Gave Grammy a proper Irish send-off, and now she's reunited in heaven with Grandpa. I will miss her terribly for the rest of my life, but she's at peace now and that's what matters. She taught me tenderness and how to laugh at myself. I hope the eulogy that I delivered would have made her proud. I wrote those words honoring her memory in the best way possible, for every single person that loved her despite the circumstances. I'm infinitely grateful that I was given the time and opportunity to take care of my family the last few days. I remember being at the church for her funeral mass when we went inside, knowing that it was better that I was closer to the casket than my brother or cousin because it would have been entirely too much for them. My family needed me to be strong and help them find the words this week, hold their hands and hug them along with uttering the sentiment of "I've got you." I did just that and would do more. Grief isn't linear, but I hope that they feel comforted in their times of need. I'm at peace knowing that the last words my Grammy said to me and that I said to her were "I love you." and that I got to say goodbye. My heart is ultimately broken, but she lived a long beautiful life. I'm so proud to be her granddaughter. May you rest peacefully in the fields of heaven. I felt your presence at the funeral home and I know you were giving me a sign at the restaurant after our final goodbye with the bartenders name. I've gained another incredible guardian angel. Thank you for always taking care of all of us. I love you. 😭🕊💕
