I love being a writer, but I hate it too. I love reworking or creating new ideas, yet I despise the way I have too many ideas to even start a single one, or it ends up barely finished.
I know that I’m nowhere near being the only person to experience this. How do you work through procrastination and lack of motivation?
In the meantime, this post will include some WIPs or simple ideas - titles and/or summaries - that I may or may not complete :
-> ‘The Scapegoat’s Sympathy Song’
Norse mythologies rewritten — Loki, his children, build up to the events of Ragnarok
-> ‘Born to Die’
Clash of titans and gods - Greek and Norse - Ancient Greece meets the Viking Age
Is it a bit cliche to make a pairing from opposite sides and have one of them die?
(I’d also have to work on my Greek mythology knowledge hahah)

— Norse Mythology | Loki
“Sharp teeth curl around the child's lips, lips that barely quivered in the ongoing storm. He has claws, thin and plastered with blood like he crawled out of a corpse, like he’d been dead a thousand times before. Did he ask for this? Loki's cheekbone reaches the quiet heart of the baby, gentle to not prod him -- There it is! A beat! As Loki pulled back, the rain seemed to shimmer in his dark eyes. A whine shyly escaped from his throat.”

A continuation (sort of) from my previous post; a short extract I’d like to share and gain any opinions from! I really want to finish this, although being busy and lacking inspiration is getting me down. I think also my very real fear that I’d write something totally incorrect is stopping me, but I’ll try my best!

MILD GRAPHIC WARNING
— Norse Mythology | Loki
“ Angrboda's womb laid upon Loki's palms, beautiful like two crescent moons, raw like the brutal ripping of a wound. The sky had opened too, soil beneath the giantess' legs muddied, bare thighs were rich with thick crimson. Loki, with pale, skeletal fingers, held the head of a new born. The god studied the way its fur dampened and how the rain dripped off of its muzzle, he scratched his long nails through the ashy pelt as the body dragged along behind it. ”

This is my first try at retelling mythology. I'm interested in the stories of Loki, his children, and the release of Fenrir that marks Ragnarok. I want to explore what Loki could’ve done or felt, and that’s where I want to do a retelling.

🗡️ What is your opinion on mythology retellings?
I’ve not read many myself, although the ones I have I’ve liked. I think, if you want to write a retelling, do - the - research - do at most a little bit. As long as they aren’t made into disney characters, I’m fine with anything. Rewiring or adjusting the stories is neat! I love to find out what others think what could’ve happened instead. I don’t think it’s entirely about changing everything, but exploring what wasn’t mentioned or fully explained. Completely remaking a myth isn’t my thing, but I could be willing to try.
I don’t think people should be attacked for not being an expert, however, if it’s obvious that there was barely any research and it lacks accuracies, I can understand if someone doesn’t like it.
I’m interested to hear anybody’s opinion and I’ll remain open-minded :
