The Interrelatedness of Life and Technology

In this day and age, technology has become an integral part of everyone's daily lives. I, myself, am not excluded from this. I mainly use my cellphone and laptop to access and utilize the various applications technology has in store. From helping me stay connected and entertained, as well as, making tasks more easy and more convenient to accomplish, technology has proven itself useful in the wide assortment of things it can do.

Communication

Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do is get on my phone and check my notifications if there are any new messages and I would then proceed to check my social media accounts. I mainly use Instagram since I enjoy seeing photographs of my friends' and families' daily musings or important life events. I think that technology has made communication easy, allowing people to stay in touch with their loved ones without the restrictions of traditional means of long-distance communication.

Productivity

Throughout my school day, technology has helped increase my productivity through applications such as Anki and Microsoft One Note. Anki is a digital flashcard-making app that helps me tremendously with active recall and retention of complex terms required in my future profession. Furthermore, Microsoft One Note is a digital notetaking app that I use to jot down notes during online classes because of its ability to dock itself to the screen for a split-screen mode and it also allows me to easily paste screenshots from the class. One can say that technology has made learning easier and more interactive for students like me to learn the class materials better. Another application that helps me in school is Notion. Notion is a digital planner app that allows me to easily create to-do lists and quick notes for everyday tasks and chores. Moreover, Notion can be synced with Canvas to allow the due dates to be transferred to Notion as to-do lists. The convenience of these digital alternatives compared to traditional means not only entails ease of use but also fewer things to bring during class.

Recreation

When it's time to relax after studying for countless hours, I also turn to technology since it allows me to listen to songs, as well as, stream and watch movies and shows at the convenience of my home. Applications such as Spotify and Netflix allow me to enjoy music and shows available in different countries respectively with a simple touch of a screen. Additionally, Spotify allows me to create playlists for my studying needs since I study with music. I appreciate the convenience modern technology has offered in terms of entertainment since now I do not have to purchase a CD to listen to songs nor do I have to go to the movie theater to watch a movie.

Final Thoughts

Looking back at my daily activities, it is amazing how modern technology has become an important aspect of my life in terms of communication, productivity, and recreation. Although modern technology has its occasional disadvantages, the benefits far outweigh the downsides. I hope for technology's continued innovation as the years pass by that may help and impact people's daily lives positively.
