ICT services portfolio.
"Changing market, customer, and technology dynamics are compelling telco operators to become more agile and customer centric by investing in new products and services aiming to transform their cost base, and simplifying as well as digitalising complex business models, processes and systems," said Digital Transformation Senior Research Analyst Deepti Dhinakaran. "Moving forward, telco operators should diversify services, ensure they offer a superior digital customer experience, improve time to market, and form strategic partnerships in order to remain relevant."
Digital Transformation of Telecommunications Operators in South Africa, 2016, is part of Frost & Sullivan's Communication Services Growth Partnership Service. The analysis examines: digital customer engagement, digital entertainment services (like OTT, VOD, and Pay TV), mobile app-based services, converged connectivity, cloud-based services, mobile-driven digital payments, adaptive mobile advertising, and IoT-driven applications. The study also takes a look at strategic and tactical initiatives and trends that operators should be looking to adopt. Case studies of leading operators, like Vodacom, MTN, and Telkom, contain insights on how digitalisation is driving revenue numbers, and the strategic initiatives that have been adopted by these operators over the years in both the B2B and B2C segments.
To access more information on this analysis, please click here
Key telco operator investment areas that show significant growth potential in South Africa include IoT/M2M, fibre, eCommerce, and Big Data and analytics. During the next three years, telco operators will focus on these areas to expedite their digital transformation journey, while offering innovative and diversified services. Other developments driving digital transformation include:
A surge in data consumption driving 3G and 4G network coverage, resulting from an increasing demand for new and innovative mobile application-based services
A boost to fixed broadband, wireless broadband, and mobile data services due to rising demand for data
Telco operator migration to more advanced networks and IP-based services
An increase in IT spend of 15.5 percent from 2016-2017,
Telco development of in-store digital experience to boost customer experience, and
A growing demand for digital entertainment, digital payments, and IoT-based services;
"Legacy information technology systems (IT), disjoint IT stacks and a lack of integration between business support and operations support systems, on the other hand, are limiting the flexibility of operators which in turn hinders growth," noted Dhinakaran. "As a result, telecommunications operators are investing in customer relationship management (CRM) systems and leveraging social media channels to provide a well-integrated, innovative, omni-channel customer service experience. Additionally, operators can be seen investing in networks transformation technologies such as Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) in order to enhance their scalability and flexibility to offer new services, while also improving their efficiencies."
The study includes mobile network operators, fixed-line operators, and mobile virtual network operator segments. End-user segments include consumers, small and medium enterprises, and large enterprises.

Korean VR Startup Introduces 360 Social Media Platform
From capturing 360 photos to sharing - this app does it all
SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Next Aeon Inc. a member company of the K-ICT Born2Global Centre, announced the official launch of its virtual reality brand, YouVR. On September 25th, YouVR 360 and YouVR Maker will be available on Google Play Store and App Store. This innovative mobile solution will change the way people engage with 360 degree photos and virtual reality tours. With the aim to democratize VR, Next Aeon has developed an easy, affordable and fun way people can create and share VR content.
Korean VR Startup Introduces 360 Social Media Platform.
The first of its kind, YouVR 360 is a social media platform where people can upload and share 360 degree photos anytime, anywhere. Originally conceived as a 360 camera app, it soon transformed into a social media app once the developers at Next Aeon realized that 360 degree photos were scattered all over the internet. There was no collective platform where people could freely upload, see and comment on panorama photos, as they do on Instagram or Facebook.
Inviting photographers, IT enthusiasts, bloggers and anyone with a taste for adventure to partake in this new forum of exchange, YouVR 360 is more than a hand-held camera that takes panorama images. With YouVR, users can take 360 degree photos, upload instantly and interact with fellow users all over the world. It also offers a range of filters you can use to add dramatic effect. Traditional 2D photos have not changed greatly since their invention and people are ready for a new way of perceiving and capturing the world around them.
YouVR 360 also supports 360 cameras, such as Ricoh Theta and Samsung Gear360.
For those that have a more professional need, Next Aeon also released YouVR Maker. This app allows users to create VR tours on the spot as they take a series of 360 degree pictures. The app automatically connects scenes creating the effect of a tour - moving from room to room, from one space to another.
The demand for VR content has risen over the last couple of years, but there is still a major lack of content. Existing VR-related devices and software programs are too expensive and difficult for the average user. YouVR overcomes these obstacles by making VR content creation and management affordable, easy and fast.
The key to making this possible is in its technology. Early this year, Next Aeon developed the fastest image stitching technology on mobile devices and incorporated it into the YouVR apps. The successful implementation of this technology is a feat on its own. Existing image stitching processes take up to a minute on PC. Next Aeon's mobile technology takes just one second to 'stitch' six photos into a 360 degree image using the iPhone 7. It automatically detects the overlapping parts - feature points - between images, stitches them together and adjusts the light and color contrast to produce a seamless high-quality 360 degree image.
The amazing thing about this is that all this is done on the smartphone.
"Given the limited CPU and memory on a smartphone and other mobile devices, realizing this technology is extremely difficult. There are external factors to consider, such as the amount of light in one corner of the room to another, but there are also internal obstacles in a smartphone setting. Overcoming these limitations, we are able to democratize VR by making it available to anyone who has a mobile device," says Ken Kim, CEO of Next Aeon.
Next Aeon recently became the official partner of the Korea Association of Realtors (KAR) and launched YouVR as a full-fledged VR CMS platform. YouVR will be available to over 100,000 realtors in Korea. This is just the start. The possibilities are endless.
When asked about his motivation behind the development of YouVR, Ken replied, "I wanted to make VR common place. As ubiquitous as our world is now, immersive media content has not been able to catch up. The problem was that it was too difficult to make. YouVR was meant to be DIY from the beginning."
He added, "I envision a world where everyone has VR at their fingertip. Just as smartphones have become a natural part of our daily lives today, YouVR will be a household name in the near future."
Next Aeon is looking ahead and beyond. Having partnered with KAR in Korea, it believes that its product will benefit agents, sellers, buyers and transform the real estate market globally. As the first step, it will be showcasing YouVR at the REALTORS® Conference and Expo held in Chicago in November.
"We participated in the same event last year and got really positive responses. People were ready to buy immediately. That experience gave me the confidence to push forward and expand globally. When it comes down to it, we all have the same problems when it comes to home searching and selling," says Ken. "YouVR will change how we deal with spaces."
This ambitious startup is already preparing to introduce yet another newly developed technology. Also under the YouVR brand, Next Aeon will release a 360 degree hybrid video mobile app in October. Currently in the final stages of development and testing, this new technology integrates image and video to create an immersive VR experience on the smartphone. When compared to regular 360 degree videos, YouVR 360 degree hybrid video is only quarter the size ensuring that the quality of the video is consistent in any environment.

Hortonworks Advances Global Data Management with Hortonworks DataPlane Service
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Hortonworks, Inc.® (NASDAQ: HDP), a leading provider of global data management solutions, today announced Hortonworks DataPlane Service (Hortonworks DPS), a service that reimagines and automates delivery of the modern data architecture. Hortonworks DPS makes it simple to provision and operate distributed data systems no matter the use case, whether for data science, self-service analytics or data warehousing optimization. And because governance capabilities are built-in and based on open source technologies such as Apache Atlas, Hortonworks DPS users will enjoy easy access to trusted data available behind the firewall, public cloud or a combination. This enables organizations to get trusted lineage from source to destination, regardless of type or origin.
Hortonworks DataPlane Service
Many modern businesses struggle to balance the demands of rapidly innovating through new technologies like machine learning with the need to keep data safe and secure, all while responding to a constantly changing regulatory landscape. This puts data stewards, data engineers, architects, data scientists and analysts under intense pressure as they must contend with existing and new applications, multiple logical and physical data stores and sources, diverse data types and data spread across several deployment environments. Hortonworks DPS helps solve these challenges by extending value to:
Data stewards to investigate lineage, improve quality and eliminate redundancies across data assets.
Data engineers to move, backup and restore data assets across environments and sources, while implementing an efficient data storage tiering policy.
Data architects to define security and governance policies that are automatically enforced to meet compliance requirements.
Data scientists and data analysts to understand cross source lineage, apply models across types of data and gain access to data to gain deeper insight into both pre and post transaction analysis.
According to Forrester1, "Increasing data volume is creating new challenges in integration, security, curation, administration, and governance. Business users want real-time trusted data to make accurate business decisions, while technology management wants to simplify administration and lower costs." Hortonworks DPS addresses these complexities with an extensible platform comprised of a set of shared core capabilities that simplify and accelerate the way organizations uncover actionable intelligence.
"A key requirement in Liberty Mutual's digital transformation is the ability to discover, understand, secure and govern a variety of data and workloads in hybrid multi-cloud environments across multiple data lakes as well as traditional platforms," said Sesh Rangarajan, Senior Director and Head of Analytics, Liberty Mutual Benefits. "For agile decision making in such a complex and dynamic data landscape, we require a single data fabric to make sense of it all. Hortonworks DataPlane Service is precisely that. We are excited to see Hortonworks bring forth this new market leading offering that leverages robust open source platforms to help solve such next generation data problems for enterprises."
Hortonworks DPS is delivered as a service and leverages open source technologies to share and extend the value of a modern data architecture in heterogeneous environments. Consistent with Hortonworks' approach to open source collaboration, this enables compatibility with a broad array of data center technologies upon which new services and partner applications can be built.
"The evolution and maturity of the market has given rise to the need for an enterprise-viable global data management platform that can capture data at rest and data in motion while consistently and reliably securing, governing and managing those data assets," said Rob Bearden, CEO, Hortonworks. "Since our inception, Hortonworks has been enabling and evolving the modern data architecture. Now, with Hortonworks DataPlane Service, enterprises will be able to consistently manage and secure all their data assets across environments, opening new business value."
In addition, IBM will integrate its IBM Unified Governance Platform with Hortonworks DPS. When used in tandem, clients will be able to define, implement and operate enterprise-wide governance programs that simplify compliance and analytics.
"This builds on our shared view that data governance is becoming a must-have, as clients face the need for self-service analytics, and deal with new regulations such as GDPR," said Rob Thomas, General Manager, IBM Analytics. "IBM believes that we are evolving to a multi-cloud world, and Hortonworks DPS is key for integrating disparate datasets in a multi-cloud environment."
Shared Core Capabilities
Hortonworks DPS includes core capabilities to control clusters, enable central security and governance and integrate with all of an organization's existing sources, including multiple clusters. The core capabilities include:
Data source integration to register and create data sources to allow consolidated access.
Data services catalog for full configuration and management utilities for the enablement of new services.
Security controls for full definition of security access controls including persona definitions.
Extensible Services
The pluggable architecture of Hortonworks DPS will allow for additional services from Hortonworks as well as partner services. The first extension from Hortonworks is the Data Lifecycle Manager. Data Lifecycle Manager manages the lifecycle of data assets and maintains context for use that complies with central security and governance policies. This service lets enterprises control and manage the lifecycle of data across multiple tiers, including replication and disaster recovery, reliable and efficient backup and restore, agile and automated tiering options to reduce costs and more efficient access to data sources.
Hortonworks plans to deliver additional extensible services that will plug into Hortonworks DPS such as the ability for users to understand, secure and govern data types consistently across enterprise data lakes, and the ability to deploy clusters to the cloud or specific workloads to different environments. Additionally, Hortonworks and IBM are working together to make IBM's Data Science Experience, Big SQL, Big Integrate and Big Quality services natively available within Hortonworks DPS.
