January's almost over but I still have a few more commissions from last year to share! Today lemme show you two A5 paintings I did for a pair of friends who play Baldur's Gate 3 together! You may recognise the dwarf from that big A2 painting I shared earlier this month; it's the same character! These were both done with watercolour, gouache and pencil and I'll be adding the more affordable A5 size option to my watercolour commissions in February when my sale ends.

Been getting back into D20: Fantasy High lately (I'm on their second adventure) and remembered this fun commission of Riz Gukgak I got to draw last year!

This week let's talk about some robot commissions I did in 2024! Because I love some rohbits. Some hunks o junk. These are all from the same client as my previous post (@the-noodle-king 's post-apocalyptic fighting setting).

The above one was really fun as I was working to create a JCB-esque mech. Something that could conceivably work construction but also fight enemies and rescue people. A lot of the design features like handholds/rails were key for believability, and developed from a provided moodboard.

This one was a tricky transforming werewolf hybrid prosthetic-mechsuit concept! It was fun to add atmospheric gushing gases. And the next is a huuuge walking recycling crab bot! A lot of thought was put into the internal mechanics with visible collecting, condensing, crushing and 3D printing facilities. But also cuteness!

I did my own research into old anatomical armour and leaned into oxidised copper and skeletal features for something horrific and beautiful. I actually really like drawing more horror-leaning concepts but it hasn't come up much so far in my work haha!

Today I wanna share with you some very particular commissions from 23/24 that are part of a larger ongoing project for one of my clients. These are character designs that were commissioned based on existing designs and moodboards the client had that they wanted developed in new and interesting ways.

The characters all fit into a post-apocalyptic fighting universe so they all have unique abilities and backstories that had to be communicated through the designs.

These are different from my regular commissions in that I work with the client back and forth to develop the character and share lots of design notes. I'll be adding this type of commission to my roster on ko-fi in February, so if you have characters that need some development (whether its for your next dnd campaign, or perhaps your indie webcomic, or other small projects) please don't hesitate to reach out!

Another commission from 2024, this time a lovely watercolour/gouache piece in natural hues I got to do of a client's OC! This was a significant piece for me last year as I got to use high quality (polychromos) colour pencils in my process for the first time and they worked a TREAT. I also figured out a better way of scanning my art to really pick up all the variety within bright white areas!

Another commission from last year, this time a teastained pair of Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

I love the witches as my first Pratchett book was Wee Free Men, so these were a joy to paint!

I didn't share much of my commissioned work over 2024 (I was just generally not very active on my socials, plus I like to give clients time alone with their pieces before I share them), so I thought for January I'd highlight some of the work I got up to because a lot of it was fun and turned out great!

First is this massive A2 watercolour painting I finished back in March, commissioned by a Dungeon Master to showcase all the DnD party members she has toyed with over many years haha! It comprises 3 parties who have gotten up to various wild hijinks, all alluded to throughout the painting.
